Hulk was in great shape back then, although he was just past his best days he still looked fantstic, almost like fine wine he got better with age and did a great job in putting The Undertaker over, you had to be someone to be able to beat Hogan back then
Those were the good days of wrasslin'. Both the Federation and Attitude eras were the best wrestling ever had to offer. I'm glad to have been able to enjoy it... and with all do respect to the present athletes, it simply doesn't even come close, and probably never will.
I remember watching wrestling for the first time. And when I first saw undertaker, i thought "...Damn" cause he was that good. So I have been an Undertaker fan since I became a wrestling fan. Cool Huh
I walked up to the Hulkster one time right in the midle of him shooting suburban commando,,he was so cool, he had them stop shooting just to talk to me, ill never forget his kindness, i remember our short but life changing conversation we had,, that is one great human, Terry Hogan,,,that was cool...TY...

Paul Bearer = maximum awesomeness. Undertaker never had any promo skills to speak of...without a doubt, Taker would never have been half the star he was without Bearer's brilliant promo work.
@garethac81 I enjoy the Undertaker's promos, past and present. They were short during this time period, but that was for more effect. If you think about death, it doesn't seem like death would speak very often.
Man this was so awesome. Paul Bearer is just to weird. This was the angle that I finally found somebody else to cheer besides Hulk and Macho. I have always followed Taker from then to now
Lemme tell you something when Taker won the title from Hogan in 1991 I immediatly jumped on his bandwagon and gave The HulkaManiacs a BIG FUCK YOU. Because I was getting tired of Hogan and his crap and the fact that he was hogging all the WWE's glory. Hogan lasted until Mania 8 when he went bye bye and Taker turned bayface and I never left The DeadMan's bandwagon since
@jcp1977 But Hogan stayed in wrestling way after that, he won the belt again at wrestlemania 9 and then when to wcw and kept winning the belt, if you get really technical about it Hogan is still the wcw champion but it takes too long to explain
@jcp1977 - Must have pissed you off when it took the Underfaker Ric Flair and a steel chair to beat Hogan and then Hogan took it back 2 days later at Tuesday in Texas. lmao
Mr. Callaway had to swallow huge pride just to let faces like Hogan & Warrior get center-stage. I'm amazed he even put up with it for probably half the pay those guys were getting...
Oh, yeah...But 'Taker was in his mid '20s at the time, so he sort of had to, unfortunately. And both of those men were/are major-league jerks in real life, especially Helwig (who refused to take the time to meet a terminally ill child once, because he was "too f*&(in busy"). When 'Taker and Bret Hart really got on the map, it offered a fresh alternative for people who were sick and tired of the Hulk Hogan ego-palooza and whatever "Warrior" brought to the table.
@Falenas Excellent observation! undertaker is the true company player. I guess his gimmick is so powerful that it transcends titles and accolades. But yeah, working for a way lower salary than John Cena or Triple H, thats rough!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Hulk Hogan was and is the king of professional wrestling, he elevated everybody around him, Undertaker is a side show, thats why he never kept the belt.
@BlueSkyeReynolds Its not really surprising to me because Hogan always tried to make it so when he had to lose a belt it would happen with Hogan being unfairly interfered with in some way so he could either get revenge as a good guy and keep an angle going or so he could say as a bad guy that he was really still the best and if it wasn't for whatever happend then he'd still be champion, usually meaning he could have a rematch.
@Pcfan11 But you know Hogan could not job cleanly, you have to understand that they (vince mcmahon, eric bischoff) had to keep a door open for Hogan to come back incase whoever he lost the belt to didn't bring the company as much money and that happend with just about everyone Hogan lost the belt to.
Sting just didn't bring in the Money Hogan did, bischoff knew it thats why he made hogan lie down for sting because t that time sting was in cahoots with russo who was ballsing it up.
But Hogan wasn't really a draw anymore at that time, people knew it was scripted, and they knew about Hogan being a bitch, meanwhile, Sting was managing to put on good matches ever since 1985, he was the company's top hero behind Goldberg.
Also, Russo probably booked the HH99 thing behind Sting's back.
@Pcfan11 No Hogan was very much a draw at that time, just look at what happened when he went back to wwf. Sting and Goldberg were the company's greatest hero's but Hogan was the company's real champion and so was flair and as soon as they showed on screen disrespect to those characters fans turned they did because people I knew switched to wwf right at that time, and you'd ask them why and they would say "because Hogans gone and they're giving the belt to anyone" wcw needed Hogan and flair.
@Pcfan11 They didn't fall drastically when Hogan was the main focus, Hogan was off tv for most of the end of 99 when he got injured and early 2000 and wcw's ratings crashed in his absence at that time the wwe was killing the ratings with the ministry of darkness and the corporation then the corporate ministry and the rock and HHH's popularity was starting to peak, wwe was just better than anything wcw could do at that time especially without Hogan
@Pcfan11 When Hogan came back they brought him back too quietly and then nullified his win against jeff jarret at bash of the beach for the belt all the fans wanted him to win it but vince russo didn't so he let Hogan leave wcw with the championship and they made a new one, fans hated it and wcw was now a shell of what it used to be without wrestlings biggest star (Hogan) and nobody comparable to the wwe's now rich roster with guys like jericho, rock, austin, big show etc thats why wcw went to shit
Not everyone was a Hulkamaniac but all wrestling fans then had some respect for Hogan and not vince russo, they had respect for sting but he didn't get as personally involved in the management of wcw as Hogan so the fans didn't care either way for him and making him good or bad didn't seem to change anything only Hogan could seem to make changes, it was Hogan and fans vs russo and wcw creative (who sucked) fans knew it hence when he went back to wwf and everyone cheered Hogan instead of the rock

I remember as a kid, i think it was hogan, but the undertake had unleashed some kinda voodoo on him or something that made blood or black liquid run down hogan face (or whoever it was)
Anyone know what im talking about i cant find it anyplace
You have the events correct, but not the players. it was actually voodoo inflicted on ultimate warrior by wrestler Papa shango. if u type in their names and "voodoo" you should be able to find it.
I remember watching this as a child.. holy crap. thanks for this.
there are normal ppl....fighters....reknowned ppl...gods...and then LEGENDS WHO'R MORE THAN GODS
hogan was 1 of them...but you cant just go on being a legend all the time...1 day sum1 will come to strike u off the throne..THE UNDERTAKER did just like that.
iv got nothing against hogan, hes a fav. of mine...but you guys gotta accept the fact that the undertaker owned him.
damn straight. It was also a sign that Hogan's popularity was slowly fading and The Undertaker's was just getting started. And what better way to prove you're the best then by defeating what many thought was invincible.
I hated how in the promo photo, they made Hogan appear taller than Taker, even though in reality Taker was taller, Taker should've put Hogan in the custom made casket!! Viva Undertaker!!
The Hulk Hogan custom made casket! I remember that! I think this is the promo I remembered seeing on WWF Superstars back when I was a kid! Didn't Undertaker also build a custom made casket for "Macho Man" Randy Savage too?
