His Filipino side IS his Latin roots. You can't generalize, but depending on where you're from in the Philippines and your family history, people still identify with Latin culture. Other Filipinos don't.

The spanish aren't really latins, his blood is mixed with the north africans, germanics and the north is celt and basque.

Por el idioma no son latinos, son "romanicos" porque son lenguas romanicas. Latino es un termino "racial" ysolo es latino aquel que lleva esa sangre. Por ejemplo los argentinos(como tu) muchos si lo son por la gran ascendencia italiana, pero por ejemplo un negro cubano(y no lo digo de forma despectiva) no es latino, es negro y a mucha honra. Lo que ocurre es que se toman los significados de las palabras muy a la ligera.

Truthfully, we Filipinos can't be categorized. There's no culture that is similar to ours. The best way to describe Filipinos may be to say that we are mestizos of East and West. When Joe uses the term mestizo he is talking about the mixing of races. I really do not see the connotation of the word being labeled as racist. If he were pure that is his reality and as long as he does not put down the mestisos, like he does not put down the pure people in this song calling this song as racist is ludicrous to say the least.

His Filipino side IS his Latin roots. You can't generalize, but depending on where you're from in the Philippines and your family history, people still identify with Latin culture. Other Filipinos don't.
It's just hard to generalize about the Philippines at all.
And lilcenzo, those definitions of continents/islands/etc. were invented by Europeans and are pretty much irrelevant to the discussion.
