You obviously have WAY too much time on your hands. My questions would be is do they sound the same? I could care less if they come in a thin or a thick plastic sleeves. You can buy paper sleeves for very little. I could care lesss what the box smells like. BTW your "authentic"set doesn't have the authentic paper sleeves. The real ones have a hole on each side like an LP cover, with writing.I guess you got 2 fake sets. Oh well.

I share your anger on this. I too received a bootleg Beatles mono box set today from ebay. However the seller did refund my paypal account and the case is closed. My question to you is, do you know if I have to send it back to the seller? Reason I ask is cuz ebay said its between me and him,but as far as ebay goes, they dont want it. @rnsteh Well, if the seller wants it back, I would send it. If this person really is a lawyer, they should know it's a FELONY to sell counterfeit merchandise and can be prosecuted for doing so! Make sure they know that.

Hey! That's the exact one that I got! Every little detail is the same! The worst part is that I got mine about a year ago for full price, so no returns or refunds. Did that set have any messed up disks? Revolver, the second half of Help, and a few songs on A Hard Day's Night have these really loud popping noises when I play them. I thought that it was because they were messed up by an x-ray machine or something.
But, wait! When you got it, you said it was about a dollar. The whole box set costs around $100 to $200, and one CD would cost around $10. I'd just buy it on Amazon. And I'm not trying to be offensive here, I don't have a good way with words.
You said it, you have an "enormous collection" of music on CD, now why don't you put out some of that on youtube? You could make some great album playlists for the best cd's you have and make your channel become even more popular!
I preordered my copy from Barnes and Noble and received it on 9 September 2009 so I have no concerns regarding it's legitimacy. The serial numbers match what the other members have posted. However I did notice that the inner half of the box was somewhat difficult to remove from the outer half. Has anyone else experienced this and, if so, what steps did you take to rectify this problem?

I ran into this problem myself it was the limited edition DVD set of Stargate I paid almost full price about $50 off the actual price on Amazon. It had pictures of the American release of the full series box with the Stargate on the front. When it arrived it looked it was in a much smaller box that literally had a picture of the real box set on the front of it that had a spindle of DVD inside that smelt something like freon gas. Amazon refunded my money and I was allowed to keep the DVDs...
Is the white album poster in the genuine set made out of a different material than the stereo box? The mono box i have has the poster in a more cardboard like material, but my stereo cd has it in a smoother material. Any ideas?
@Robinhoodarch It's meant to be like that. The mono box's poster is made from the same material that the original White Album posters where made out of. The Stereo is made from newer stuff.

Few days ago, a friend told me that he had seen a Mono Box Set for 130 € (167 $ aprox.), while that box costs 320 € here in Spain. So, today I was in that store to check it out and, after telling the salesman the thing about the fake boxes (he guaranteed to me that he don't have any fake stuff and shit). So I bought it. Then, I realized that it was a fuckin' fake. I come back to the shop and I tell the man that I wanted to return, so he told me not to come again anymore. What a twat, isn't it?

my dad got me the stereo box set for my birthday and I was so excited to get it. but I immediately knew it was fake because it was very dark, and i knew it was darker because I had 4 of the remastered albums already and on Rubber Soul the picture was reversed, the middle picture was on the right and the right was in the middle. and the cd's also came in that tissue paper like wrapping

But if you do get it on Amazon you can tell if its fake or not, the smell, quality etc. Remember, not all Stereo Box Set (Genuine) are completely perfect lol , but if most albums are perfect and one is like damaged? Its still real , just packaging. Anyways you can tell, so dont worry. So i just recommend getting it in stores or ordering it from the store.

Very interesting video. But in Asia you see them on many local shops and markets. The UK stereo box has been counterfeited too. In many forms. Not one. The mono Beatles box is run in a new press. This time a copy of the European release. Local prices for a stereo box is about 15 to 20 USD. The mono between 8 to 12 USD. The Myamar copies ( produced in another part of China then the Hong Kong ones) sound great. Why? Booted from the Japanese masters.

Personally, I prefer the White Album on stereo but considering the amount of music you get with mono incl. Rubber Soul, Revolver and Mono Masters which kicks ass. I will gladly accept the Mono White Album since I have 3 vinyl copies on stereo already. Hope yours is ok.

I just got a set from a seller on Amazon.com that is also counterfeit. The price was low, but I've got stuff very cheap on Amazon without any problems. The seller is the one to blame for selling fake stuff.

MMT did not even have a slot to put the CD in just stuffed inside the gate-fold. The white album fell apart when opened, Cheap glue. Seller refunded my money as soon as I sent the list of problems and said to just keep the Cd's. Took that money added to it went to Best Buy and brought a real set on sale for $209. Will never use ebay for Cd's again.

I bought one of these, the guy was slow to respond, I had the same problems. The sound of 'em is WONDERFUL, but the packaging was obviously fake. Seller said to return it would be expensive because it had to go to Hong Kong where he'd drop-shipped from. He was evasive, I reported him to eBay and filed a complaint with Paypal. It took multiple requests to finally get his Hawaii address. It cost me 33 bucks to return to get my $ back, but Paypal worked with me.

@ZombiesFan95 Absolutely. It's being drop shipped straight from China. What was his feedback rating? 100%? The person I got mine from was 100% but I failed to notice there were only 5 total transactions.
@ZombiesFan95 Well if she has 156 tranactions it is possible that it's te real deal. Check for the signs once you get it, and if it's fake make sure you get your money back before you ship it back to her. Nice youtube handle! I love the Zombies as well!

Figured I'd check out ebay as the prices are usually even lower when that kind of thing occurs. Bought a mono set for $100 which I considered reasonable. THEN I checked the reviews and found out about the fakes. STOOPID! It arrived today and all the poor quality issues were evident - this was the Japanese box. The paper sleeves were there, but the albums themselves were poor.

I fell for this too on eBay. The CDs all worked, and they're pretty good fakes, but they were not in order, had no paper record sleeve and didn't come in the plastic covers. Magical Mystery Tour was folded the wrong way (inside of gatefold was the outside) and wasn't even cut for the CD to fit in. I've got my money back now, but it really sucked when I realised they weren't real.

Does your Sgt. Peppers album title face wrong direction compare the the rest when they all are lined up? What about the etching code on each CD hub area? What does it say? First Pressing discs have 'IFPI L153' or 'IFPI L154' stamped in the hub area while the Second Pressing has 'IFPI L278' or 'IFPI L277'.
I just got mine bought it cheap. I can not tell if it is fake or not. I am thinking what bout the Disk etching ? Does authentic one says "BEATLES" etching on back of each discs? Mine only has numbers on it.

The packaging was nearly identical to my store bought copy, the disc however was POOR the cover was really dark and you can't read the track titles it's that bad. The booklet inside is poorer quality than the real version. I was so annoyed I couldn't believe someone had sent me a dodgy copy. It was supposed to be a gift too!

@corn05 Some people just want to have the music and the package that approximates the original, without paying the price for an original. Think of it like buying a reproduction print of your favorite artist for your living room. For them, the fakes are fine. But to serious collectors, it's garbage. You don't get something for nothing.
I'm from Italy, and I just had the same problem with 2 Beatles in mono box sets: a "standard" edition bought from a english seller, with the black card on the back (looked genuine from the outside, but the content was 100% fake/counterfeit), and another from a Hong Kong seller (it was the chinese counterfeit of the japanese release, the larger one with extra booklet and large OBI on the spine...). that's INCREDIBLE!

I recently got one from another seller on eBay for $62.00 - there was no booklet, the LP's were out of order, would not play, and I submitted a claim to eBay. So far, I've only heard from other users who were also burned.

How can I tell it's a fake before opening it? I have one that I feel is authentic and one that I feel is fake. The differences are the real one is in shrinkwrap and has the black UPC card on the back, and the fake one has no card on the back and is in cheap plastic covering. Is it safe to assume that no card and no shrinkwrap = fake?
My 2 cents: I've been looking for an authentic set on ebay. I've sent messages to many sellers trying to avoid a ripoff. Some of them have items wrapped in cheap plastic but WITH the card on the back. I believe these are as fake as the ones without the card. The telltale sign seems to be the wrapping. Shrink wrapped = real. Cheap wrap = fake. Some sellers are being removed from ebay as people have been reporting the problem.
I just recieved my FAKE mono box set today and it's worse than this one! There's no outer plastic covers on any of the cds and the magicil mystery tour cover is just a folded piece of card - you can't even put a disc in it. There are no inserts in Peppers either.
I'm gonna buy 1 of these fake Chinese box sets right now for 35 pounds brand new. I'd rather do that than pay over 200 :) I'm a cheap fuck

Hey! That's the exact one that I got! Every little detail is the same! The worst part is that I got mine about a year ago for full price, so no returns or refunds. Did that set have any messed up disks? Revolver, the second half of Help, and a few songs on A Hard Day's Night have these really loud popping noises when I play them. I thought that it was because they were messed up by an x-ray machine or something.

I preordered my copy from Barnes and Noble and received it on 9 September 2009 so I have no concerns regarding it's legitimacy. The serial numbers match what the other members have posted. However I did notice that the inner half of the box was somewhat difficult to remove from the outer half. Has anyone else experienced this and, if so, what steps did you take to rectify this problem?

I ran into this problem myself it was the limited edition DVD set of Stargate I paid almost full price about $50 off the actual price on Amazon. It had pictures of the American release of the full series box with the Stargate on the front. When it arrived it looked it was in a much smaller box that literally had a picture of the real box set on the front of it that had a spindle of DVD inside that smelt something like freon gas. Amazon refunded my money and I was allowed to keep the DVDs...

Is the white album poster in the genuine set made out of a different material than the stereo box? The mono box i have has the poster in a more cardboard like material, but my stereo cd has it in a smoother material. Any ideas?

Few days ago, a friend told me that he had seen a Mono Box Set for 130 € (167 $ aprox.), while that box costs 320 € here in Spain. So, today I was in that store to check it out and, after telling the salesman the thing about the fake boxes (he guaranteed to me that he don't have any fake stuff and shit). So I bought it. Then, I realized that it was a fuckin' fake. I come back to the shop and I tell the man that I wanted to return, so he told me not to come again anymore. What a twat, isn't it?

my dad got me the stereo box set for my birthday and I was so excited to get it. but I immediately knew it was fake because it was very dark, and i knew it was darker because I had 4 of the remastered albums already and on Rubber Soul the picture was reversed, the middle picture was on the right and the right was in the middle. and the cd's also came in that tissue paper like wrapping

I won an ebay aucton for $60.11 !!!!!!! on ebay for a brand new mono box set but asked the seller straight up "do you promise me this isn't a bootleg" he couldn't so i canceled(meaning it was a bootleg obviously) i sometimes kinda wish i would have kept it considering what you see in this video i could have had for 60 BUT instead i paid triple that directly through amazon(which will be real).???i hope i choose right?

But if you do get it on Amazon you can tell if its fake or not, the smell, quality etc. Remember, not all Stereo Box Set (Genuine) are completely perfect lol , but if most albums are perfect and one is like damaged? Its still real , just packaging. Anyways you can tell, so dont worry. So i just recommend getting it in stores or ordering it from the store.

Now E bay plays Pilatus. But they could fear a counterfeit lawsuit by capitol. Letting sellers offer these counterfeits. And E bay knows. In Europe they got a lawsuit by some fashion companies. I traveled in Asia a lot. People would be amazed how much and what the Chinese copy on the cd market. Some are bad products but some have an amazing sound. Or crazy covers. Even producing blue ray. Very interesting video. But in Asia you see them on many local shops and markets. The UK stereo box has been counterfeited too. In many forms. Not one. The mono Beatles box is run in a new press. This time a copy of the European release. Local prices for a stereo box is about 15 to 20 USD. The mono between 8 to 12 USD. The Myamar copies ( produced in another part of China then the Hong Kong ones) sound great. Why? Booted from the Japanese masters.

Personally, I prefer the White Album on stereo but considering the amount of music you get with mono incl. Rubber Soul, Revolver and Mono Masters which kicks ass. I will gladly accept the Mono White Album since I have 3 vinyl copies on stereo already. Hope yours is ok.

Your box looks better than the one I got off ebay. on mine the covers were glued together crooked, if they were glued at all. MMT did not even have a slot to put the CD in just stuffed inside the gate-fold. The white album fell apart when opened, Cheap glue. Seller refunded my money as soon as I sent the list of problems and said to just keep the Cd's. Took that money added to it went to Best Buy and brought a real set on sale for $209. Will never use ebay for Cd's again.

I bought one of these, the guy was slow to respond, I had the same problems. The sound of 'em is WONDERFUL, but the packaging was obviously fake. Seller said to return it would be expensive because it had to go to Hong Kong where he'd drop-shipped from. He was evasive, I reported him to eBay and filed a complaint with Paypal. It took multiple requests to finally get his Hawaii address. It cost me 33 bucks to return to get my $ back, but Paypal worked with me.

Figured I'd check out ebay as the prices are usually even lower when that kind of thing occurs. Bought a mono set for $100 which I considered reasonable. THEN I checked the reviews and found out about the fakes. STOOPID! It arrived today and all the poor quality issues were evident - this was the Japanese box. The paper sleeves were there, but the albums themselves were poor.

I fell for this too on eBay. The CDs all worked, and they're pretty good fakes, but they were not in order, had no paper record sleeve and didn't come in the plastic covers. Magical Mystery Tour was folded the wrong way (inside of gatefold was the outside) and wasn't even cut for the CD to fit in. I've got my money back now, but it really sucked when I realised they weren't real.

I got a pink Floyd oh by the way box set from ebay..and It was a fake...items misspelled and cd's scratched to hell and back! well filed a claim to ebay and paypal..waiting to hear back!!

I got a counterfeit Abbey Road in the post today.
The packaging was nearly identical to my store bought copy, the disc however was POOR the cover was really dark and you can't read the track titles it's that bad. The booklet inside is poorer quality than the real version. I was so annoyed I couldn't believe someone had sent me a dodgy copy. It was supposed to be a gift too!

@RingoTheSuperStarr Mine sounds perfect on my Computer. But I have heard many do not play on CD players, jumps songs, and so forth. Made in China.

the hong kong guy sold me also a fake Pink Floyd "oh by the way" box set (imitation of the french release, but same problems inside).
I wonder why those sellers have received so many positive feedbacks, even for these box sets!!!!! Once opened, to me it's so obvious that they can't be genuine.
I asked the refund, but the hong kong seller said I have to return him the boxes, as 1st thing (with tracked shipping)... What can I do? How can I trust him again?

@corn05 Some people just want to have the music and the package that approximates the original, without paying the price for an original. Think of it like buying a reproduction print of your favorite artist for your living room. For them, the fakes are fine. But to serious collectors, it's garbage. You don't get something for nothing.

I'm from Italy, and I just had the same problem with 2 Beatles in mono box sets: a "standard" edition bought from a english seller, with the black card on the back (looked genuine from the outside, but the content was 100% fake/counterfeit), and another from a Hong Kong seller (it was the chinese counterfeit of the japanese release, the larger one with extra booklet and large OBI on the spine...). that's INCREDIBLE!

Thank you for making this video. You've provided a service to the community. It seems many fake box sets are being sold on ebay and it's confusing for those of us trying to buy/sell the real thing. I hope you're able to spread the word so the problem can be resolved.

I too just bought a mono box set off an amazon reseller and there were some things that I thought were off about it so I decided to look around on the internet and found this video.
Mine is exactly like one in the video above. Needless to say I am very disappointed.

I recently got one from another seller on eBay for $62.00 - there was no booklet, the LP's were out of order, would not play, and I submitted a claim to eBay. So far, I've only heard from other users who were also burned.

How can I tell it's a fake before opening it? I have one that I feel is authentic and one that I feel is fake. The differences are the real one is in shrinkwrap and has the black UPC card on the back, and the fake one has no card on the back and is in cheap plastic covering. Is it safe to assume that no card and no shrinkwrap = fake?

My 2 cents: I've been looking for an authentic set on ebay. I've sent messages to many sellers trying to avoid a ripoff. Some of them have items wrapped in cheap plastic but WITH the card on the back. I believe these are as fake as the ones without the card. The telltale sign seems to be the wrapping. Shrink wrapped = real. Cheap wrap = fake. Some sellers are being removed from ebay as people have been reporting the problem.

I just recieved my FAKE mono box set today and it's worse than this one! There's no outer plastic covers on any of the cds and the magicil mystery tour cover is just a folded piece of card - you can't even put a disc in it. There are no inserts in Peppers either.
