i need help! i made the trap.. i trapped something while i was out for dinner last night, i came home to the trap closed, and the trap door ajar and chips and scratched like crazy.... the groundhog which looks to be about 10lbs, somehow escaped. unless it was a squirrel or something, but i doubt it.
my question is.. now that the groundhog was trapped and escaped.. is he stupid enough to go back in it again, now that i reworked the trap door and reinforced everything....
not bad. I made a similar trap, but with a different trigger mechanism. I found for coons, you need to add a locking feature or they can just lift open the door and escape. I'll take a video of mine and upload it. It's pretty beaten up now, if you don't empty it within a day, a woodchuck or coon will work its way right through that wood.

Yeah, you are absolutely right! I built a bigger one for racoons and they escaped... I need to figure a lock.
