  • LOVE the color, the the COE style, the whole truck. What a beauty.

  • Be sure and run HOWES fuel treatment in it and DON'T LUG IT and don't use the jake for a toy and it will outlast you. If it still has a Luberafiner bypass oil filter replace it with a spin on by pass.

  • I thought that truck suppose to have the Red and White Colorado license plates.

  • @Thinker669 hey there, the red and white plates are "Fleet" plates I do believe. This truck is registered as a Recreational Vehicle so I can have just the REC TRUCK or regular plate. No CDL required in CO either!

  • The history of Freightliner, going back to the Consolidated Freightways (CF) days when they had them special made, is interesting. When I started trucking in 1974 I remember CF trucks running out West had the slogan "Consolidated Freightliners" on the backs of the cabs. White made them. I'll bet some of the young guys are confused by the title of this video. "That truck is orange, not white!:"

  • Very cool,that's motorhoming!

  • nice job man

  • can you pleaseeeee do a video of the inside? im making a scale version of this truck I want to do full interiors on it :) heheh

  • @SilvioJDePena Hey I will try to get a video posted of the inside of the camper. I know a lot of people have asked for it so I will see what I can do. I wont be able to do it for a few weeks though so just hang tight.

  • best motor home EVER!!! wish i could see what it looks like inside

  • This is what my truck will sound like starting, idling, and accelerating!!!!!!!!!

  • imagine if trcks could talk.bet this truck has got stories.

  • @GodSkynyrdandCountry I genuinely appreciate the comment!! And I'm definitely a much bigger fan of my truck than I am of Justin Bieber lol. I will look up the Walcott jamboree and see what it would take to bring her out there. No gaurntees but it would be fun!

  • you scared the driver in the suv almost of the road ur truck sounds wonderful

  • Awesome Freightliner man you should think about putting a straight pipe on it. It would really rattle them Colorado mountain then. Keep on trucking

  • u dont need to jake change, its only for hillbillies.with that much smoke it needs liner kits too.

  • u dont need to jake change, its only for hillbillies.

  • Holy shit that sounds nice

  • Cool old classic FL. My Dad had one back in the '70s.

Since you aren't really pulling much weight, there are a couple things you could do to increase your fuel economy. Two rear axles are really overkill, for instance. If you single it out you'll remove a bunch of weight and drag, and make it simpler/cheaper to change the gear ratio in the remaining diff. That's another thing. This truck was geared to haul a load, and you can probably greatly increase your economy (as well as top speed).

    Woot!

  • This is one of the coolest trucks I've ever seen! That's a really neat configuration, and it's awesome that it qualifies for a coach classification! Nice old school wheels on there, too. Love the old detroit sound.

  • Thanks for all the great comments! Typical fuel mileage is around 8 mpg through the Coloorado mountains but she runs great and has no trouble with even the steepest hills. Even had a couple cattle-haulers call me over the radio last summer and ask if they could throw a chain out and hook on as I blew past them on Crow Hill just outside of Bailey, Colorado! I'll try to get some camper and sleeper footage for you all once the weather warms up a bit.

  • @turbosuperiority what kind of transmission does it have? also does it have jake brakes? if not, did it used to have them?

  • @caleb79843 Hey Caleb, it's got a Fuller 13 speed transmission and it does have a jake brake! Thanks for watching.

  • @turbosuperiority are the jakes screaming loud? I just remembered the stupid state law on jake brakes.

  • @caleb79843 Well, the exhaust is set up where it has both cylinder banks combining into one (2 into 1) and it has one big muffler so no, it's not too loud. If it were straight piped it definitely would be though!

  • WOW - Nice truck!! Good Fuel mileage?! I would love to see the interior of the camper part of this truck as well as the sleeper!

  • Nice Freightshaker!! She sounds great!!

  • That sound real sweet....music to my ears....I think the older American trucks look the bizz.

    Nick in the UK.

  • Nice truck for sure. Maybe a tour of the inside? :)

  • I dare say, with only a handful of wise modifications, you just might have the perfect vehicle to survive the zombie apocalypse.

  • its too bad the cab & rear box were not intergrated, even by just a passage & rubber seals between them & re-route the exhaust.

  • nice truck a bit of an overkill that box would only weigh 1 and a half ton lol

  • So far you're the only I've seen upshift with your Jakes on YT...we do that a lot in the Islands...quicker upshifts...easier on this clutch leg...separates the men from the boys...

  • Nice truck but I think you should put a window in the box. Truck sounds great too.

  • @sricci1 Thanks everyone for the nice comments. The camper does have one window in the front, about head level but probably could use another one.

  • @turbosuperiority Is it big enough to get out of, in case a prankster locks you in with the external door latch?

  • @AggregateDood No sir it's not. I wondered how long it would be before someone noticed that! Haha I'm just hoping for the best..

  • should make a inside vid just like this vid

  • Super cool!

  • very nice old freightliner!i dont hear that two stroke sound on the road the way i use to,now i'll drop what im doing to see what it is when i hear one.got a 63 kw needle nose at home with a 6-71.

  • that's gotta be one of the best motorhomes i've ever seen. well done.

  • what do you do with a 2 cycle do you mix oil with it

  • @brian93ist you run straight diesel fuel like any other truck

  • Nice! I used to drive one of those back in the day. That is my dream, to buy one and just drive for recreation. How's the insurance on it?

  • Great Idea. Awesome rig. A mans truck, 2 cycle Detroit power. Power on every stroke...

  • Comment removed

  • we used to have a 64 freightliner with a 671 detroit

  • Another beautiful piece of trucking history!

  • with a detroit it can sound like you have the jake break on all the time :) ★★★★★

  • Not many 318s had single stack.

  • Hey man nice Freight Shaker. Do u need to have a CDL to operate it?

  • Thanks! In Colorado there is actually an exemption for Recreational Vehicles that allows you to drive this without a CDL. I'm not sure if that is the same for other states though.

  • yeah i think as long as it falls into the category of a RV it is like that in all states not sure though. My little brother is thinking about doing something like that when he gets old enough. Thanks for the reply and God Bless

  • @turbosuperiority I believe in most states if it has a bathroom and running water and other things it is listed as an RV so it can be driven with a regular license.

  • hey love the truck can you make a video of inside the camper? that would be sweet thanks!

  • Nice truck, my dad used to drive one of those. I despise my dad.

  • Aloha,

Have a 1969 WF COE with the same setup. Could you help provide more info. I need what coolant type cap, oil cap. If you don't know directing me to a website would help. Previouse owner really micky moused the truck. I'm trying rewire and plump everything.

  • if you wanted to hear the Jake you should have put on a straight pipe

  • Love it!!!

  • How many cylinders has that truck?

  • It is a v8 2 cycle Diesel engine.

  • lol it sounds like a Subaru, I thought it had a Cummins 4BT

  • Luv that Classic . That's a real truck!!

  • That it too cool! Great toy. I am sure the truck was picked up for a good price, but he "fixing up" part and making the living quarters in the back is probably costing a small fortune. I LOVE the sound of the old two stroke Detroits (for about 10 mins) but driving for a living these new quiet cabs and engines sure are a dream. 11 hours a day listening to that I think I would go deaf and probably need to put my right shoulder on ice after shifting all day long! ha ha keep videos coming!!!

  • Hi,

How about a video of the engine bay.

  • Damn, Garfield is badass, a bit noiser than Shrek. Your pops sounds like he is having a pretty heated debate at the beginning of the video.
