I thought "roped" meant that it had cables as well. I DID see an elevator that was hydraulic but also had cables and a counterweight.

"roped does mean "cables".on an Otis lvme "roped hydraulic" the cables attach at the bottom of cylinder stand and go around piston or jack via sheave and attach to elevator safety hitch.Its a 1:2 ratio, every foot of travel of piston,elevator goes 2ft.

Interesting; however beware that this elevator has 3rd party fixtures. Next time I'm there, I'll look at the certificate and see exactly. Look at CaptainElevator's UT Austin videos - elevators from many different manufactures that look identical, and actually have the same sounds and directional indicators as this elevator.
