THANK YOU for not killing it! Self proclaimed snake experts kill so many snakes every year thinking that they're all poisonous. It obviously was in this case and it was so great that you didn't feel the need to get in it's face and kill it.

As much as I hate the damn things, I have to admit they play a vital role in removing serious vermin like rats. Personally though, I'd kill it if there was no other alternative and be sleeping easy that night. Since you guys were safe, you did the right thing.
