well you actually can see the one-block island, near the rotating dome of dome island. you just can never see the rotating dome of one-block island before you link there

@ilikemario8 I always figured it was because Gehn works from a set formula too much or something. It's like there's something fundamental lacking in his Ages because he writes without, I dunno, a sense of enjoyment for the craft itself, instead of this selfish need to revive the D'ni or be seen as a god. It's like the difference between a good story and a bad story--some people are just bad writers. If that even makes sense. XD But of course that's just my take on it.

@SJothra Uh . . . no. That's kind of a dumb question. Can you see the dome or the prison that Catherine is in? No, you can't. As for the locked door, are you referring to the door you have to crawl under?

Why does Ghen need to power his books while Atrus doesn't? Is that something explained later on?

@iNEXSERTiON Because Gehn's self-made books suck. He blames the quality of Riven's wood, but Catherine says it's his own fault.

Is it anyone but me who finds it ironic that on the map isle, the crack between the minature islands, kinda represents that Riven is falling apart. And maybe the Fissure.

Quick question: is it possible to link to Ghen's world before retrieving the trap book from the Moiety? If so, what happens?

He lets you go so you can go and get the trap book and come back later.

@erkicman Yes. He's like all "Hey man - I like your pimping threads, but for f**ks sake, you have to get that book." He turns on the power for the books and says "Don't dare come back without the linking book, you bastard." I'm translating into Australian here.

Hypercam for the video, Audacity for the narration.

@Dilandau3000 Audacity is nice, but for some reason, Hypercam never worked well. It was always recording choppy-like. So I switched to FRAPS

@iNEXSERTiON I use Fraps for 3D games as well, but it can't be used for non-3D stuff like Riven. The trick with Hypercam is to choose the right codec for recording (I prefer to use something lossless), and disable Aero Glass if using Vista/Win7. I've found that often the sound gets out of sync but if it does it's always by 1 second so it's easily fixed in editing.

onelittle tip. Maybe u had to say that u care that the map is in right rotation when you look after the dome. I had a lot of trouble to locate them right. Ich come to that machine again and again to get the right position.
