  • what a depressing life for these people. i would hate living in poverty plus to top it off, a dad like what we just saw in the video.

  • Oh My God. Where did the money go!? Those "high people" stole everything.

  • im gonna adopt a girl and boy fro Indian when my birth kids are in collage or high school!

  • when the movie refers to the people in the slums as slumdogs i dont really think of it as insulting the people.I think people in the slums are very strong people. If I were put in their situation I'd probably be dead in the first 24 hours

  • the kid is cute ah ><

he should be more rich then me!!

    great movie! great acting!

  • is just a mirror of the "NEW WORLD ORDER". This kid and his family needs a home...... no sense!!!!

    '

  • @swatus • This kind of ideology is really appalling, and I don’t' understand how someone with any human knowledge can make overtly hateful and generalized statements like "fuck those Indians. They are just like blood sucker". It is depressing to see that people are talking about human beings this way. This comment is representing either someone extremely ignorant, extremely hateful or both.

  • @swatus

    TROLL!

But this is not the funny kind of trolling.

Only a complete apathetic person would say such a thing.

    Shame on u.

  • @pccrazy1000, yes i hope it too but like his father said, they need the money now not when kid reach 18 years.

  • shame on you Danny Boyle!! you made millions of dollar by the help of indian casts. At least you should help the kids who played very well in the movie.

you would not be become slumdog if you provide them food, shelter, cloth, education and health.

"Only achieving Awards and Honours is not your success"

  • Azharuddin Mohammed Ismail is in another film now !

  • what movie?

  • this movie was a blockbuster hit around the world. isnt it?..so i think the producer might have gt lot of money back...so y cnt they help him giving a gud home or smething like tht ...cause this kid has acted really well in tht movie..!!!

  • Slum Dog Millionaire is the biggest joke ever! First of all, it was a movie made to make cash out of misery! Kids in indian slums live in abject poverty and the movie just exploited it. The producers and directors made money, fame and won oscars! But that didnt change anything for the movie star, let alone the slum dwellers situation. It would be stupid to hope that a movie could bring about such a change, because nobody can help india, it is doomed, destined to die, because of over population.

  • so your thinking about India is this.. well dude.. you have seen the poverty but fail to understand its begning...India was richest in world till 1850 AD (till british arive in India). Its GDP was largest in the world and its export was 2nd largest, making upto 25% of worlds total exports..So something might have happened during in the British rule, right.. You simply dont wory about India .. Its a country which has potential not only to rise but to lead as well.. good luck!!

  • Poor "Salim" his father Ismail Mohammed died from tuberculosis shortly afterwards in September 2009. I hope he learns english soon. he was the only child who didn;t say a word at the red carpet. It was so sad even thoug he is so TALENTED.

  • they got the price but they dont pay them right !!!!

  • yea, they should pay him right, I hope the kids and their families will be alright, I hope the trust funds will help them when they're 18

  • oh my god his dad sounds horrible, like he resents his son 4 success shouldnt he be happy for him?

  • that is FUCKED UP.

  • the movie makers could at least buy them a decent home

  • the movie makers should atleast get them a home in england or the USA not just a home in india because that would still be shit for some one that is in a movie that got 8 oscars thats fucking amazing and i dont believ it wow i guess some people are destined to be poor as dirt

  • The Diector Danny Boyle stated that funds have been created for the kids ; they will only use it at their majority; their school fees will also be paid til their majority. If they had given the money to the fathers, probably they would have spent it in a month. This is the third world, people. I just in a few years, when they will 15 or 16, they will be sent in England, to pursue their studies; and I pray for Little Latika especially.

  • Does anybody here know what kind of background that little Jamal has? He speaks pretty fluent English so does he come from a middle or upper class Indian family?

  • I understand that the Indian government is now moving them into a home. This little boy will also get many other offers and opportunities from Bollywood. The kid is just too talented to pass up. And I understand that the Producer is assuring that he WILL get an education. That is probably the most important thing anyone could do for him. And providing he stays in school, he will get a huge cash settlement when he turns 18.

  • feel sorry for that boy

  • the farther got sick and they had to spend all the money on medicine , they were only paid 500 for thwe whole year ,

  • This kid's father blew up all the money he got from the movie. He could easily have have started a small business with that money and could have lead a life of dignity.

Instead of being grateful, he now blames the makers of Slumdog and the Indian Govt. for his sorry plight.

This video essentially summarizes the sorry state indian muslims find themselves in. Instead of using the opportunities being provided to them, they want more and more subsidies, more reservations...!!!

    This is exactly how

  • he didnt get enough money u idiot. this movie got 8 oscars the kid should been payed millions not hundreds or thousands

  • If Media Or Other Advertisement Agency Give Ismail Chance To Do Some Add For Any Brand Even If Music Director Give Chance To Him In Their Music Album I Suppose Little Contribution Can Help Him Lot Who Really Requires So That He Can Earn For Proper Education,HealthCare,Livelihood,Home.

  • i bet this star got paid very little being from a poor country the movie makers were prob. able to get away w/ paying him peanuts...sad!

  • These people are making it up. Want to make it to the news.

  • No ive heard and i think they menssioned it in that video too that the kids with take the money when they become adults(and those are MUCH money) but now nothing!

  • we dont think you are dogs. The name actually tarnishes the people living in upperclass india..it makes us angry at them because of the snobbish way they treat you human beings,...we dont think you are dogs.

  • all these fools talking about aww r stupid in a couple of weeks their are going to forget about them if u do feel sad give him some money

  • Hey Danny Boy (A.K.A Greedy Pig)! Please pay all of the child actors in the movie the money that they deserve NOW (NOT LATER!!!) from the millions that you made from the movie. They are BARELY surviving over there!!! Without them, this movie would have just have been mediocre at best.

  • wow!!!

I read the comments and I am truly amazed!

I can not believe that after such a successful film these children continue to live in poverty.....

    this is very sad =(

  • i bet u you have already forgot about the slumdog kids stop acting like you care and if u do send money

  • if I lived near or in India, help in some way but I live too far...

moreover I do not have much money!

I work to live in this country...

I will never forget this movie nor children!!!

if you have money can help to them....not believe????

  • SHACK! its a shame this child who was a star on the biggest movie of the year is now homeless..so whos to blame BOLLYWOOD and ENGLAND producers thats who! what did they do to them slum child stars pay them nothing..dam! i would sue the movie and all that went it..the movie people should hold there head high now..what a shame poor kids!

  • Payment from the film has vanished in dailey expenses? Geez!

How much did they get, one penny for every $10 million dollars made by movie?

    Unbelievable!

  • wow, you would think the directors would donate to them, I mean they did make us think about how bad it is, but the greedy are going to stay greedy just to keep there life style or riches while others don't even have rags. Well there goes man kind.

  • i kinda agree with you...

  • very ironic

  • Comment removed

  • I'm not an indian... but you have no right to call humans Dogs... Calling a human dog makes you even a BIGGER DOG!!!

Living in slums is way harder then the kind of life your living.. If they are dog then you are a middles class mothafucka

  • I'm just joking, I have lots of indian friends. dont take it so hard. glad your defending them.

  • give em a tenth; even that would most likely secure a futre him... what would Jesus do?.. think.

  • As an American male, we use the word dog as affection toward other men, but i also have friends in India and find that they really see the word very differently. So i find myself really trying not to us the word My Dog, even though i think it, because i do Love my Indian brothers so much. My Indian friends use the word, and don't seem to be a fended by it, they just don't know why a person would want to be called that. "A Dog"

  • God Willing Danny tu sala is se bhy buri halat mein hoga soon...

  • just because these kids belong to poor familes they dont know law and nobody will listen to them.. DANNY ripped them off because he knows these poor ppl can't do anything to him.. How come danny never took ANIL KAPOOR's money?? cuz Anil is star danny knows he can do alot.. guyz this is the truth of evil rich basratds.. They ripp people off just like these poor kids got ripped off...

  • WTF!!! Danny you fuckin bastard cunt.. bhenchod sala kuttay.. you made a movie tht has collected 200 million worldwide you fuckin took all the money and gave it to older slumdog stars yet the toughest role tht these kids did they don't get shit?? fuckin idiot pay them money u cunt they deserve it..

  • the boy in the white tshirt 's scratching his balls at the very end

  • I see your checking little boys crotches!

  • AHAHHA! u caught me!

  • lmao!

  • thats a damn shame....

i thought theses kids would be rollin in the dough from this movie.

like tha movie is soo fuckin good. it has became my favorite movie.... like seriously. and it kills me to know that the kids in this great movie are livin like this.....hollywood is just somethin else...

  • That really makes me mad!!! Hollywood can use him to make their movie, but they can't put him into a descent place to live? That is B.S..... Bunch of greedy bastards.... Over 100million dollars grossed, and this child has to live like this!!! It makes me feel a bit better knowing that the child is too young to feel any anger or resentment. It appears he is still a happy young boy, but still people!!! Give him what you owe him and his family!!!

  • this film got millions and all he asks 4 is a house!u

  • this movie has grossed over 100 millions of dollars worldwide. Buy him a freakin house. That's all he's asking for!

  • over 300 million dollars or 14,887,500,000 rupee

  • I know, now hes homeless at the moment, they said they'll rebuild their shack for them but its on the outskirts of the town and its far away from jobs and stuff, as soon as i saw the movie, i thought these kids would be rich off the movie, living up a miracle but now i just want to see them make it out of there and drop kick those movie hungry bastards in the face!

  • what the shit was that...!!? with out this kids that movie wouldnt reach that far...

  • god, and this is the harsh reality

  • danny fkin boyle shud be ashamed of himself

this kids family shud be paid enough to be able to afford a decent house

    wtf!!!!!!

  • 400 dollar?for real?u gotta be shittin me

  • Actually that's sad because they only get the money they earned when they turn 16 or 18 because of the trust fund which is like a contract. For now when the kid needs anything his manager should be providing things that he needs like schooling and also shelter for free.

  • How can be his father happy? Jus look where they live????!!!!

  • that's the miracle. he doesn't need money or possessions to have wealth and happiness

  • Finality, someone who really gets it. Thank you

  • why

  • danny boyle the director is giving them apartments worth 20,000..hes trying to help them out long term wise and helping there parents out with jobs cuz the one of the dad has tuberculosis and the other dad broke his leg..and the mom is blind on one eye..giving them cash is not enough, people could use them or take advantage of it..

  • dam the dad is right..sometimes you need the money now, especially when you hit rock bottom

  • Don't like the father. It sounds like the father is jealous of the sons success, he should be happy and proud of him.

  • There's nothing much more cruel for these kids. It's like to give a present and then want it back. These chilren have feelings, rich dopes! They're not something to throw out. U wanna know how much the little kids got for their's roles? 400 dollars. It's a shame producers :/

  • what, only 400 ?!? that's disgusting.

  • And did not get 400 it was much more.

  • Actually they set up a trust fund for the kids. When they turn 16 or 18 they get all the money they earned.

  • you must be kidding.. 400 dollars, i don't believe you, sorry..

  • he is soo hot

  • thats not fucking funny at all. think before u speak u brat

  • the film hasnt even come out yet everyone will be buying it!, the money will roll in i reckon, what a prick your lucky that kids in that film , be greatfull man , get a plane to new york or sumthin and stop moaning! lol

    i love these kids tho!!!

  • how he could he do that he cant afford it

  • "My kid became a hero, I'm living like a zero, this is my shaq"

  • he and his family were given 2500$ for the entire movie...but he can use that money when he's 18...

I mean, the entire film was about 15 million USD, they will earn many many many times more than 15 mio. just with the cinemas, merchandising, DVDs, etc etc...and they give 2500$ to one of the main actors whose family is trying to survive in the slums of mumbai...

  • you are so right

  • hmmm for those idots who say child labour is wrong.

most of those kids working is means of survival...if child labor shit is extended....then they would literrally starve to death...or in a worst case scenario they could become criminals....get what im saying...

  • that kid's dad sounds like an ignorant grouch

  • giving them a big house is not the right thing, a good education is. They might live in slum, but they are surrounded by friends and people.here in usa my son lives in a big house yet no friends, his only friends psp computer play station,etc....

  • i cannot believe the producers woul not ven get his family a house that is so stupid

  • this is so sad! but im sure he'll get far because he was so amazing in "slumdog"

  • Oh, and about the child labor comment, come to India and see just what child labor means. Its illegal for children to work, but on every traffic light you see children begging, at every train station you see children shining shoes or doing odd jobs, whatever they can to earn some rupees for their families. Its great for the West to wax lyrical over the whole child labor thing, but over here its a matter of survival for many families. Thats the reality that the West ignores most of the time.

  • The slum is not a one-way street. I live in Bombay and I know a lot of people who have started life in a slum and have worked hard to make something of their lives, eventually moving out of the slum (yes to an apartment with a flush toilet!) and still speak of their childhood in the slum as the happiest moments of their life.

  • 'Left them in the slums to defend for themselves'. What kind of mindless comment is that? These kids have families, friends, a community. The slums are very poor and dirty, but you can't rip a child away from the love he or she has known all his short life just to give him a flush toilet and a pair of designer shoes. Danny is doing exactly the right thing. With education, these kids can grow up to make a better lives for themselves and for their families.

  • kid is cursein! i speal their lan&u&e

  • This is such a pity!!

  • No difference between Mamman and Danny Boyle and the producers.

They both treated the kids well in the short term, They both used the kids and made lots of money and they both left them in the slums to fend for themselves!

  • Totally agree with u. If they could called people slumdogs, I think danny boyle has every right to be called a SCUMDOG!

  • I wish they could do it. There are almost 1,2 billion people living in India and lots of them in slums like in the movie. If they supported some kids what would be with the others? Anyway he seems happy in the way of his own. There must be films like this to call people's attention to the problems of the developing countries.

  • Oh God, please help to grant this little angel his wish! Thank you mighty God. Amen.

  • HOW ARE DIRECTORS GOING TO SPREAD A MESSAGE WITHOUT EXPLOITING THE EMOTIONAL ASPECT OF LIFE IN INDIA?? It could have been named slum kids, but I'm pretty sure no one would even have given it a second glance.

Slumdog isn't meant to exploit or to disgrace, if anything it's raising awareness and promoting a sense of change. It's sad that people don't understand this. instead of arguing about this, think of something to help. What hypocrites.

  • What a disgrace. HOw is this story any better than child labour? Is it no wonder that these people start to hate the West, when, even idiot movie directors exploit children, make millions of dollars of their backs and then leave them in shacks. What a joke.

  • Him and the litle girl that played child Latika were the only 2 main children in the movie that came from slums, the rest of the children are middle - high class. But all the other "extras" in the movie are from slums aswell. What about them?

  • No, one boy and one girl.

  • this kid is the most suitable for the role of young saleem ,, and i'm wondering why the media is so surprised about his real life,, ?? i know why ,, because this kid has made it ,, and gave the world a lesson that the real diamond coms from the bottom of the earth,,

imagin if this film didn't won any award ,, what will happen? nothing ,, now one will remember this kid ,, but because he has made it ,, they will remember him forever,,

god bless you kid ,, you r a hero now ,,

  • you know what ~~~~~~~~

i think no one els can play that role of young saleem better than this kid,, why ?

because he wasn't acting ,, this is his reall life ,,

btw ,, imagin if this film didn't win any award, do you think any one will remember these kids,, (exepty those who really appreciate the arts ?? i don't think so ,, but becasue they are heros ,, and they made it ,, that's why the media is trying to compare their real life to the film,,

god bless you kid,, you r a hero now ,,

  • u made a nice comment, but u kinda said he has no acting talent...that's not true, the point this video was trying to get across was yeah, he lives in a slum but not like the movie. and just cuz ppl are living in slums doesnt mean they have no dignity. this kid has talent and i hope him and the little girl make it

  • i've never ment that accually ,, the kid is more than talented,,that's why i called him a hero ,,when i said he was'nt acting i ment that in a possitive way , and that will be a very good start for him ,, specially at this age ,,

  • Only two of the kids that acted in slumdog millionaire are really form the slums. Rest of the kids are not poor. They are form the middle class.

  • 3 kids.. the little boys and the little grl

  • no kid deserves to be living in such places...in fact no ones does..

  • The kids are not still living in the slums. By the time they went to the oscars the director of the movie and the Indian Government moved ALL THE KIDS AND THEIR PARENTS to the suberbs of of Mumbi. ALL THE KIDS ARE IN SCHOOL and THEY DON'T STILL LIVE IN THE SLUMS!

  • Actually they are still living in the slums. They have to wait for housing to be built.

  • Unbelieveable how their parents and the film industry use these poor kids. Someone should take them away from their abusive parents, adopt them and move them to a decent home.

    I will pray for them

  • Who said all the slum childrens parents are abusive? Just because they are poor doesn't make them bad parents. They can't help it.

That poor boy's dad hit him but they're not all like that.

  • i agree...

its not their fault, do u ppl think they like living in slums? they do the best they can, it just happens that they were born into poverty

i know a guy who used to live in the slums, and he had wonderful parents

  • how would u kno if the parents were abusing them? dont make stuff up

  • oh god...this is so sad....

why the fuck is the world so messed up!

  • WHERE INDIA FILM ASOCIATION !!!

    damn !!!

  • ....using the poor?....nothing new, but I sure wish that kid alot of good fortune.
