  • never understood competitions like this.... how in the hell does it make sense that the first person to tap you with a move is better/winner? they should do mmatype matches, but without the mma fighters... if that makes sense. or change it to mmatype rules or whatever.

  • @metalinmyveins ..karate is based on "one hit ,one kill'.

  • @DragonlordXV or if u study shotokan karate it's "one hit.one kill" to but first "one block, won fight"... :D

  • @maestrularmelor .loll...actionally i practiced karate do during 13 ans.

  • @DragonlordXV so? i mean..good i suppose that u are a black belt and good for u but in shotokan all the katas begin with a defense tehnique

  • @maestrularmelor ...it's not the same thing in the kumite you have to attack to win the point , also the kumite is the application of the kata's technics.

  • this is fucking pathetic, kyokushin 4 life OSU!

  • this is called karate...i do understand why mas oyama created kyokushin.

  • ;/ ;/

  • The best Karateka's are the ones that truly understand it. Those who are into the spiritual of it... Therefore the Asians are on the mort part better Karateka's...

  • I didn't quite understand yet how a tournament-karate-fight works.

Obviously you don't aim to knok out the opponent.

But how hard do you actually punch? 70% so he doesn't get injured? Or 100% but not actually touching him? Or do the gloves/shoes absorb enough power so it doesn't hurt to much even if you punch 100%.

It doesn't look like they are stopping the attacks before impact.

  • wqtpuu, in WKF (4 styles), kumite is NOT full-contact. It's touch-n-pullback or controlled or skin-touch sparring. This is sport karate unlike traditional karate. Deliberate knock-outs 2 e face r iligeal. Point is awarded when a technique is performed 2 6 criteria:

    Good form

    Sporting attitude

    Vigorous application

    Awareness (Zanshin)

    Good timing

    Correct distance.

Ps. most all other styles com under WUKO.

    -mac, singapore,goa(india). 2nd dan: Karate Budokan,Hayashi-ha Shitoryu,SKF

  • What Shito-Ryu sensei are you?

    Tani-Han Shito-Ryu Kofukan?

  • hi rub,

    im frm hayashi-ha shito-ryu

  • it's semi contact - 1 hit = 1 point

  • Body techniques must be 100% power and speed to score so yes it is full contact to the body. Head techniques allow contact but you must show control, this is because you must showcase your ability to deliver a deadly strike to your opponent but not giving them the full of it.

    I hope this helps

  • it's based on a point system.

landed punches are 1 point, kicks are 2

what designates a landed blow is one that makes contact with either the front or side torso, or the head.

whoever makes contact first gets the point.

  • yes..try look jaber Al hamad..in shotokan..Kuwait karate..maybe u can tell him that..u keyboard tough guy...

  • Im a karate shotokan fighter..... so idiot don't think a style of karate is better than other... and this is not a real fight karete real fights are called BUDO murron try to know your art as well ¬¬''

  • karate now days is weak. Boring and without life. You should see the karatekas from 1970 till 1990. They fought like lions. I now train full contact shotokan and bjj. katas are not for me. How can wee western race say that we understand east martial arts. we are laying to our self. Japanese, Korean and Chinese. they are true masters of mind and body. Sad for us, but true. We know to kick ass, but we don t now how to bee a better man and human being.

  • would be cool if its korea vs japan, they can use a bit of their taekwon-do :)

  • that was absolutely retarded

  • heart heart U

  • In fact, I predicted to myself that the japanese would win overwhelmingly, before watching this video - and it happened, not to my surprise. Just compare how those two fighter look - the one is 100% focused on the moment, the other one lets her thoughts and emotions wander (or so it seems). It's somehow not fair to put western people in the ring with asian people who have such deeper life understanding in their teaching.

  • I don't know anything about Karate, but it's a bit silly to see a match where a western chick tries to combat a true japanese karateka. Same thing when someone challenges Korean Taekwondokas, the others do not have a chance. In Japan, there is a lot more inner teaching in martial arts than in the western world, where many times only the moves and excercises are taught, but western culture doesn't really even understand Zen..

  • the red one was the world champ in single female kumite.

  • point sparring .. i don't see how people can stand it

i have to hold back to not go kamakazi on someone while sparring (if the opportunity arises) haha good times

  • right, kinda :)

the 'break' style where points are called after each strike is for concentration and strategy, which is super important to train.

the 'continuous' style where points are tallied throughout a fight that only stops at the end is where the real combat occurs; most point techniques don't work here since pointers train simple speed more than combos. all point techniques -can- be used effectively, but there are some that are designed for simple speed also and won't stop a kamikaze well

  • and by the way, you watch eny ufc mma or eny of those ? best fighters are karateka's.

  • lockness2008, i think you got no idea about karate, karate is all martial arts mum. every technique comes from karate.. and of course its personal that how kicks ass and who doesent, you cant say everyone how trains karate will lose a fight.

  • and to the ones didtching the sport what sport do you guys play then and is a real sport

  • you wouldn't be calling martial artists pussies when one kicks you in the ars

  • anyone who says bad things about the martial arts and is just jealous because they can't do it

  • jijitsu is the best fuck karate

  • To locknes2008: Are you a karateka my friend?? First of all, karate does not suck. It is a martial art. Due to karate's popularity nowadays, sport karate has developed so much. And remember, this is a sport karate. This is not streetfighting. If you want a kick-ass fight, go to the streets. Have you heard "Ikken Isatsu" in karate?? It means "One hit, one kill".

  • that's what all of noobs that hasn't traind karate say

  • karate sucks one punch and its over any one can take a hit and come back to beat your ass

  • LOL its obviously that you dont understand karate, no comments...

  • christ, everyone that keeps saying tis is rubbish no kicks, its a game of tig/tag learn the rules. its a shorted=ned klip of 3 minute fights, there are kicks just not in this section. it is low level contact but thats because the emphasis is on skill, speed, distance and timing. this is a sport not a compitition to see who ca knowck who out. the people here that compete at world level choose how hard they hit you, not tghe other way round.

  • WHAT A FUCKING JOKE!

  • where did u get this video from?

  • Ppl forget wat these competitions mean anymore.... to do kata will take a lifetime to understand what the movements really mean, kata is for the practitioner to improve oneself in his/her movements. Kumite is suppose to test oneself in defence and attack techniques. I practice both, although i do favour kata more, i still think kumite is really important and its fun too coz i get to see whether i can improve on my techniques or something like that

  • YEW KYOKUSHIN FTW!!! THIS SHIT IS FOR REATARDS !!!! ITs ON PAR WITH HURLING!

GO PLAY A REAL SPORT U PUSSIES!

  • take it from an expert i train under mohhamed fitian gold world chamionship winner kumtie is best but kata isnt the worst

  • Why would a Spaniard think she has a chance against an Asian?

  • that's a ridiculous question. if they study exactly the same style of karate, whoever is more physically gifted and trains more often is going to be the better one. it has nothing to do with their race.

  • Huh? Looks more like a game of tag with closed fists. This is not sparring. Where are the kicks?

  • karate as a sport and an art is a lot more complete than TKD.But fortunately kumite isnt an olympic sport because people would start to think that karate is only kumite.Karate is one of the most complete and complex art there is.

Fortunately Shotokan Karate and competitive karate came to my life

  • yeah true

  • Im english, and we play rough. Kumite is the best, there is no use in kata for me. Pure self defence and fighting.

  • If you want real Karate join Kyokushin Karate, or traditional Okinawin styles. Most american Karate dojos are jokes that only teach pussy point fighting and endless kata.

  • Totally agree My OSensei was Master Robert Trias. Okinawan Shuri Ryu is so devastating that it's hard to look at my own tournament clips without wincing =D

  • haha japan no good in kumite only kata

  • the karate is the best the tae kwon do sucks

  • TKD is more active and more flowing. When i did Karate i had the same opinion than you - cause when i thought of TKD i always saw those guys doing their olympic chicken dance, but this is WTF!

I totally changed my mind. Today i was searching on YouTube to see something of my past (some Karate vid) - and i have to admitt once again: strating with TKD was the best decision in my "Sports-Life" so far!

  • Well as for me your comment sucks!

I did over 10 years Karate myself, but last year i switched over to ITF Taekwon-Do. And nowadays i have to admitt that from my point of view TKD is the best the Karate suck!

  • Actually you just "sucked" at Karate.

  • haha of course Japan's gonna win. haha
