Posiblemente...

Necesitasen descargar combustible para bajar asta el peso maximo de aterrizaje, que es inferior al peso maximo al despegue.

Si despegaron con el peso maximo, llenos de equipajes y combustible, aun en ausencia de emergencia, no podrian aterrizar si no queman algo de combustible, rebajando el peso asta el maximo peso para el aterrizaje.

Maybe... they needed to dump fuel, to lower the Gross Weight of the aircraft to Maximun Landing Weight, wich is below the Maximun TakeOff Weight.

If the take off on Maximun Take Off Weight, Full of cargo and FUEL, they can't land, even on no emergency, before they burn some fuel loosing weight until the maximun landing weight

@XxNasser99xX OK, but where does the fuel being dumped go? You know there is people down there that can have that jet-fuel raining and that is flammable so I don't think 100% that that was fuel being dumped. Think about it, people down in surface and raining fuel...it's flammable.

@luisechevarria99401 Si un día de estos lo vuelvo instalar estoy mas por el fs2004 y fs 2002 pero un dia de estos lo vuelvo a instalar el fsx y echamos un vuelo en grupo los 2 dalo por echo, te aviso desde ahora que casi siempre estoy con un il-96-300 para mi de los mejores aviones heavy del mundo, los aviones rusos son mi perdición, aparte de los americanos boeing saludos.

@luisechevarria99401 bueno si intentas un viaje largo con un 737 no seria lo apropiado sabiendo que el -800 tiene una autonomía de algo mas de 5000km ja ja salvo que sea el -700 er que permite mas de 9600km,ami para viajes largos el il-96-300 sin dudarlo avión fiable y duradero, motores rusos como no los mas duraderos jeje para viajes cortos o medianos antes usaba un tu-154 m el sustituto, son bastantes airbus 318 a 321 aunque el que mas horas le echo es al gran 722(727-200) saludos.

Aparte de que se evapora.... ay lugar destinados a la expulsion de Fuel.... un avion, y mas el a340, puede volar con un motor INOP..

@peke915 por poder puede volar con un motor in-operativo si es totalmente necesario normalmente cuando se es a mitad de ruta por ejemplo pero si acaba de salir hace poco vuelven al lugar de origen, en este caso Barajas-Madrid para o efectuar la operación de reparación, o lo mas posible traspasar pasajeros y carga a otro aparato si esta disponible en este caso un a-340 sea 343 o 346 saludos.

indeed,nothing dramatic, just a bit unusual. Big fuzz back in MAD as all Iberia staff was gone, many conexions lost (including mine), over 3 hour delay for a/C change.

Some pax were very anxious though, specially the guy next to me who couldn't believe I was filming... and the flight attendant that said out loud: "this is the first time I see the a/c doing this"...

I'm not a know-it-all.

I don't question the bad feelings of the one who filmed that scene, in fact I can certainly assume that someone may find that terrifying shouldn't he understand what's happening.

So take my comment as an attempt to calm others down: should there EVER be a situation with a white smokish stuff streaming out of a small black piece of metal at the back of the wing: nothing serious, just a fuel dump!
