Most of you are thinking the Prelude is slow because of the 151WHP thing. Youre taking it as the Prelude has 151crank HP and the Porsche has 220 crank HP.
Porsche 944t/951 has around 220hp and Prelude has 190hp STOCK. So it's not a big HP difference considering you're comparing a FWD n/t vs a RWD turbo. Put in other factors like driving experience ETC and the race makes sense. I've had that car since I was 15 (sold now) and it has been in my family since I was 10. I got good experience with i
At least he's smart enough to know the difference between Porsche brakes and shitty toy Honda brakes. I drive a NA and I can haul to a stop from 70 mph 6 or 7 times back to back just to get them warmed up to temp, and they cool right back down. The turbo's brakes are even bigger. Honda brakes make me laugh every time I see them, especially when 18" wheels make them look even smaller. The Porsche was bred from real race cars, where the Honda was not. Just saying...
I own a 83 944 na bone stock and I would smoke this prelude dude. Thats a fake video because a 944 turbo has around 220 hp vs. 150 whp? wow what the fuck? is he like hitting 2000 rpms and shifting or something? or has the e brake on the whole time?

ALRIGHT GUYS you caught us the Prelude is cammed and tuned as you can see by the VAFC and it also had a D/R on it if you look very closely in some of the pictures you can see it the front tire is a lot wider than the rear. NOW SHUTUP ALREADY!
Yes a Porsche 944 turbo/951 will beat a stock h22 prelude!!
UGH I own an '84 N/A 944 and all I can say is this retard doesn't know how to drive at all. Learning to shift a 944 isn't easy, I admit, but this fucking moron is just plain incompetent.
Give me that ride with that horsepower and I'll own a Prelude.
@importsnrice I know the earlier 944T/951 had only 220HP, but it's still lighter than the 'Lude. I understand now that the Prelude was cammed, but I still say that wasn't a realistic race; the dumbass kid in the Porsche doesn't know what the fuck he's doing, that much is obvious.
@ZakTheRipper18 I own an 84 NA, no fucking way do I shift like that. God I hate idiots, I'm 17 and I've been driving stick for a month, 944 require a perfect shift but jesus christ come on
@petrachi94 i have a 84 as well and i dare a fuckin prelude try some shit like this on me the kid is just a rookie who wants to show before he learns...
this video makes no sense...i had an '86 951 with chip and lindsey boost enhancer and had no problem absolutely raping a C5 corvette off the line up until about 90 MPH, where it's horsepower advantage finally showed itself. this dinky prelude should have been fodder for the porsche's rear view mirror.
@hwhhww i own a 4th generation lude h22a, aem intake, performance headers, and apexi exhaust and i really doubt it would stand with a turbo 944 i love the lude but this video just doesn't seem right
hahahahahahaahah hfuck that with my 951 i killed a mustangs and corvette and the top speed in any 944 turbo or 951 is 250 km /h and ur honda was going 165km maybe so go kill ur self or come to me i ll show u the real turbo
lol, whoever was driving the porsche has no idea how to drive a turbocharged car let alone shift it. I just test drove a 944 turbo with exhaust, and chip. And i managed to get a good full second chirp out of 2nd gear and a chirp going into 3rd.
@hwhhww hahaha he totaled it i take it? no wonder he couldn't beat a prelude... can't even control a porsche... mine's a base 944 and it handles like a beast i can't imagine a turbo with beefed up suspension, TURBO, 80 more hp, on and on. getting smoked by a VTEC honda... three letters. LOL
The 951 3.0 turbo's that you guys see are set up by people who know these cars or Porsche tuners. I think if you have a nice setup 3.0 turbo it will put to about 400RWHP at ~ 1 bar.
Well it always depends on the tune, Exhaust leaks between headers and turbo, Even a clogged cat can make the difference. Either this car it's not running right or like Bhargav1 said this guy is nicely moddedand on a Diet. Despite that I believe that 951 needs to be looked by a Porsche mechanic. I see some rennlisters here and yes they know how these cars can be tuned to put some serious power.
There's no 3.0 turbo from factory on the 951. The 968 TurboS had that engine(Limited number).
Im with you on that one, I believe this 951 needs to be looked at. I have an exhaust leak right of my 951's header and it feels like I lost a few ponies... I have some plans to make my 951 a beast. Ill have to join Rennlist to get tips.
The reason your brakes were burning is cuz you were riding them down from 110+. Instead of coasting in gear you just put it in neutral and burned your brakes...not smart. Combining engine and brakes to slow down a car from that speed is the best way to do it.
the 944 had a much needed tune up recently and an oil change. the driver of the 944 launched higher than before and beat the prelude about 2 weeks ago
I'm the Prelude driver and it dyno'd 151WHP on a dyno dynamics which is the lowest of the low reading dynos! And thatwas with a bad o2 sensor as stated above.
The car has no weight reduction except for the trunk being gutted and some POS ebay fenders that I got with the car. Stock wheels and everything!
This race and my strip runs were all done on a messed up axle (car shakes from 40-60) and my car ran a 15 flat with a 2.2 60' (ya I know I can launch real good!! :p) It's easily a 14.8 sec car, just gotta get the axle fixed.
Porsche is stock and was a pretty even race, we both are approximately high 14 second cars. To prove your ignorant asses wrong, my friend (Bargo or Bhargav) is going to the strip in a couple of days and we'll both post our timeslips up!
The only one you would probably know is preludepower. Ya Dyno Dynamics are the lowest reading dynos. I bet your car would be in the 180whp range on a dynojet. You should really get it tuned. You gain a decent amount up top, but the real big gains are in the mid range. I gained 10whp up top, and over 30whp between 4-5k n/a.
Don't use that. You will see no real gains. Also don't even bother adjusting your vtec. If you drop it you will lose power there as well if you didn't already know. I would recommend just going the crome route. This way you will actually see gains on a dyno, and you get the full results with the bolt ons.
Dang, I was just down there too. If you guys want to cruise when Im down next that would be bad ass! Its nice seeing a quick Prelude. You have a turbo kit and you havnt put it on yet? Get it on there! IT WILL HAUL!!!
Sweet, Im curious as to what times you two will put up. Tell your friend with the 951 to launch around 4000rpm. Its the bread and butter spot. I got a 13.9 in mine when it was stock.
The prelude, with the mods it has stated in the video, ran close to the same time.. Same 60 ft (2.2 sec) but ended up running 15's flat for the 1/4. And this was when he had a damaged axle, which has already been repaired. so without the driveline drag, i'm sure it can hit 14's for sure, but most def. not 13's
3,042lbs! In this generation the weight is in the 2,840 range. HP isn't the only factor in making a car fast, which I am sure you know. Power band, engine response, engine revs, gearing etc is what will add to making a car fast. Trust I know fwd sucks vs rwd. I am not blind on that part. The 944's were trapping in the 90-94mph range, which is about the same as a stock 4th gen prelude with the h22. This prelude has bolt ons, which adds to it. It's not like it's impossible right.
Also if the 951 is a 1986 it's only 220hp at the crank so maybe 185whp. They also weigh over 3000lbs. That Honda is clearly stripped. Wonder what it weighs? Let alone mention the skill differences of both drivers. The Honda guy is clearly a better and more aggressive launcher at the very least.
Yeah he launches a lot better than me... I'm always afraid of messing up my cars clutch or something so I just take it easy. My car's also open differential no LSD.
I forgot to mention this, do not race from the dig, these trannys are a pain to change and are very expensive. If anything you should be doing 50 rolls or 60 rolls, its the bread and butter friend. Once you get good at brake boosting you will be set.
LOL! chill out guys that prelude doesnt have 151 hp... its got probably close to 200 at the wheels... that was what he dynoed on a low reading dno... when he had a broken o2 sensor and didnt have all his mods done to it....
The 944 Driver is right. The Preludes last dyno was rated at 151 HP to the wheels but running very rich due to a bad o2 sensor. This race took place about 2 weeks after the sensor was replaced.
You should buy a lindsey racing boost enhancer, lindsey racing wastegate shims and a autothority stage 2 chip set. What did you end up running in the quarter?
lol, they were 14 and 15 second cars stock. OH my so fast, and clearly not beatable. HAHAHA. You talk as though they are fast cars. They might have been for their time, but times have changed. Oh and s2000's are not quick by any means either.
I find it funny that no mention of weight reduction was made in reference to the honda. Obviously that has been performed and is a large factor in acceleration. I'll gladly put you up against my 951 tho. Tell me when and where anytime and we'll go for slips ;-)
1.6L pushing 16psi and only making 200hp. Something isn't right there lol. Hell a stock 1.6 sohc civic with a properly sized turbo will make over 280whp at 16psi. 200-220whp 1,900 pound civic at the track on a good tire will honestly run mid 12's at the very least. You are a full of it. Stock 944 is lucky to make a low 14 second pass at the track haha.
Well your a Honda guy right? My friend Griffis gets a 12.7s 1/4 mile in a 1,900lb Civic non VTECH pushing about 200whp while using a methonal injection set up. I thought 16lbs of boost would get him more horse power but then I remembered that power comes with displacement, especially on forced induction cars. His 16lbs was a hair under 200hp, Im sure he lowered his compression to take the boost.
944 Turbos with 16 lbs push 305 whp and 345 ft lbs of torque. With 8.0:1 compression.
The non vtec part is robbing him, and he is probably running a smaller turbo. Just this past week a friend dynoed on a SOHC 1.6 vtec with a small turbo setup making 220whp at 9psi. Another in the spring running a 1.6L sohc vtec CRX at 13psi made 268whp. That car ran 11.78 at 118mph on a 22" slick. Power vs psi on all hondas vary based on turbo size, and what you do with the car. Like a drag car, larger turbo. Circuit car something a little smaller.
this video is video is almost funny. I own a stock 944 turbo and that 151 hp prelude couldnt touch it. If it is real that prelude either has a pump or nos. because ive kept up with 355 hp gto's in my 951. And a stock prelude is a joke compared to the 944 turbo
Well then you raced against some slow honda setups. A gsr swapped civic runs high 13's, and an h22 civic runs mid 13's all motor. A stock k-series in one runs even faster. S2000's are slow, and racing stock civics isn't impressive lol. I had no problem beating on those turbo 944's in my prelude when it was 178whp, no problem at all. Pretty sad how a 2.5-3.0L turbo 4 cylinder is that slow.
I never said they couldn't be fast. Anything can be made fast now a days. There are stock h22's making 220hp from honda. If you were local I would be up for the challenge. Right now in low boost 11.7psi at 366whp my car traps 116mph. Not fast by any means, but it's fun. Remember low boost lol. Have you actually taken your car to the track? Or are you a bench racer? To beat an ls2 GTO with an ebay chip, that's more bull crap then an I/H/E prelude beating a stock 944 lol. Seriously lol.
The 944 Turbo was a mere 217 fly wheel hp from factory.
Im from Michigan is that local enough?
11.7psi and I bet your compression is in the 10's or 11's, thats high boost. The 944 came with 11lbs of boost stock.
I actually go to Gingerman Raceway in South Haven Michigan or Grattan which is in Belding, it is a fun track to race at. I did the quarter mile a few times at US 31 (Richmond dragway). I stick to the track club racing because thats what the Porsche was built to do from factory.
Especially with its 50/50 weight distrubution. Also it was no ebay chip I bought, Autothority is a prestigous aftermarket carrier. I will post a video of my beating the 2006 LS2 GTO here within a few weeks.
I look forward to seeing the video. I am located a couple hours north of Toronto in ontario. I agree that track club racing is more suited for your car. I have nothing against porsches. They are well built cars, and you can beat the piss out of them all day and still drive home. A buddy mine has a dad with some coin, and they race a stock 2007 GT3 at Mosport here in ontario. Drive the car all day without worrying about a cool down. Such a fun car to drive.
Compression is 9:1. Stock bore, and 100% bone stock head. 11.7psi is low boost for this car. I went with a smaller exhaust housing for a quicker spool up. Running a 62-1 straight T4. This way I get a nice linear power band while still make lots of power and tq. A larger exhaust housing could have gotten me well over 400whp at the same psi, but would have been more laggy. 19psi is high boost on pump gas. Any higher then I would want to go with meth injection, or a race gas mix.
You know what? Its nice seeing somone that knows what they are talking about with a Civic, your the second "Tuner" that actually knows their stuff. I give you props.
I thought I had turbo lag with my 944 but I started hearing the turbo really loud. Dead give away, it turns out I have been beating people with a huge boost leak. Haha.
Boost leaks can be a pain if they are leaking from an awkward spot. Definatly rob you of power. I still have a lot to learn about boosted cars, but I understand a lot of it. I wish I had this knowledge when I first boosted my car. It would have saved me time and money, and would have more power right now. But I would have bought something RWD lol. That's why I went with the larger turbo. It make lots of power, but comes on smooth and linear, so my tires don't light up every gear.
I ended up finding it, it was a little clamp that was not screwed in. One rwd tuner car I love is the S2000, but they are pretty expensive. Those are rwd right?
That 87 is slow to bad it BONE STOCK...wats the song name

Don't use that. You will see no real gains. Also don't even bother adjusting your vtec. If you drop it you will lose power there as well if you didn't already know. I would recommend just going the crome route. This way you will actually see gains on a dyno, and you get the full results with the bolt ons.
LUDE4LIFE1 2 years ago
Dang, I was just down there too. If you guys want to cruise when Im down next that would be bad ass! Its nice seeing a quick Prelude. You have a turbo kit and you havnt put it on yet? Get it on there! IT WILL HAUL!!!
Piperporsche180944 2 years ago
Sweet, Im curious as to what times you two will put up. Tell your friend with the 951 to launch around 4000rpm. Its the bread and butter spot. I got a 13.9 in mine when it was stock.
Piperporsche180944 2 years ago
I can see that this race is deffinately a drivers race. Did you two end up going to the strip yet?
Piperporsche180944 2 years ago
Did you guys end up going to the strip yet? Scratch the last 1/4 mile time I gave you. My latest run is as follows
60ft = 2.2
330ft = 5.7
1/8th = 8.5 @ 88MPH
1,000ft = 11.0
1/4 = 13.09 @ 109.94MPH
Tell the kid with the 944 turbo to messege me so I can tell him how to get that time for cheap.
Piperporsche180944 2 years ago
The prelude, with the mods it has stated in the video, ran close to the same time.. Same 60 ft (2.2 sec) but ended up running 15's flat for the 1/4. And this was when he had a damaged axle, which has already been repaired. so without the driveline drag, i'm sure it can hit 14's for sure, but most def. not 13's
hwhhww 2 years ago
Thats not so bad, my 60ft time sucked because I couldnt launch to save my life that day. Do you know what the 951 got in the 1/4?
Piperporsche180944 2 years ago
Importsnrice, where are the time slips?
Piperporsche180944 2 years ago
LUDE4LIFE1 2 years ago
prelude's weight is approx. 2800 lbs but add another 160 to it since i was in the car filming..
hwhhww 2 years ago
What year model is the 951?
333pg333 2 years ago
Also if the 951 is a 1986 it's only 220hp at the crank so maybe 185whp. They also weigh over 3000lbs. That Honda is clearly stripped. Wonder what it weighs? Let alone mention the skill differences of both drivers. The Honda guy is clearly a better and more aggressive launcher at the very least.
333pg333 2 years ago
Yeah he launches a lot better than me... I'm always afraid of messing up my cars clutch or something so I just take it easy. My car's also open differential no LSD.
bhargav1 2 years ago
I forgot to mention this, do not race from the dig, these trannys are a pain to change and are very expensive. If anything you should be doing 50 rolls or 60 rolls, its the bread and butter friend. Once you get good at brake boosting you will be set.
Piperporsche180944 2 years ago
ofcourse the porsche is built better
OneHotPorsche944 2 years ago
LOL! chill out guys that prelude doesnt have 151 hp... its got probably close to 200 at the wheels... that was what he dynoed on a low reading dno... when he had a broken o2 sensor and didnt have all his mods done to it....
This is the owner or the 944 turbo by the way.
bhargav1 2 years ago
The 944 Driver is right. The Preludes last dyno was rated at 151 HP to the wheels but running very rich due to a bad o2 sensor. This race took place about 2 weeks after the sensor was replaced.
hwhhww 2 years ago
Is your 944 turbo bone stock and how many miles?
Piperporsche180944 2 years ago
90k miles I bought it last year in excellent condition, wasn't driven in the winter either.
bhargav1 2 years ago
You should buy a lindsey racing boost enhancer, lindsey racing wastegate shims and a autothority stage 2 chip set. What did you end up running in the quarter?
Piperporsche180944 2 years ago
stock my 944 turbo would beat that prelude in reverse... It came with 100 more hp and is nearly the same weight.
The kid in the turbo is obviously a shitty driver.. I was beating modified S2000's when I was totally stock!
underdog944 2 years ago
lol, they were 14 and 15 second cars stock. OH my so fast, and clearly not beatable. HAHAHA. You talk as though they are fast cars. They might have been for their time, but times have changed. Oh and s2000's are not quick by any means either.
LUDE4LIFE1 2 years ago
dude that 951 is not running right
swagger93 2 years ago
I find it funny that no mention of weight reduction was made in reference to the honda. Obviously that has been performed and is a large factor in acceleration. I'll gladly put you up against my 951 tho. Tell me when and where anytime and we'll go for slips ;-)
busabkickinbutt 2 years ago
yeah the honda has weight reduction done to it. 944 turbo owner
bhargav1 2 years ago
Wow, either the 944 Turbo has extreemly high miles and is beat to heck or something must be wrong with it.
When my 944 turbo was stock it hammered on a Civic 1.6L 4 cyl pushing 16lbs of boost and nearly 200hp in a lightened 1900lb car.
Something doesnt add up. Let me race you with my 951.
Piperporsche180944 2 years ago
1.6L pushing 16psi and only making 200hp. Something isn't right there lol. Hell a stock 1.6 sohc civic with a properly sized turbo will make over 280whp at 16psi. 200-220whp 1,900 pound civic at the track on a good tire will honestly run mid 12's at the very least. You are a full of it. Stock 944 is lucky to make a low 14 second pass at the track haha.
LUDE4LIFE1 2 years ago
Well your a Honda guy right? My friend Griffis gets a 12.7s 1/4 mile in a 1,900lb Civic non VTECH pushing about 200whp while using a methonal injection set up. I thought 16lbs of boost would get him more horse power but then I remembered that power comes with displacement, especially on forced induction cars. His 16lbs was a hair under 200hp, Im sure he lowered his compression to take the boost.
944 Turbos with 16 lbs push 305 whp and 345 ft lbs of torque. With 8.0:1 compression.
Piperporsche180944 2 years ago
The non vtec part is robbing him, and he is probably running a smaller turbo. Just this past week a friend dynoed on a SOHC 1.6 vtec with a small turbo setup making 220whp at 9psi. Another in the spring running a 1.6L sohc vtec CRX at 13psi made 268whp. That car ran 11.78 at 118mph on a 22" slick. Power vs psi on all hondas vary based on turbo size, and what you do with the car. Like a drag car, larger turbo. Circuit car something a little smaller.
LUDE4LIFE1 2 years ago
this video is video is almost funny. I own a stock 944 turbo and that 151 hp prelude couldnt touch it. If it is real that prelude either has a pump or nos. because ive kept up with 355 hp gto's in my 951. And a stock prelude is a joke compared to the 944 turbo
porschefanatic33 2 years ago 2
I thought it was funny too. When I chipped my 951 I beat my friends GTO with the LS2
Piperporsche180944 2 years ago
what kind of chip did u put in it ?
porschefanatic33 2 years ago
Autothority Stage 2 chip. Its expensive from there web store but you can find one on ebay for $100
Piperporsche180944 2 years ago
Driver error for sure.
LUDE4LIFE1 2 years ago 5
It better be. I have never lost to any VTECH before when my car was stock.
Piperporsche180944 2 years ago
Well then you raced against some slow honda setups. A gsr swapped civic runs high 13's, and an h22 civic runs mid 13's all motor. A stock k-series in one runs even faster. S2000's are slow, and racing stock civics isn't impressive lol. I had no problem beating on those turbo 944's in my prelude when it was 178whp, no problem at all. Pretty sad how a 2.5-3.0L turbo 4 cylinder is that slow.
LUDE4LIFE1 2 years ago
I want to race you with my "sadly slow 2.5L turbo", put $1,000 behind the words your saying.
I can tell you that a 13 second car will not beat me.
A stock 80's Porsche 944 turbo runs a 14s 1/4 mile from factory with a decent driver. What does a factory Civic get in the quarter? 20s?
BTW there is no turbo 3.0 in the 944 from factory, there is one in the 968 Turbo S and that car wouldnt waste his time on a lowly civic.
Piperporsche180944 2 years ago
I never said they couldn't be fast. Anything can be made fast now a days. There are stock h22's making 220hp from honda. If you were local I would be up for the challenge. Right now in low boost 11.7psi at 366whp my car traps 116mph. Not fast by any means, but it's fun. Remember low boost lol. Have you actually taken your car to the track? Or are you a bench racer? To beat an ls2 GTO with an ebay chip, that's more bull crap then an I/H/E prelude beating a stock 944 lol. Seriously lol.
LUDE4LIFE1 2 years ago
The 944 Turbo was a mere 217 fly wheel hp from factory.
Im from Michigan is that local enough?
11.7psi and I bet your compression is in the 10's or 11's, thats high boost. The 944 came with 11lbs of boost stock.
I actually go to Gingerman Raceway in South Haven Michigan or Grattan which is in Belding, it is a fun track to race at. I did the quarter mile a few times at US 31 (Richmond dragway). I stick to the track club racing because thats what the Porsche was built to do from factory.
Piperporsche180944 2 years ago
Especially with its 50/50 weight distrubution. Also it was no ebay chip I bought, Autothority is a prestigous aftermarket carrier. I will post a video of my beating the 2006 LS2 GTO here within a few weeks.
Piperporsche180944 2 years ago
I look forward to seeing the video. I am located a couple hours north of Toronto in ontario. I agree that track club racing is more suited for your car. I have nothing against porsches. They are well built cars, and you can beat the piss out of them all day and still drive home. A buddy mine has a dad with some coin, and they race a stock 2007 GT3 at Mosport here in ontario. Drive the car all day without worrying about a cool down. Such a fun car to drive.
LUDE4LIFE1 2 years ago
Compression is 9:1. Stock bore, and 100% bone stock head. 11.7psi is low boost for this car. I went with a smaller exhaust housing for a quicker spool up. Running a 62-1 straight T4. This way I get a nice linear power band while still make lots of power and tq. A larger exhaust housing could have gotten me well over 400whp at the same psi, but would have been more laggy. 19psi is high boost on pump gas. Any higher then I would want to go with meth injection, or a race gas mix.
LUDE4LIFE1 2 years ago
You know what? Its nice seeing somone that knows what they are talking about with a Civic, your the second "Tuner" that actually knows their stuff. I give you props.
I thought I had turbo lag with my 944 but I started hearing the turbo really loud. Dead give away, it turns out I have been beating people with a huge boost leak. Haha.
Piperporsche180944 2 years ago
Boost leaks can be a pain if they are leaking from an awkward spot. Definatly rob you of power. I still have a lot to learn about boosted cars, but I understand a lot of it. I wish I had this knowledge when I first boosted my car. It would have saved me time and money, and would have more power right now. But I would have bought something RWD lol. That's why I went with the larger turbo. It make lots of power, but comes on smooth and linear, so my tires don't light up every gear.
LUDE4LIFE1 2 years ago
I ended up finding it, it was a little clamp that was not screwed in. One rwd tuner car I love is the S2000, but they are pretty expensive. Those are rwd right?
Piperporsche180944 2 years ago
Watch starting at 2:08 and you see the results when the Honda doesn't jump.
toddk911 2 years ago
It's amazing what bottom end grunt the '44 will lack before turbo spool.. it's been beat to death, but 40/60 roll for sure
DarkGrey1 2 years ago
we did a 40 roll as the prelude driver stated below...prelude still beat it.
hwhhww 2 years ago
Show it.
I am sure the Honda jumped like he did on the other ones he "won". When the Honda waited for 3 honks the race was much different.
Also, if the Honda is making 151whp then is must weight less than 2000lbs. Bone stock 20+ year old 951 should be putting 190-200+whp.
So, with that you see that it should be a dead on race and not what you see when the Honda jumps the honks each time.
toddk911 2 years ago
it's a 944 and you show one part of the clip.
the prelude is mine and I'll gladly show you a 40-60 clip :) we were going to do it but we forgot lol
importsnrice 2 years ago
I want to race you, where are you guys from?
Piperporsche180944 2 years ago
951 is not made for off the line races. Although it does what it should at 2:15 once it is a legit race and he hears the "honks".
Try a 40/60 roll and post that. :)
