Damn it. Why weren't these in stores this October?! I had to go with the old school edge and now I am retrofitting the lights. Either way it's going to be badass. But it just pisses me off that it wasn't available when I needed it. They'll probably wait till Christmas or something to release it.

You gotta love when people say it is "pretty unanimous", what? did they do a telephone survey? Who are all these unified people who say the new edge is ugly?

Nonetheless, the new edge is awesome, imho. Perhaps it isn't for everyone, but neither was the old edge. My only grip is it should come with the fluval c2 filter system.

Looking good. Only just got a Fluval Edge and still finding out about it's strong and weak points but I love the design. This one looks neat too plus more water which means easier to maintain.

The new 6 gal reminds me of the Malibu Stacey episode on the Simpsons. Where they just added a hat and everyone wanted to buy it. This tells me that Hagen isn't really putting much of an effort in product design.

Now what the SHOULD of done was release the new 6 gal with the white (good idea) and increase the size by about 30%-35%.

I think it's pretty unanimous that the new 12 gal is aesthetically unappealing. In other words it's ugly. The only good thing I can see is that there will be better light spread at the base of the tank. They should of made it a long tank.

@crystalmethshrimp I agree. They should have made a 10 or 12 gallon Fluval Edge with way more powerful lighting and a sensor so that when it gets dark enough it will automatically switch to nightime moonlight blue leds. Now that would be dope.

Will I have the option of halogen lights I like the natural sunlight look, led lighting looks unreal. Maybe make it halogen for the morning time look then led for night time.

Please come out with this soon! Just let me know if this 12 gallon even better if its 15 gallon and the base in pewter color will be released. Can you make them horizontal too, I dont like tall based aquariums, plus with tall aquariums you cant get much bottom space for decorating

@TooleralusAEnima Exactly. Wth were they thinking? The original Fluval Edge design was a great idea. They just need to make it bigger and have brighter lighting.

I was told that Hagen had now abandoned the idea of releasing the 12 gallon and new 6 gallon in the US. Is that true? I am deciding whether to wait for these or buy a different tank so I would love to know if they are to be released for sure.

What type of led lighting are we talking about? Can you give more specs on the lighting? Would they both support reef tanks?

There have been a couple questions about an upgrade kit for the original Edge tanks. As of now there is no plan for that but that doesn't mean it won't happen in the future.

@dstruong86 Yes. That would be a novel idea as the original edge is very poorly lit. Would have been nice if they did something about that.
