Why is anyone surprised this happened? We don't do anything in this country anymore other than consume. The only parts of steel mills still doing anything here in Pittsburgh are the coke ovens and why the coke ovens? Because we now ship coke overseas to Foreign Government subsidized steel mills. Where do all the microchips that make our extra fancy smart weapons work come from? Taiwan, China, Japan. Same with the uniforms our soldiers wear. This is beyond fucked up, beyond insane.
The American public does understand that there is a huge problem and we are on a ruinous course. And yet, many will still vote for *more of the same* because they are easily manipulated by fear mongering and religous zealotry. Unfortunately, intelligent, independent and reasoning most Americans are not.
"force saving on Americans in the form of higher taxes"- this is something I've been thinking for a couple years now- we can't have everything and Americans will soon realize the costs of runaway spending from the last 8 years. That's a heavy statement coming from a conservative like Mort Z.
This is the reason why going into Iraq was even more stpid than first thought. We have spend the 200 - 500 billion in Iraq and haven't gotten shit in return. And now the Republicans want another chance at the whitehouse.
If McCain gets elected, American voters are fools. McCain has no plans and Bush just orchastrated the largest money grab in U.S. history. I would love to see him in cuffs someday.
