haha well thanks, but one more question - I read somewhere that the pictures taken with this camera can't be photoshoped, is that true? what about other programs?
It varies on the type of battery. If you get the longer lasting smart battery, it tells you how long until it needs to be charged. The long lasting battery lasts around 220 minutes or so.
That's the lens hood, it helps to prevent the suns rays from reflecting the lens at an angle and causing lens glare in the pictures. It does come with the camera.
uhm what is the major difference between this cybershot camera vs the dslr models. for example if i compare it with the a330? sorry about this question im just thinking of buying a good camera and if theres a major difference if i should just get one like yours or if i should get the sony dslr a330. thanks.
DSLRs are much higher end cameras. If you want amazing quality, get a DSLR. I recently got a Canon EOS 20D, and it takes AMAZING picture for a 2005 camera. Though the image quality is all in the lens.
so u mean i should just invest on the lens instead... im really thinking wether to be a sony a330 or an a300 is there a major difference with the quality of pictures between both cameras?
oh ok.. thank you for that. so its more of question about the lens when u get a dslr. are the lenses used in dslr sort generic or does the company produce for their own brands to be used exclusivley for their products. or can any brand of dslr pretty much use any type of lens intended for a dslr?
oh contrails that last 1 to 2 hour in the sky, and not scientific proof because they dont want it . but ok i wont coment here no more . and i like you pic it has inspire me to do the same . i got the older version h10
Not very good, and this doesn't have HD video recording.
You should check out the Canon PowerShot SX1 IS, It's an amazing camera, and unlike the HX1, the SX1 can shoot in RAW mode. The SX1 has 4fps, but that's still fast enough to capture Skateboarding. Another difference between them, even though they both can record in 1080p, the HX1 isn't full 1080p like the SX1. HX1's HD resolution is only 1440x1080 while the SX1 is 1920x1080.
If you want something for just making videos, I suggest a camcorder. Look in my videos for a video titled: "Snowmobile Ice Racing - Willow River, MN - Jan. 17th, 2009"
I filmed that with this camera. It will have music in it.
Sony Webbie CM1, ack... Well for one, it does have "ok" video quality, but not the best. Not to mention it has noticeable rolling shutter (wiggly video). If you want a good and small HD camcorder for a fairly cheap price, I suggest the Aiptek Action-HD GVS at $220.
Well, it depends on the distance of the object. Basically, the only way you could get a picture like that is macro, or use manual focus. You're probably thinking of Macro mode.
i've been trying to figure that one out too, but i believe after a lot of reading, it needs to be in the portrait mode, (the one with the two bodies) and then use the macro setting :) because when you put it in portrait mode, it already makes the background blurry and focuses on the single subject and then the macro :) hope it helps, i just got my camera today and im so excited :)
Another great camera to look at is the Canon PowerShot SX10 IS. It's also $400. Unlike the H50, the SX10 has 20x optical zoom, and separate Left and Right stereo microphones for video recording.
The camera is not bad but not very good. If U really made the pictures in the video I would suggest to buy a DSLR because U got an eye for photography. U are talented from what I saw in some of the pictures.
The H50 is like a newer version of the H10. I've tried the H10 before, and it was horrible compared to this one. Get the H50, trust me, it's much better.
It does have a comfortable feeling when in your hands, that's one thing nice about it.
Nope, I don't have a conversion lens. If you press the Home button on the H50, go to the settings and there should be a setting for conversion lenses, either Wide or Tele, choose the Tele and the lens will zoom out to a certain point. :)
If you get one of those conversion lenses, please let me know. and if you can, make a video if you want to, because there aren't any with them on here.
hey, i just might have my friend do that instead because i'll be giving him the camera. i've had a change of heart and i'll be going after the cybershot dsc-hx1 which is coming out next month...
You should check out the new Canon Powershot SX1 IS that's also coming out next month. I plan to get the SX1 when it comes out. That HX1 is almost like a replica of the SX1.
I'm guessing Sony saw the SX1 and decided to try and make something similar. I mean, the names are so close to being the same, they even both have the same features, except that the HX1 is 10fps and the SX1 is 4fps, and the screens are different.
Plus Canon is known for their amazing image quality, best in the industry.
im leaning toward the hx1 simply because of the price, the mpeg-4 format, and the fact that i've gotten quite fond of the controls of the dsc-h50 that a transition to the upgrade will be no problem.
Why dont we have a youtube "battle"? post your sx1 stuff and i'll post the hx1 material when we get our cameras so we can see the difference ourselves...
The SX1 uses the MOV format for videos. Also I noticed that the HX1's 1080p is at the 1440x1080 resolution, while the SX1's video resolution is 1920x1080.
Last but not least, the SX1 has the ability to capture RAW images, while the HX1 doesn't.
It depends on what you want in a camera. The D40 is a Digital SLR, but is only 6.1MP. I'm not big into Nikon. I like Canon more because they have been proven to have better image quality than anyone else out there. This camera would most likely be better than the Coolpix P80, but not better than the D40. I haven't tried them so I couldn't tell you for sure. A plus side to the H50 though is that it has Nightshot.
I really couldn't tell you that, being I never used that Nikon before. It might, being the H50 came out in May 2008, and the Coolpix P80 came out before it.
This is indeed a great camera. I know Canon has a Digital SLR, the Digital Rebel XS, for only $200 more than this was, and comes with a 18-55mm lens. It would be a better buy if you're big into Photography. :)
Thank you very much you are very kind but I have found two albums from the Yoshida Brothers, which also include the song you used. I am grateful for your advice, though I am not really ready for a DSLR, that is why I would like to have a go at the H50, so that the transition from my Sony DSC-W120 to something better and more complex would be easier. I also like to make movies on different themes using the photos I take. Maybe I will upload some of them, so you can check them out. :)
Awesome video...awesome camera...you are really good at both taking pictures and combining them in cool movies...love the music...I am already looking for the song..I would like to buy a Sony DSC-H50..I have a Sony camera..a DSC-W120..it is really good for its class..but I would like something even better.
If you want I can send you the song though e-mail. Just note me your e-mail on here and I'll send it. :)
Thank you very much, I'm glad you enjoyed the video! I like Canon better, they have better optics, but I wanted to try something new, so I did. You could buy this camera for $400, you just save up $600 and buy the Canon EOS Digital Rebel XS, it's a DSLR and it comes with a 18mm-55mm lens. And it takes SD and SDHC memory cards too. I had to buy a new card when I got the H50.
Yes, you can. There's 2 modes of Manual Focus. One is where you manual focus, then then you press the shutter button down halfway it auto-focuses for even clearer focusing. Then there's regular manual focusing. :)
You have the image size set to VGA? If so, I can understand why the quality isn't that good... that mode is made for e-mail attachments. If you want full quality have it set to 9M (9 megapixels). As for the zoom, I don't remember what I had, I believe it was zoomed all the way at 15x.
I use the Program Auto mode (indicated as P on the dial) usually.
I have a Mac so I usually use the program called "Preview" to edit the photos on computer. I just turn up the saturation a little and sharpen the image, that's pretty much it. Unless I need to add typing, then I use Photoshop CS for that.
My current pictures I enabled the "Warm" colour filter (these pictures don't), it's helpful in the Autumn to keep the colours vivid, but I like the overall look no matter what time of the year.
Make sure to have a Tripod when using that low of shutter speed though. Plus, at slow shutter speed this camera has awesome noise reduction. If you have a tripod and are in a low light area where movement isn't an issue, try ISO at 80, it's so clear and there's practically no noise at all!
Yes I do, I was just wondering because if you hadn't that would be one AMAZING camera. Very good pictures by the way. Are you a professional or just interested. I'm in college studying to become a professional.
Just interested, in a year or so I'm going to try and take college courses for Photography. Sadly lack of money prevents me from getting a Pro camera. I'm looking into the Canon EOS 50D, I heard it's a very good camera.
I meant to say I want to go half with my parents with the EOS 5D markII and I was looking to buy this camera for my girlfriend that is how I stumbled upon your video.
well, is not exactly what i mean...but in that mode, "S" can you decide how much time you want? As an example suppose that you want to define 1 hour of exposure to light or 2, 3, or 4 hours. Can you do that? I ask you because the most para of the digital cameras not profetional dont have the option of you could decide the exposure time, they just have the option of define a limited time of exposure to light, normaly a few seconds
Oh you mean Shutter Speed Priority? Where you can adjust the shutter speed of the camera? if so, then yes, it does. Indicated on the mode dial as an S.
Sports mode, also forces flash off, and used fast shutter speed, so with low light you are going to struggle
.
Program mode will work with flash on SL mode. Also it will allow you to control the White balance and flash power. The camera will do the rest (shutter and apature) the allowance of flash will help freeze motion
I use Program Auto (P) more than any other mode. It's just like manual, except not as many things you have to goof around with, it's simple, yet you have most of the features the manual mode has.
great camera ...I have it too and I think is the best at this price. Can you give me an advice to tell me what are the best settings for shooting in the club in low light with flash. I tri using flash SL so with EV -2.0 flash level +0.3 and ISO 200. I want the images to be as most clear as possible and to catch movements so this are the best settings so far. :D Maybe you can help me with something Thanks.
I would think maybe the advanced sport shooting more would be good in that situation, with the movement and all. Downside is, no flash... It's hard to say being I've never been to a club before.
Maybe give Shutter Speed Priority mode a try? It's the S on the mode dial.
Is this good for Filming? hows the quality?

so would u say that this is better than sony t700?
utyygujgy 3 years ago
Most likely, yes. The H50 is considered a "semi-pro" camera.
Zeezy 3 years ago
yes i now,but with 15x you can obtain a beutiful moon
andreicos76 3 years ago 2
how much zoom? i shoot in vga mode but the quality is not very good.
andreicos76 3 years ago
You have the image size set to VGA? If so, I can understand why the quality isn't that good... that mode is made for e-mail attachments. If you want full quality have it set to 9M (9 megapixels). As for the zoom, I don't remember what I had, I believe it was zoomed all the way at 15x.

hello
how much x use to shoot the moon?

Huh?

in your editing what did you all do if i may ask, and which modes did you use, and settings??
tmaq97 3 years ago
I use the Program Auto mode (indicated as P on the dial) usually.
I have a Mac so I usually use the program called "Preview" to edit the photos on computer. I just turn up the saturation a little and sharpen the image, that's pretty much it. Unless I need to add typing, then I use Photoshop CS for that.
My current pictures I enabled the "Warm" colour filter (these pictures don't), it's helpful in the Autumn to keep the colours vivid, but I like the overall look no matter what time of the year.

ok thank you

Make sure to have a Tripod when using that low of shutter speed though. Plus, at slow shutter speed this camera has awesome noise reduction. If you have a tripod and are in a low light area where movement isn't an issue, try ISO at 80, it's so clear and there's practically no noise at all!
Zeezy 3 years ago
Did you edit the photos at all because they looked like you saturated them...
imsowazup 3 years ago
Yes I did. You'll find that a lot professional photographers do that as well.
Zeezy 3 years ago
Yes I do, I was just wondering because if you hadn't that would be one AMAZING camera. Very good pictures by the way. Are you a professional or just interested. I'm in college studying to become a professional.
imsowazup 3 years ago 2
Ah ok.
Thanks. :)
Just interested, in a year or so I'm going to try and take college courses for Photography. Sadly lack of money prevents me from getting a Pro camera. I'm looking into the Canon EOS 50D, I heard it's a very good camera.

Same here I have no money but christmas is coming up and I'm hoping my parents will go half with me for the Canon EOS 5D
imsowazup 3 years ago 3
I meant to say I want to go half with my parents with the EOS 5D markII and I was looking to buy this camera for my girlfriend that is how I stumbled upon your video.

Ah ok.
This camera would be a great present for her. :)

well, is not exactly what i mean...but in that mode, "S" can you decide how much time you want? As an example suppose that you want to define 1 hour of exposure to light or 2, 3, or 4 hours. Can you do that? I ask you because the most para of the digital cameras not profetional dont have the option of you could decide the exposure time, they just have the option of define a limited time of exposure to light, normaly a few seconds
jhsmanderson 3 years ago
In this camera the S mode allows you to delay the shutter from closing for up to 30 seconds. Which is a long time.
Zeezy 3 years ago
with T mode i mean if you can decide the exposure time of the camera, or the camera has a limited time to exposure?
jhsmanderson 3 years ago
Oh you mean Shutter Speed Priority? Where you can adjust the shutter speed of the camera? if so, then yes, it does. Indicated on the mode dial as an S.
Zeezy 3 years ago
i just bought this camera yesterday but in internet so i have to wait some days, do you know if this camera has the T mode?
jhsmanderson 3 years ago
T mode? What do you mean? I've never heard of that mode before.
Zeezy 3 years ago
Sports mode, also forces flash off, and used fast shutter speed, so with low light you are going to struggle
.
Program mode will work with flash on SL mode. Also it will allow you to control the White balance and flash power. The camera will do the rest (shutter and apature) the allowance of flash will help freeze motion
RB306TDTUBE 3 years ago
Exactly.
Zeezy 3 years ago
Oh...and I use the program A from the weel. And sometimes I think is the best to use Twilight portrait from SCN program.
ForForce 3 years ago
I use Program Auto (P) more than any other mode. It's just like manual, except not as many things you have to goof around with, it's simple, yet you have most of the features the manual mode has.

great camera ...I have it too and I think is the best at this price. Can you give me an advice to tell me what are the best settings for shooting in the club in low light with flash. I tri using flash SL so with EV -2.0 flash level +0.3 and ISO 200. I want the images to be as most clear as possible and to catch movements so this are the best settings so far. :D Maybe you can help me with something Thanks.
ForForce 3 years ago 3
I would think maybe the advanced sport shooting more would be good in that situation, with the movement and all. Downside is, no flash... It's hard to say being I've never been to a club before.
Maybe give Shutter Speed Priority mode a try? It's the S on the mode dial.
