Klöden ended up being second in 2006. Pereiro was already 28 minutes behind after the Pyrenees and just got back due to a huge tactical mistake of Landis and Klöden, because they allowed Pereiro to finish a stage in a breakaway group 30 minutes ahead of the peloton. That means that Klöden was actually the strongest rider of the TDF 2006 and only lost due to that huge tactical mistake. That's why he's the real winner to me, but everyone thinks differently about that.
@MrGrunz Cycling isnt just about strength though is it, we all know its a huge tactical challenge as well.
In many cyclists own words "its a game of chess on bikes". Tactics has played a part in every victory in the modern Tour. Kloden was guilty of terrible tactics but that is part of the game, so saying he should have won because he was the strongest goes against what the tour is about these days. It takes strength and tactics in equal measures.

@MrGunz also that was with 2 ppl down at the start. Shame Astana withdrew from 2007 other wise he could have been on podium or top 5.
