This is going to sound retarded but it totally worked for me. I HATE the gym, I HATE running, therefore I needed something different. Im a girl of course so maybe if you're a girl you'd take it more into consideration... but... I do... DDR! hahaha... great cardio... seriously... give it a try, its fun, its music, you get to shake your ass... watch your gf shake her ass... works wonders. and of course eat better blah blah blah.
I do Tae Bo and love it =) yes I am in shape but count your calories (even if it means measuring out the food you eat, cause thats what I do), Work out for at least 40 min a day 4-5 days a week (at least thats what my personal trainer said when I was going to the Rush...but then it got too expensive), Also, try to do fat blasting workouts with a little Cardio too. Cardio gets the heart going and in turn speeds up the metabolism. Last, Take fiber..it expands in your stomach making you less hungry

are you counting the calories in your coffee and green tea? unless it's straight black coffee you're probably consuming a huge amount of calories that way. not to mention drinking that much caffeine (green tea and coffee are similar in caffeine) will cause you to retain water and cause you to be less active, as well as to weigh more. it also plays major havoc on your mood.
drink your calories not eat them , sleep more and eat b4 sleeping, move around less. i was way to skinny now im 265 pounds bec i was sick of being called a twig but now im called fat ass by some, so be careful to how much u gain and dont become lazy.
following this is a list of the most important things to change, but you must also become active. weightlifting is pretty good. it allows your body to burn more Calories at rest, but the action itself burns very little Calories or fat. To do that you must get up a good sweat. Don't like to run? Bike it. Don't bike? Go swimming or hiking. Even walking up the 2 floors of stairs to class every day instead of taking the elevator will lose you 8 lbs worth of energy every year. Any little bit helps

1. soda's are around 200 (Calories) kilocalories a pop. that's 200,000 calories. cut out the sodas and most people with 25% bodyweight will lose 15 lbs.
2. serving size. in america serving size is rediculously large. if you go out to eat share the meal with a buddy
3. sleep. believe it or not this is very important. shoot for 7-8hrs exactly

4. caffeine. it's gotta go. natural energy from food is far better than psychological drugs like caffeine, guarana, and sugar. caffeine is a very strong psychoactive drug, but most people take it in very low doses. still is very bad.
5. sugar is more addictive than cocaine to your body and brain. give it respect as a formidable opponent. it's very hard to kick
6. to go meals are quick right away, but you'll pay for it later in increased fat, cholesterol, and increased risk of early death

I would recommend running with a group of friends. For example, I joined cross country at my school freshmen year at 140 pounds and did winter and spring (aiming for 12 seasons now). Now I am in the middle of sophmore year and am still 140 pounds and I am defenitly taller. It is great exercise and I find it really fun. If you are not playing a sport in high school I would competly recommend going your school's track program.
I didnt want to loose weight. I wanted to get healthier, so this summer I filled my fridge with fruits and veggies and healthy crap and since I love to cook I found ways to make gross become great. I lost ten pounds in like, a week. Then I started running on the treadmill for 1/2 an hour daily. eventually that lead to more excersize...so in the end I lost like 20lbs. I feel hot. Thats a good feeling. :]

Unfortunately for me, I'm an ectomorph; it is really hard for me to gain weight and/or muscle. So, I am on the other end of the spectrum; I have been working out a lot; trying to put on weight through muscle. I weighed 107 pounds around the time that I started, which was about a couple months ago and now I'm about 112, and I'm only 16 years old, so I'm pretty skinny and underweight I guess. So, I have to struggle with gaining weight..lol

Dude check out my video response titled hard gainers! I had your problem three years ago, but now I've put on about 40lbs of muscle in 3 years....check out my channel and see my most recent vid. Good luck, just eat more calories ~3000 per day, and lift heavy...you'll see the pounds adding up. But then you're still 16, that's very young, so give youself time 'til you're about 21 and see if you still have the same problem.
I lost 15 pounds just by eating better. I cut out a lot of junk food and don't really drink soda anymore. I stopped snacking before bed. I drink tons of water and have a few cups of green tea every day. Now if I could just get my ass to the gym....

If you're still interested in keeping up with your weight-loss vlogs, I'd be down for that. I was actually just thinking about it. Being accountable and checking in with everyone on a regular basis helps keep you on track.
yeah, but he wants to gain muscle too...he doesn't just want to be skinny....he can eat small healthy meals about 6x/day but lift weights and do some cardio. A bit more time on cardio though to cut down fat, but also do about 1 hr of resistance training (lifting weights) to gain muscle so that you can boost your metabolism and burn fat, and look sexy, haha. That's it!
My recommendation to add to all the rest is: stop driving. Seriously. If you have to walk everywhere, or at least to and from bus stops if you're not close to where you need to go, you'll get a lot of built in exercise without having to "go and exercise." Likewise do things like take the stairs, not the elevator, etc. It adds up!

If you have a ''sweet tooth'' then go make a 'shake' as i call it :) just get some frozen strawberrys, melon put it in the blender and add some low fat yoghurt and just mix it up.. helps alot if you have some bad habits...
When it comes to losing weight its not bout being on a diet but bout changing how you live. You just have to keep a balance. You should try not 2 eliminate anything from your diet cause you will end up binging later. ALWAYS eat breakfast. It kicks starts your metabolism right away. But 1 thing that rele works...FIBER. I know its totally an old lady thing but by having things /w high fiber (wheat bread for one) you stay satisfied for longer. GL! :)
It's not about going on a DIET, It's bout "changing how you live" (hence change to lifestyle, as you said) They're 2 different things. Diets are temporary. A change to how you live can be 4ever. That is what I was trying 2 say. I wasn't using "diet" meaning the food you eat (as you imply) but the crazy things people do 2 lose weight that don't last. Like cutting out carbs. It's all about having a balance and eating the bad thing in moderation. Hopefully that is clear enough for u.
True however to change ones lifesytle is extremely hard the easiest way is to take stepping stones and i see dieting as a large stepping stone to ones future. You have to be extremely motivated and strong willed to both stay on a diet and change your lifestyle, also i do not count many things as dieting, for me a diet is a regular eating regime that takes place daily for an extended period of time not any of those lose weight quick schemes. My diet lasted 6 months and i lost over 60 pounds.
Also i totally agree with you when you say that most diets are crazy and in most cases unrealistic( such as the no carb diet) however one can imply such drastic diets to lose weight quickly over a short amount of time that actually do work such as ketosis. Also one must not only diet but also maintain a active lifestyle to be healthy, physical workouts in addition to cardio ups your metabolism with is always good :)
eating cake is good for losing weight trust me im skinny and also you really cant tell phil's overweight from his vids cause most fat people have like fat faces and you can see it in their cheeks and chin and stuff
diet and excercise is the key to losing weight (of course, who doesn't know that) to lose weight, you need to burn more calories than you consume. Not always easy especially with the holiday's coming up!

In total, I lost 40kg of fat (88lbs), I lost my first 10kg when I started training and ate like I did b4.
But I lost 30kg in a year from just eating healthy and eating a small portion of food every 2.5hr. Even tho lately I seem to have fallen abit off the vagon, I dont eat as healthy as I used to even tho I keep the schedule. So im not gaining weight, but not losing it either.

Exactly 30 days and I'm down 20lbs to 195 from 215. 5 days a week P90X and the P90X nutrition plan which has me eating all kinds of weird expensive foods I'd never heard of before.
Talking to DeFranco here: Dude, it really doesn't matter too much what you eat (so long as you stay away from trans fats and such, use your better judgement), you just have to speed up your metabolism. Do that by eating smaller portions more times a day.
that's almost exactly what my weight loss program entails and i have lost 68 lbs in the last 3 months. but make sure you get enough protein so you don't lose muscle mass
You don't have to eat Subway, just a lot of sammiches like theirs. Seriously, I started working there 2 months ago and I lost 2 pant sizes from eating it about 3 times a week.

I stay in shape with Kenpo Karate, Submission Arts Wrestling (grappling), and Kickboxing. Why? Because I'm small, a woman, and radiate "target" to the creepy men in this town of mine.
So yeah, I kick my own ass in to shape every day. I spend 5 days a week exercising, 1 hour of Karate on Mondays, 1.5 hrs on Tuesday of Kickboxing and Grappling, rest on Wednesday, 1.5 hrs on Thursday of Karate and Grappling, 1hr on Friday of Karate, 1.5 hrs on Saturday of Grappling, and rest on Sunday.
This sounds like a really good Idea I'm going to do this as well I could really lose some more weight I have been doing thing before this and I have lost about 30lbs in the last 5 months but I still have a ways to go... Sorry I really dont like to do the video thing.
one of the best, yet hardest things to do is to cut out juice/soda, basically anything besides water. now of course not completely, just decrease it a lot, everything in moderation. also losing weight is 80% food, 20% exercise, so yea like junebug said, decrease portions
working out is hard to make a commitment to do, and actually do it. One thing that can help you lose weight is cut back a little at a time on portions, and dont eat late, dont eat anything for the four hours before you go to bed. and drink more fluids, sometimes you can fill yourself up just by drinking
The only thing that bothers me is the people on here saying work out more screw diet. Sorry but I know very healthy looking people who got diabetes and being someone who lost a parent and other relatives to the disease you should try to eat healthy. All that sugar and fat in your food can cause increased blood pressure a higher heart rate higher blood sugar and it can mess up glucose levels.
You may not notice what it does to you until your in your 40s but it is sad when you do.

I'm not advertising or anything this is just from personal experience but seeing you have an iPhone, the "Lose It!" app is great. It allows you to set weigh goals and log everything you each with its huge database of foods. A foolproof way to lose weight if you ask me :)

Thanks for being a smartass. Here is an actual Pro tip. It's not always about how much you eat, it's about what you eat. If you don't eat enough your metabolism goes down. So say you eat very little, but of things that aren't good for you, you will still get fat, but if you eat a decent amount of food that is good for you, you'll feel better, more energized, and keep your metabolism up with the help of exercise.

Well I'd be more inclined to listen on what you have to say, if you weren't obviously biased towards the subject, assuming thats you in your avatar. Haha, I have a little extra weight and I've been there before. There are people that never gain weight no matter what they do and people that gain weight unless they work 24/7 to be skinny their entire life. That's how I know. My weight has been back and forth since I was a teenager. If you've never been through it personally then you can't say shit. There are millions of people that have the same problems with their weight and have probably read this comment to know what I'm talking about.
I've known plenty of people who have been overweight and just said to themselves "You know what, i'm going to get to a healthy size" and stayed there. The problem is that you might be able to get there, but don't have enough discipline to do what's neseccary for your ideal figure. 5 months ago I weighed around 225lbs. First thing I did was switch to diet pop and lowfat everything. I go and run 3 days out of the week and just watch what I eat. I now weight 170lbs. :D
Nice Job on all the people that have lost weight. I think that everyone (who physically can) should be a respectable weight. I know this is unrealistic but thats what I think.
if you haven't figured it out im a gym rat. I'm in there maybe 2 or 3 days a week for 30 minutes, that's it. i don't eat right at all, i drink 2-4 soda's a day. I just turn the access weight into incentive to move heavy shit. It was a slow proces started out weighing around your weight but i was only 16 and imagining the bar was my stomach like "your not welcome here!". after a year i was down to 190, mostly muscle so yeah. fuck a diet get a bench press.

I know how you feel bro. I was a FAT kid weighing at 125. I was always picked on for it. Guess what happened? I'm 5'7.5", 16 years old, and still 125. Really sucks to be overweigh because it is a hard thing to deal with and I promised myself I would never let myself go back to being fat again. I only eat tops 2 meals a day and I only get like baby servings because my stomach can handle a little bit of food. I'm still healthy though! Traumatized much? lol Good luck on the diet! =)

i currently weigh 89.8kg or 198lb but im 6foot 2 which according to wolfram alpha (awesome search engine) im 7.6kg(16.9lb) overweight so i think i'll join in too... i currently do 0 excersize so i'll double it as a start. XD
Most of losing weight would come from eating less I think. Obviously I don't mean giving up eating all together like some ppl do haha. But just having smaller meals than usual could make it easier to lose more weight. Not eating a crap load of extra snacks like crackers, ice cream, cookies, candy, etc. Or no okay maybe just for Halloween haha.
Yeah I know the deal here.. I did not actually gain any weight this year but spent so much time watching Phil videos that about 5kgs transferred from my muscular limbs to my stomach. Chris Farleyisation set in.
So yeah.. time to start jogging a bit and maybe some ab work too heh.

you have to be like me and be entirely delighted to eat the same things daily I guess heh.
Replace all your sugary drinks with water and lemon. (Occasional coffee/beer is cool, but they're calories too). Don't snack unless it's fruit/veggies, and up the workouts!
pick up boxing, one of the hardest and most rewarding workouts around. you'll feel like a newborn man after a couple of these and you'll be in shape in no time. just remember no pain no gain there is no cutting corners in getting in shape

i eat less than 1,200 calories aday and i don't eat beef or pork.
no, not because i'm anorexic or a wanna be vegetarian.
that amount fills me up and keeps me going.
plus i drink A LOT of black coffee, water, and green tea. :)

are you counting the calories in your coffee and green tea? unless it's straight black coffee you're probably consuming a huge amount of calories that way. not to mention drinking that much caffeine (green tea and coffee are similar in caffeine) will cause you to retain water and cause you to be less active, as well as to weigh more. it also plays major havoc on your mood.

following this is a list of the most important things to change, but you must also become active. weightlifting is pretty good. it allows your body to burn more Calories at rest, but the action itself burns very little Calories or fat. To do that you must get up a good sweat. Don't like to run? Bike it. Don't bike? Go swimming or hiking. Even walking up the 2 floors of stairs to class every day instead of taking the elevator will lose you 8 lbs worth of energy every year. Any little bit helps

this might be a little short and to the point, but here's a list of stuff that will change your body. to lose weight you must first change your lifestyle
1. soda's are around 200 (Calories) kilocalories a pop. that's 200,000 calories. cut out the sodas and most people with 25% bodyweight will lose 15 lbs.
2. serving size. in america serving size is rediculously large. if you go out to eat share the meal with a buddy
3. sleep. believe it or not this is very important. shoot for 7-8hrs exactly

4. caffeine. it's gotta go. natural energy from food is far better than psychological drugs like caffeine, guarana, and sugar. caffeine is a very strong psychoactive drug, but most people take it in very low doses. still is very bad.
5. sugar is more addictive than cocaine to your body and brain. give it respect as a formidable opponent. it's very hard to kick

I would recommend running with a group of friends. For example, I joined cross country at my school freshmen year at 140 pounds and did winter and spring (aiming for 12 seasons now). Now I am in the middle of sophmore year and am still 140 pounds and I am defenitly taller. It is great exercise and I find it really fun. If you are not playing a sport in high school I would competly recommend going your school's track program.

I didnt want to loose weight. I wanted to get healthier, so this summer I filled my fridge with fruits and veggies and healthy crap and since I love to cook I found ways to make gross become great. I lost ten pounds in like, a week. Then I started running on the treadmill for 1/2 an hour daily. eventually that lead to more excersize...so in the end I lost like 20lbs. I feel hot. Thats a good feeling. :]

Unfortunately for me, I'm an ectomorph; it is really hard for me to gain weight and/or muscle. So, I am on the other end of the spectrum; I have been working out a lot; trying to put on weight through muscle. I weighed 107 pounds around the time that I started, which was about a couple months ago and now I'm about 112, and I'm only 16 years old, so I'm pretty skinny and underweight I guess. So, I have to struggle with gaining weight..lol
Yeah, I have the opposite problem of a lot of people......

Dude check out my video response titled hard gainers! I had your problem three years ago, but now I've put on about 40lbs of muscle in 3 years....check out my channel and see my most recent vid. Good luck, just eat more calories ~3000 per day, and lift heavy...you'll see the pounds adding up. But then you're still 16, that's very young, so give youself time 'til you're about 21 and see if you still have the same problem.

I lost 15 pounds just by eating better. I cut out a lot of junk food and don't really drink soda anymore. I stopped snacking before bed. I drink tons of water and have a few cups of green tea every day. Now if I could just get my ass to the gym....

here are my tips :
-eat smaller meals
-eat more often (about 6 meals a day)
-get some muscle for a faster calories burning metabolism.
-go jog at least 30 minutes (about 4 times a week)
-And eat good food!!
Losing weight is pretty simple you need to burn more calories then eat.

yeah, but he wants to gain muscle too...he doesn't just want to be skinny....he can eat small healthy meals about 6x/day but lift weights and do some cardio. A bit more time on cardio though to cut down fat, but also do about 1 hr of resistance training (lifting weights) to gain muscle so that you can boost your metabolism and burn fat, and look sexy, haha. That's it!

My recommendation to add to all the rest is: stop driving. Seriously. If you have to walk everywhere, or at least to and from bus stops if you're not close to where you need to go, you'll get a lot of built in exercise without having to "go and exercise." Likewise do things like take the stairs, not the elevator, etc. It adds up!

When it comes to losing weight its not bout being on a diet but bout changing how you live. You just have to keep a balance. You should try not 2 eliminate anything from your diet cause you will end up binging later. ALWAYS eat breakfast. It kicks starts your metabolism right away. But 1 thing that rele works...FIBER. I know its totally an old lady thing but by having things /w high fiber (wheat bread for one) you stay satisfied for longer. GL! :)

It's not about going on a DIET, It's bout "changing how you live" (hence change to lifestyle, as you said) They're 2 different things. Diets are temporary. A change to how you live can be 4ever. That is what I was trying 2 say. I wasn't using "diet" meaning the food you eat (as you imply) but the crazy things people do 2 lose weight that don't last. Like cutting out carbs. It's all about having a balance and eating the bad thing in moderation. Hopefully that is clear enough for u.

True however to change ones lifesytle is extremely hard the easiest way is to take stepping stones and i see dieting as a large stepping stone to ones future. You have to be extremely motivated and strong willed to both stay on a diet and change your lifestyle, also i do not count many things as dieting, for me a diet is a regular eating regime that takes place daily for an extended period of time not any of those lose weight quick schemes. My diet lasted 6 months and i lost over 60 pounds.

Also i totally agree with you when you say that most diets are crazy and in most cases unrealistic( such as the no carb diet) however one can imply such drastic diets to lose weight quickly over a short amount of time that actually do work such as ketosis. Also one must not only diet but also maintain a active lifestyle to be healthy, physical workouts in addition to cardio ups your metabolism with is always good :)

Hmm I started losing weight about 2 years ago.
In total, I lost 40kg of fat (88lbs), I lost my first 10kg when I started training and ate like I did b4.
But I lost 30kg in a year from just eating healthy and eating a small portion of food every 2.5hr. Even tho lately I seem to have fallen abit off the vagon, I dont eat as healthy as I used to even tho I keep the schedule. So im not gaining weight, but not losing it either.
I should start training again...

I stay in shape with Kenpo Karate, Submission Arts Wrestling (grappling), and Kickboxing. Why? Because I'm small, a woman, and radiate "target" to the creepy men in this town of mine.
So yeah, I kick my own ass in to shape every day. I spend 5 days a week exercising, 1 hour of Karate on Mondays, 1.5 hrs on Tuesday of Kickboxing and Grappling, rest on Wednesday, 1.5 hrs on Thursday of Karate and Grappling, 1hr on Friday of Karate, 1.5 hrs on Saturday of Grappling, and rest on Sunday.

one of the best, yet hardest things to do is to cut out juice/soda, basically anything besides water. now of course not completely, just decrease it a lot, everything in moderation. also losing weight is 80% food, 20% exercise, so yea like junebug said, decrease portions

working out is hard to make a commitment to do, and actually do it. One thing that can help you lose weight is cut back a little at a time on portions, and dont eat late, dont eat anything for the four hours before you go to bed. and drink more fluids, sometimes you can fill yourself up just by drinking

The only thing that bothers me is the people on here saying work out more screw diet. Sorry but I know very healthy looking people who got diabetes and being someone who lost a parent and other relatives to the disease you should try to eat healthy. All that sugar and fat in your food can cause increased blood pressure a higher heart rate higher blood sugar and it can mess up glucose levels.
You may not notice what it does to you until your in your 40s but it is sad when you do.

Thanks for being a smartass. Here is an actual Pro tip. It's not always about how much you eat, it's about what you eat. If you don't eat enough your metabolism goes down. So say you eat very little, but of things that aren't good for you, you will still get fat, but if you eat a decent amount of food that is good for you, you'll feel better, more energized, and keep your metabolism up with the help of exercise.
Anyone that thinks people can just stop eating to lose weight are idiots.

There are people that never gain weight no matter what they do and people that gain weight unless they work 24/7 to be skinny their entire life. That's how I know. I've known plenty of people who have been overweight and just said to themselves "You know what, i'm going to get to a healthy size" and stayed there. The problem is that you might be able to get there, but don't have enough discipline to do what's neseccary for your ideal figure. At the end of the day you can try convince me, the random guy on the internet, but it falls squarely on your shoulders. Don't try and blame 'Metabolism', that's what you've been dealt, either change it or deal with it

if you haven't figured it out im a gym rat. I'm in there maybe 2 or 3 days a week for 30 minutes, that's it. i don't eat right at all, i drink 2-4 soda's a day. I just turn the access weight into incentive to move heavy shit. It was a slow proces started out weighing around your weight but i was only 16 and imagining the bar was my stomach like "your not welcome here!". after a year i was down to 190, mostly muscle so yeah. fuck a diet get a bench press.

Really sucks to be overweigh because it is a hard thing to deal with and I promised myself I would never let myself go back to being fat again. I only eat tops 2 meals a day and I only get like baby servings because my stomach can handle a little bit of food. I'm still healthy though! Traumatized much? lol Good luck on the diet! =)

Hate to say it, but the last thing I want is 100 shitbags telling me Im a fat ass every time I post a Vlog about losing weight... Youtube isnt the venue. But great Idea, I think it would be really helpfull to keep people motivated.

i currently weigh 89.8kg or 198lb but im 6foot 2 which according to wolfram alpha (awesome search engine) im 7.6kg(16.9lb) overweight so i think i'll join in too... i currently do 0 excersize so i'll double it as a start. XD

Most of losing weight would come from eating less I think. Obviously I don't mean giving up eating all together like some ppl do haha. But just having smaller meals than usual could make it easier to lose more weight. Not eating a crap load of extra snacks like crackers, ice cream, cookies, candy, etc. Or no okay maybe just for Halloween haha.

Yeah I know the deal here.. I did not actually gain any weight this year but spent so much time watching Phil videos that about 5kgs transferred from my muscular limbs to my stomach. Chris Farleyisation set in.
So yeah.. time to start jogging a bit and maybe some ab work too heh.

Replace all your sugary drinks with water and lemon. (Occasional coffee/beer is cool, but they're calories too). Don't snack unless it's fruit/veggies, and up the workouts!

pick up boxing, one of the hardest and most rewarding workouts around. you'll feel like a newborn man after a couple of these and you'll be in shape in no time. just remember no pain no gain there is no cutting corners in getting in shape
