  • Det er keltisk musik så det "batter - det dur bare"

  • Someone uses Videostudio xD

  • @kowetas

    ...very, very badly

  • Here's a video I made that has no relevance at all

  • @MrPaddyelvis What does it matter you get still get to hear the song

  • @pinkixtheEMO

If I had wanted to just hear the song I would of put my Waterboys CD on, as it was I found myself on this video sharing site in search of a little more.

Thanx for your concerns, big love, Paddyx.

  • The best version I ever heard of this song is from Rapalje!!! <3

  • It's almost sick how good this damn track is

  • anyone else notice the similarities (sp) between this song and scallliwag by gaelic storm? haha

  • i love the video, it is every clip with the corel video shop haha

  • you cant bate class

  • 'Mike' Scott (born 14 December 1958 in Edinburgh, Scotland) is the founding member and chief songwriter of rock band The Waterboys. ... Also a good friend

  • best song ever

  • @Prancer1231 concur fine version were ye danc'in ?

  • @nalla3 Were ye askin?

  • @Johnny89Bravo if ye were danc'in to the tune !

  • @Prancer1231 Yes, the best song, but not the best version. I'm sure you did not hear the SCAFELL PIKE version, which is very rare and absolutely the BEST version of this song ever. So unfortunately noone posted it on Youtube yet. I tell you, after hearing it, you will reevaluate your opinion. Anyway the second best is the WATERBOYS version ! That's true.

  • Bloody fantastic, from my favourite album 'Room to Roam'

Scots accent - IRISH ya numpty!!!!!

  • @happeecow no it's Scottish--Waterboys are Scottish

  • @sue8765 at least the singer is

  • @sue8765 the song is scottish but the waterboys aren't. correct they were formed in edinburgh but they're a mixture of scottish irish and english musicians

  • @splodged1986 Well Mike Scott is the only founding member left in the band and he's Scottish so... Hm...

  • this for me would be the definitive version.

  • My favorite version of a song I have know all my life!

  • Bestial música do álbum "Room to Roam", de 1990. A versão single de "Fisherman`s Blues" tinha no lado B esta música ao vivo!

  • really fine, one of the best tracks on there apart from upon the wind and waves, really the best track, wickham brought something to the band

  • when did this song came out?

  • I have heard many versions of this tune and this is, musically and lyrically the most delightful and enjoyable of them.

(it took another version of the song to actually understand what was the words to the song were).

  • I am of gypsy desent and I love the song!

  • video is rubbish...but a song SO GOOD ,it doesnt matter, love that song so much!! brilliant

  • Ah, me bullocks (LOL).

    This video rocks (ROFL)!

    The song is better, though.

    :-)

  • can I see U do better ???

  • I like this version much better.

  • Setim se uvek jednog dobrog kluba u kojem se pre 20-tak godina slusala izvaredna muzika, negde u Srbiji,a zvao se Bahus.Tamo sam i cuo ovu divnu stvar.Prepoznace neko ovo o cemu pricam !

  • Is the gypsy supposed to be a man or a woman?

  • @xxXxSiLeNcExXxx The gypsy is a man and he run away with a wealthy wife.

  • Beautiful music. I recently discovered Waterboys. I like them!!!

  • One of their best

  • Classic

  • first of all... Celtic Thunder is not a boyband. second of all, i love this version too because they have all the verses!! i wish CT did

  • Why is this song so addictive?!

  • Because its excellent. :)

  • it is addictive isn't it? Carlos' version is excellent too

  • I really love this song!

    Greetings from Sweden

  • Mike Scott with Sharon Shannon (on squeezbox) version, is truely the best version ever of this song.

  • Checked out Celtic Thunder. What a joke! was waiting for Flatley to prance down the stage ha ha.Rock on Waterbo'ys.

  • Just looked up Celtic Thunder there cos everyone seems to be talkin bout their version of the song. Plastic paddy bullshit. If ya wanna hear a decent version by a true Irish artist, Christy Moore is it. Much respect to the Waterboys too. Love Stolen Child.

  • Wow - I just watched the Celtic thunder one - what Americanised weirdness! How can you preffer that psudo-folk over the Waterboys? Sorry if the Scotish rr's trouble you (actually i'm not). There is no orchistra, its folk music - it has a band. Try mad dog mcrea version...

I like the version from Somerset, England - the lyrics are more bloody.

  • unlike the idiots, celic thunder has to appeal to audiences all over the world. and unlike these people they have talent. This version puts people to sleep. Celtic Thunder version gets people up and clapping, so everyone dissing celtic thunder get your shit together and learn what some real music sounds like.

  • ya know, if you're being PC, this should be called the raggle taggle traveller.

    my ass, it should! lol

  • i love The Waterboys

  • I could swear they wrote a version of this that was slightly faster... or maybe it's my imagination

  • nope, you are right, it does sound a little slow

  • what does the video have to do with the music??

  • @Celticthunderrules:I´m from Germany and I haven´t got any problems to understand... Where´re you from?

  • Yes, because this is REAL celtic music and Celtic Thunder is pop. This is how it's supposed to sound.

    Whoo, sorry, slightly bias.

  • @notthefrenchman aye, and the album would be... 'fisherman's blues'? it's been so many a year I hardly can recall, me lads and lassie-ohs

  • @MrThomasdrewsen this is Room to Roam, but Fishermans Blues is another great

  • Barely understand? You can't make out a Scottish accent in Celtic music?

You're listening to Celtic music why?

My main problem with Celtic Thunder's version is there's nothing Celtic about them. They managed to take away the waltz beat this has and make it a decidedly non-celtic song.

They're good vocalists, but they should stick to Broadway, where they belong.

  • Comment removed

  • Bullshit u wont ever beat the original and at least these guys sing live not like the pansys on some of ur vids were they mime the words!!!

  • your off your head if u like celtic music you'll like this celtic thunder are just all about a stage show...

  • celtic thunder is about appealing to everyone. If they sang their sogns like these idiots, they would never get past ireland. and i severely doubt you can classift celtic thunder as "pop" considering they have a 50 peice orchestra.

  • But were proud of all our small little celtic acts there more us... celtic thunder are a big joke to any irish man/woman that likes there celtic music... As someone else said before me theres nothing celtic about them... I'm not dissing there work as such but for people to come on and say celtic thunder are better obviously don't know or appreciate proper celtic music!!

  • fabulous Waterboys.....Mike Scott in concert is FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • So, what does this video have to do with the song?

  • this video is brilliant

  • what you make in 40 minutes outstrips what many make in hours. I quite like the video. Until about half an hour ago, I'd never heard of the waterboys, but they are the awesomeness :-)

  • Old skool, people...old skool...

    PLANXTY!

  • cetic thunder? pah.

  • Pfft, Celtic thunder do the best version of this song!

  • I like the music from Celtic Thunder's Version, I just wish they had all these lyrics to that music.

  • FINALLY people that arent going to diss celtic thunder. thank god, i was beginning to lose hope! :)

  • I really like both versions. I too would love to hear Celtic Thunder add the other verses!

  • I think the scots accent adds something to this already brilliant song. The song originated after all I believe in the North-East of Scotland, home of so many great ballads.

  • @Slievedubh no its a border ballad from dumfrieshire recorded in the 18th century skene manuscript, 1740 Tea Time misulleny both of which are scottish and in 1840 Childes Border ballads of england and scotland where Childe said it was a very old scots tune. The events were recorded as happening in 1640 when Lady Jane Cassiles of Ayrshire ran off with a border gypsy called Davie Faa. Faw is of course still a well known border gypsy surname even to this day.

  • @Slievedubh , Right on.

I copied your comment and notthefrencman's and added it to the comments to the video i captured at Waterford's Tall Ships and posted to youtube.

    Hy

  • Celtic Thunder has a better beat! but no harm to this song...its pretty good too?

  • Celtic Thunder actually makes this song less Celtic...funny how that works, eh? They're a pop group, not a Celtic band.

  • yeah too many gimmicks and dance routines. They co-ordinate their outfit for gods sake!

  • they dont coordinate outfits! their all all dressed similar so that he focus doesnt go on one member more than the other. Wearing suits represents them showing effort and class. If you wanna be a sloppy musician, by all means dress like the bafoons.

  • Careful who you're insulting there, fella. There's a whole host of actual musicians, The Dubliners, The Chieftains, Planxty and all many more besides were by no means sloppy or unclassy and they wouldn't need a fancy wardrobe to put that boyband of yours to shame on every front.

  • weird comment

  • Damh the Bard's version is so much better. Or even The Dolmen's!

  • wow...i used 2 like celtic thunder but then i heard this...WAY better! :)

  • Raggle taggle gypsy is a scots ballad .. this is the best version sung by Mike Scott who is a scot.

  • sounds like he is singing in a shitty bar in the bogs. Bad job.

  • By far the best version. Mike´s accent is so perfect.

  • I couldn't be arsed with the Celtic Thunder version; it wasn't as lively as this song at all and that huge drum inclusion was taking the piss. This is the best and sounds as it is originally intended.

  • celtic thunder does it better.

    :)

  • i couldnt agree more with childoftheking568

  • Kale Lad, it has always been so. Throughout history there have been many songs/ stories and poems that romanticize the lifestyle of the Rom.

My family is Ruminschell. They found peace in the US running horse auction barns. I find thr song whimsical and amusing. My grandfather went on to write more stanzas for it as a joke about how the gypsy then turned around and offered the lady back to her family for ransom and the hilarity that ensued.

  • il video è di una povertà allucinante

  • love this song.

  • in song that is

  • i love this songwriter and his band waterboys...no offence to the celt..i just interested how there is fascination with the gypsy//

  • strange how the celt sings about gypsy yet as Kale Gypsies(my family and i)were hated throughout Ireland and U.k we found peace in Australia...australians just see us as 'aussies'..

  • Exactly, the Lord inquirin' for his Lady oh! Because The Gypsie "Stole her"

  • Fantastic! its Grand!

  • this song you remember all your life ......i know

  • Aww i love this song, it makes me so happy!

  • Great song, Intresting video with it?:)

  • when me n my friend first heard this song we thought it was in swedish or something XD awesome.

  • Thanks for posting.
