  • Can I do this with a regular tent or do I really need a custom one?

  • And this guy did it without Sherpa support.

Just shows what a bunch of whips the rest of us are.

  • holy crap, lung-a-riffic

  • my question is, "why?!"

  • how could he withstand the extreme cold and lack of oxygen??

  • @wtficantgetausername He's a sherpa.

  • Comment removed

  • And then he got careless while taking pictures and fell into a crevasse a few years later. rip...

  • mountaineering is in blood of sherpas......proud to be nepali......there are many places in nepal to visit..welcome

  • the guy is in his living room with a poster on the wall

  • Himalayan peaks are the highest but not the tallest or literally biggest mount everwst from it's lowest point to it's summit is 12,000 feet but mont blanc is 13,000. Feet from base to summit and Denali in Alaska is 17,000 feet from base to summit also mont blanc is bigger than K2 but of course not nearly as high so it takes longer to climb K2 as you need to acclimatize and you get worn out after only a few steps

  • Wow, 21 hours with only one third the normal oxygen, that guy has amazing lungs

  • What's the big deal? My friend stay there forever. (May he rest in peace)

  • turquise like my gate color - in the words of my austrian ancestors

hobe die ähhhhre ! too bad he is dead he would have been a true friend up there not a fleeing snake !

  • hope he doesnt toss and turn in his sleep....

  • Why is this guy not on Nat Geo ?

Something very very very wrong about the men that run the mass media.

  • It takes more mental strength dealing with the pain of cold and struggling to breath then it does physical strength.

This men must have great mental discipline.

  • the legend - that is Babu Chiri Sherpa...! Rest In Peace Babu...

  • sooo...... whats the point in gettin on dat shithole?

  • i could do longer

  • @willimax18

you could not, you do not realise how cold it is

  • @willimax18 do you know how hard it is to breath up there?

i cant beleve he doesnt have a oxegin tank.

  • What is he saying? I caught bits of it, but the combination of his thick accent, the video camera, and the winds, make it hard to understand.

Words cannot express how incredible this feat is. There's a reason they call it the Death Zone. Prior to this, it was thought to be humanly impossible to survive at this altitude for this long. I guess the scientists weren't studying sherpas in their tests LOL

  • It's sad that sherpas like Babu have to do these crazy risky things just to get 1/10th the recognition of someone like Ed Viesturs. Not putting down Viesturs, as he deserves every ounce of recognition he's gotten. Just saying that sherpas get so little doing their everyday work that they have to take risks like this to get ANY recognition.

Sherpas are the best mountaineers in the world, hands down.

  • babu sherpa was hands down one of the most radical mountaineers on the planet.

    RIP Babu

  • @squamishAlpinist what happened to him?

  • Hello. It is a nice video. May I up-load this clip and use it in a film that become broadcast in a Greenlandic tv-station?

Please answer me so quick as possible!

  • go back down man..

  • I heard wimps complain that they just don't have the genetic ability to keep up with the Sherpas on climbs, but this extra ordinary effort proves its will power and not just genetics.

  • wtf! did he stayed up there in 21 hours!

    he has my respect!!!

I've seen the program "Everest, beeond the limit" and I saw a man die, on the way down, and this guy stay up there for 21 hours amazing, so incredible!!!;D

  • @scharling15

Sherpas have lived around 18 000ft for 500 years so their exploitation of oxygen is way more efficient than ours. Western himalayists truly amaze me because they climb those 8000ers peaks alpine style: no supplemental oxygen(like sherpas), no fixed ropes, no pre established camps.. That's the real deal!

  • @scharling15 Do the world a favor and never type anything ever again.

  • @scharling15 I think he was sick or something i saw in GWR 2011

  • how wud he hav enuf gas tanks for 21 hours

  • 1 tank is good for 10 hours... so yeah.

  • he didnt use oxygen.. so that wasnt an issue

  • Wow incredible!
