  • I recently started work as a temporary non-union "casual" mail handler for the USPS. It's easily the most miserable and demanding job that anyone could ever work. And surprisingly, it's only slightly better for the union workers. 95% of them work hard, but are treated horribly by management, so it's no wonder that so many of them come off as miserable to the unsuspecting public. For those of you who think that working for the USPS is a nice cushy job, nothing could be further from the truth.

  • Keep the post office rocking and rolling!

  • post office needs to go private. Those bastard union workers START at $18/hr.

And i heard some guy on the news say that the mailman got into an argument with him and then various bills would be returned to sender or just dissapear completely. He complained but the post master told him to "live with it"

And have you seen how SLOW they work at the post office? Why are they always fat and slow?

  • Horse crap! Privatize and it won't be $0.44 cents to mail a letter you can count on around $5. Those "union bastards" have hepled build the America you know. Show a little respect.

  • @char3795 UPS is teamsters if I'm not mistaken

  • @Continental3407 FUCK yOU!!

  • i think the post office is great in delivering boxes. fed ex is expensive and ups is too far away to drive to. The rate to ship a small box via fed x was 53 dollars the post office did the same time for 16 dollars.

  • Well theres more people out of work. The regular carriers will still do their five days but the substitute carriers will be put out of work. Unemployment increases more costing taxpayers more and the stockmarket drops more.

  • @wescarpenter1 T-6's will end up doing routes that are open due to AL and eventually bid on one. TE's .They are the same as casuals use to be except they're paid better. The T in TE stands for TEMPORARY ! They knew that going in .

  • @DrHogfan The "T" does not stand for temporary... it stands for TRANSITIONAL, i should know... I am a "TE"

  • @clintnjayme I stand corrected. T does stand for Transitional. But when you were hired did they tell you this job would be a career job. You didn't have to take the Postal exam and get on a waiting list w/ thousands of other candidates. The TE's I work w/ are hard working and I'd hate for them to have to lose their jobs but they all know thats a possibility.

  • Good now the junk mail will decrease. The postal employees around Houston are so rude so I use Fedex for everything. At Fedex they train there employees to be nice. Maybe a two day work week would be better for the post office.

  • DO IT!! Great! -- finally there is some sanity. If you are losing money, you'd better cut expenses somewhere. No bailout -- great! Smart!

Everyone else -- people, businesses, the goverment -- should take this as an example of common sense. We're all cutting out expenses in order to pay the bills -- we need to deal with it.

Who ever thought a bureaucratic government agency like the P.O. could be this sensible?

Really -- would we even miss that one day of mail? I don't think so.
