  • Who in the blue hell disliked this? What the eff did you expect from this video?

  • How about demoing it without the effects?

  • @figzor

Good ears. We started using a tube amp without effects around Episode 36. We now have 68 videos up. Thanks for watching

  • Isn't the weight of the guitar bothersome? I hear they weigh a little over 10 pounds.

  • @meateatingvegans

Sure they weigh in at about 10lbs. like a good heavy LP, but the sound of this style guitar is what you're going for when you strap one on. Thanks for watching.

  • Quality video. Sounds goods through effects. A sampling of what it sounds like clean would help too. Thanks.

  • @1Jn227

We're always learning. By the time we got to Episode 34 we started using a tube amp on clean. We were still using a solid state amp with chorus when we made this one. To answer your question on AL3000 vs LP, we find that no matter who makes the guitar that all guitars play and sound a little different, so we can't make a blanket statement that Agile is better than Gibson, and conversely we can't say every Gibson is better than an Agile. Hope you get a chance to play a lot of guitars.

  • How about a clean tone? You use more effects than the edge.

  • great review...nice guitar... on my wish list...

  • Hello, great videos! How does the Agile AL3000 compare to the Raven West RM300 in sound and feel? I've had an Agile before and did not like how the neck felt. But I'm considering a les paul model, and the choices thus far (for price range) include raven west, epiphone, and possibly Agile (might be worth another try).

  • @Leftypicker2012

If you tried an Agile AL2000 before, there is a big difference between the 2000 and the AL3000 series. The RWG RM300DX is also pretty nice. The 3000 and the RWG are fairly close. The neck of the RWG is more of a satin finish than the AL3000, but the details on the AL3000 are better. Happy hunting and thanks for watching.

  • I have a goldtop AL-3100 that I picked up as a B-stock (the gold was yellower than they wanted), and it is really impressive. The neck with ebony board is quite comfortable. The P90s are a bit noisy, but the tone is great. By FAR the best $200 guitar I could've found. Now that I've played it for about 2.5yrs, I would certainly recommend one even at the higher A-stock price.

  • Everything I've seen about these guitars are great, any downsides?

  • @WannabeProdigy1

Depending on your playing level, you may want to take yours to your luthier to dress the frets. I think you'd be happy. Thousands of us are.

  • I got rid of my Agile and I;ve been kicking my own ass ever since.

  • beautiful sound and guitar. I had a couple of telecasters from Rondo but they sucked, and I got rid of them. I found shipping was a lot from them too.

  • @MrPaladin1965

Thanks. There is a big difference between SX ( your teles) and the Agile line. Episode 28 we reviewed an Agile tele. You may want to check that one out. Thanks for watching.

  • What's the weight?

  • @rorbalzio

They are all a little different, but I'd say mine is about 9 lbs.

  • Comment removed

  • Hey can you review an SX Strat copy? or have you already done one?

BTW I loved your hilarious 'Fast Eddy's Music Shop' clip- very funny!! You should do more LOL

  • @edgroove7

Yes. Episode 19 shows a standard SX strat, and Episode 44 shows what you can do with one. Glad you liked my evil twin Fast Eddy. That vid was a college vid project my daughter created. Pass it around. Thanks for watching

  • I bought this guitar and its built so well and sounds like a gibson.

  • @buffdaddytoo

We agree. BTW we loved your video on effects. A great video for ordering your effects.

  • Man, I cant wait until I get my nat bird 3100. i might get the one thats being played in this video. Not sure yet. Whats the difference between 3000 and 3100? and what does Csbf mean? thanks!

  • @TheUrge25

Cherry sunburst Flame (maple) The 3100 has graphtech saddles and nut, and mother of pearl inlays instead of abalone.

  • i thought the image of the video was reversed since every guitar looked left-handed, but then i read his shirt and realized "yup, they're all left-handed guitars"

  • I loved what you played at 3:02 to demonstrate the clean tone for the pickups. What chords did you use?

  • @Krauser1226

I start with a quick Dsus4 then D, then take your second finger and play the F note on the D string, then a C9 chord and and a G chord. The second time through features the same chords, but the C and G arte played at the 8th fret and 10th fret respectively. Thanks for watching

  • please buy a better amp to play your guitars through. i absolutely love your videos, very well done, but playing the guitars through a digitally chorused amp really does not give them justice in respect to their natural tone. Maybe like a twin reverb, or you could even get away with perhaps a peavey classic 50 or 30.

  • @laus102

Thanks for watching, and the suggestion. We have received about 50 suggestions to do so. Starting in Episode 36 you'll find we switched to a tube amp (musicman RD112, and then a Fender Blues Deluxe) What a difference. So as of today Episodes 36-60 are just as you suggested. Thanks

  • Nice Minarik behind you if I'm not mistaken.

    :D

the have odd shapes but they are beautiful, my favorite is the Medusa.

  • @ColbyJMeyer

Good eye. That's a Minarik Goddess.

  • @brianway1 I love Minarik, never owned one but, one day maybe, are they good?

  • I had an AL3000 in honeyburst - ended up selling to one of my students because I was building a Les Paul copy myself. I have to say THE AGILE WAS AS GOOD OR BETTER THAN ANY OF THE GIB"S I"VE OWNED OVER THE YEARS. Very good craftsmanship/ good pickups, good fret work. I DID put in Sprague Orange drop caps which just made it even sweeter. For the money, you can't go wrong with an Agile Paul copy. Pay the extra for the 3000 - tons of bang-for-the-buck.

  • Gibson got overpriced. If I buy a Les Paul, it's going to be Agile.

  • i have the 2000 which im learning to play on.....but i really am thinking of getting the 3000 once i get good enough to justify a better guitar.....the 2000 is pretty good for what it is...

  • @mjfan123085

Absolutely. I wish we had the AL2000 in the early 1970's to learn to play on.

  • This is exactly what I was looking for. Amazing review!! Thanks man!! I'm really considering on getting one of these =D

  • Is the agile 3000 really worth 400 bucks? It seems really awsome, but I want it to be worth the money.

  • @Skim3431 It's less money than the Epiphone LP and blows it away. Direct sales is how they do it.

  • all nickel? I'm nickel allergic, figures :P

  • Hey man, I just wanted to say that I love your reviews. I was playing around with the idea of getting a 'Paul, but I can't really justify spending that much. After seeing your review of this, I might end up with an Agile instead!

  • @defBILLtones

    Welcome to the Agile club.

  • @brianway1 What is the neck thickness difference from the regular Agile AL-3000 CSBF and the Agile AL-3000 CSBF Wide?

  • @vanzeposmith910

The profile is the same, but your width increases by about an 1/8"

  • @defBILLtones Don't! Wait, save some more money, and get a decent one.

  • Whats better, this or an Epiphone LP Custom or and Epi Slash Signature standard.

  • Comment removed

  • You look like character actor Richard Riehle, of "Office Space" fame.

  • i have a black one, lefty, love it

  • @aezeon my only complaint is the truss rod cover says 300 upside down cause its for a righty and they never printed up some lefty covers

  • @aezeon 3000*

  • @aezeon I noticed that too. Kind of annoying that they would ignore something like that after making it look so good

  • @aezeon

I know what you mean. Many guitar companies only put right hand truss rod covers on left hand guitars

  • I'm going to buy either this, or the Dauntless (with the EMG's, indian rosewood, instead of ebony and alcino p'ups.)

If you wouldn't mind answering a question...

What sort of difference are the EMG's going to make over the Alcino covered PuPs? I haven't played either.. Will the emg's be warmer?

This is going to be my gigging guitar, but it needs to be versatile.. From Clean, to a Crunch.

  • @SUPitsDave

I like the Alnico V pickups, but EMG makes good pickups also. I've only used the active pickups which are great; not their passive pickups which is what you are referring to.

  • @brianway1 Ok cheers. Thanks for the hasty reply. love your vids, and rondo music! :)

  • @SUPitsDave dude, emg selects are the worst pickups ever. they are bottom of the line budget pickups from the EMG line. sort of like 'duncan designed' ones from seymour duncan.

  • @notstevelam o ok haha. I'm leaning more towards the 3100 now due to these replies. I could always put in some decent pickups later on anyway if i feel like changing.

    cheers dude!

  • jon way you need to make your own music and sell it on a cd id buy it in a heartbeat

  • When you were playing the clean channel first on all 3 positions, what song was that or did you make it yourself?

  • @vanzeposmith910

Yes, it's one of mine. Once upon a dream. Thanks for watching

  • @brianway1 It'd be cool if you could do a tab or a how to for it because it sounds beautiful. And how is the sustain?

  • @vanzeposmith910

Sustains well. A tab for what tune? Could you tmark the time of the video?

  • @vanzeposmith910 Once upon a dream.

  • @vanzeposmith910

Ok, I'll see what I can do.

  • Turn of the reverb dude, or cut back on it, the OD sounds like shit with it.

  • @omegalen

This was Episode 17. You might want to watch Episodes 39-59. There we were using tube amps with no effects, just guitar. Enjoy

  • Hey Jon, I have some questions for you. I have my eye on an Agile AL-3000 2TS flame top. I'm assuming it's identical to the one you're playing in the video. In your opinion, if you were to buy this guitar today what changes/mods do you think SHOULD be made to it? Also, what about the necks? Are they usually pretty level on the Agiles? Is the nut that comes with the guitar good enough or would you consider replacing it as well?

  • @killerdude35

The Al3000 and up are nice instruments. That being said, you have a couple of different neck profiles. I prefer a fatter neck, but many people like a slim neck profile. Both are available. The nut I'd replace with bone. Pickups are funny. Sometimes they are great with no change needed, and sometimes I replace them with SD 59' and JB. The necks are good, but every guitar, and I mean every manufacturer under $800-$1,000 needs some fret work of polishing and leveling done.

  • @brianway1 Again, thanks for the input. I'm actually thinking about a couple of DiMarzio's. An SD100 in the bridge and a PAF 36th anniversary D103 at the neck. Also, what about the bridge? Would you replace it with a tune-o-matic?

  • @killerdude35

The pickup choices sound good. I'm not sure you would want to change the bridge unless you were going to take the time to replace the posts too, but there is an argument to be made about sound transfer with heavier posts.

  • @brianway1

Hey Jon, just one more question for you. In terms of the AL2000's vs the AL3100's. In your opinion do you think the differences between the two make the AL3100's worth it for the price difference? I'm just really torn as to whether it's worth the extra money. Also, I noticed the 3100M's are about 200.00 more than the standard 3100's. The only difference I see is the 3/4" maple top. Is that feature REALLY worth a 200.00 swing in price in your opinion?

  • @killerdude35

If you can afford the extra money, go with the AL3000-AL3100. The AL2000 uses a 3 piece body with basically a maple veneer. The AL3000s use a 2 piece center jointed body with a better grade of maple veneer, but the M is worth more if you want a Les Paul, because the 3/4" maple is going to effect the sound whereas the maple veneer is going to effect the looks NOT the sound. The pickups are Alnico V and the hardware is nickel. Buy the better guitar and you'll be glad you did.

  • @killerdude35 IMHO, I haven't played either, but if you look at the specs, the 3100 seems to be far superior.

better tuners, better fingerboard, nicer inlays, better wiring, nicer overall finish.. think of it as comparing a standar Ibanez RG, to their Prestige line (if you're familiar with ibanez at all), or a Epi LP to a good Gibson.

I wouldn't get the 2000 simply for the fact of the machine heads.. you will need to replace them most likely if you want it to stay in tune.

  • I bought a 3100 a few years ago, one of the few guitars that I did not change the pickups on, they sound great! Yes, it weighs a metric ton, but has a great sound. Worth the price!

  • These guitars are very heavy. The one I had was over 11lbs...

  • Hey Brian, I was really hoping you could tell me how these guitars compare to other guitars? I really want an Angelus HGS from Caparison but they're discontinued and becoming increasingly rare and expensive. How does this guitar stand up against something like a PRS Custom 22, is it closer to a low end Epiphone like the price would suggest, or is it really all that high quality for a low price?

  • @GitarrPwnz

The AL2000 would compare with an Epi, but the AL3000 is much nicer. The PRS is going to be lighter, and give you a different feel than this AL3000. The PRS is in a different category entirely. This is a nice guitar for the money.

  • @brianway1 Thanks man that helps a ton.

  • Comment removed

  • Just say no to FRagile

  • @TheLincoln40 Is there something wrong with their construction??? I'm considering buying so please tell me if I need to know something! lol thanks

  • Your videos basically demo every guitar I've ever seriously considered buying! Thank you so much :).

  • I've had an AL300 for about a year and its look is amazing but I don't really like the tone...the neck pickup lacks definition and the bridge pickup is too jingly. Maybe I'll try changing the pickups to make its sound match its beauty

  • @vivereostuni

You might want to try a Seymour Duncan Jazz in the neck and SD 59 in the bridge.

  • Comment removed

  • is there any chance to review the agile ST 1200? please i beg you!! i've looking for a review of it, but no one has that guitar :(

  • I have had one of these guitars at one time. The Agile Al series (2000 - 3100) is probably the best guitar I have ever owned. There is no way anyone could be unhappy with what you will get for the price they ask for their guitars. Best deal on the net from Rondo Music. Wait tell you open the box and see the beauty of these axes!

  • My back is hurting just looking at that thing. I used to have a Gibson Les Paul Black Beauty when I was a kid, but you couldn't give me a guitar that heavy now.

  • @Hoopermazing

I know what you mean about the weight. You may want to check out our episode 35 on the ESP Ltd Ec1000. It plays like a dream and is quite light, due to its body thickness.

  • I thought there was a contour on the cutaway so you can reach the very last frets.

  • @SuperGuitarMark

That would be a great addition, but it 's not featured on this model.

  • @brianway1 Can you reach the very last frets on that agile easily? (like frets 19-22)

  • @SuperGuitarMark Can you reach the very last frets on that agile easily? (like frets 19-22)

  • @SuperGuitarMark

No differently than a Les Paul, though there are guitars like the Aria PE, among others, which give you very easy access to the higher frets.

  • very nice nut lol, thanks for commenting on my nut, JK.

  • Just buy the Agile AL-2000.

  • How bout one of the agile 12strings? :D

  • @Bertziethegreat

That would be fun to review. Send Rondo Music an email requesting a video on one of those. Maybe they'll have us review it.

  • i got an agile al 3000!! thank you sir, now i'm planning to get an AL-3100 with the slim neck because i have small hands....

  • @SkidRow2341

That's a Raven West RM300DX with a couple of mods. No pickguard, new knobs, and Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates pickups. Thanks for watching.

  • @SkidRow2341

That's a Raven West RM300DX with a couple of mods. No pickguard, new knobs, and Seymour Duncam Pearly Gates pickups. Thanks for watching.

  • anyone else get a boner from watching this?

  • is it a photo flame or is it real flamed maple?

  • @jaron9506 its real flamed maple but it is only a thin veneer. so you will get the same tonal qualities as a regular all mahogany guitar. if you want something with a 3/4 maple cap you need to look at the Al 3000M

  • @jaron9506

1/16" flamed maple top. Not a photo, but only a veneer.

  • Where can you buy it in uk ??

  • @CWModels1

You will need to go online to Rondo Music as they only sell via the internet.

  • What do you think its better, the Epiphone Les Paul Standard or this one? And why... thanks .. =)

    Mac.

  • @Macsk8ing

There is no question. The AL3000 is a much better guitar than the Epi LP standard. Triple binding, ebony fingerboard with abalone inlays. nickel hardware. Cheaper than Epi and more features. Hope this helps.

  • @brianway1 Thanks, everybody is saying the same too, this must be really good guitars, they look awsome, I guess If I want a LP Style guitar, with high quality and gor under 500 I should get agile, because everybody says epiphone is cheap now. Thanks.

  • @brianway1 Just about ANYTHING these days is BETTER than an Epi copy!

Only gen Epi models are as good as ever, like Sheratons and Casinos or Wishires etc.

Gibbo copies? NAH! BETTER budget models about with better quality build and materials!

  • hey man, can you reach the very last frets easily on this guitar because the guitar i have has a cutaway that is not really good, i can't reach the last frets very easily and i wanna know if the cutaway is good before i buy one.

  • Jon Way is so fucking cool, he can play both right and left handed guitars, see the Agile 2000 video

  • I like the agile al 2000 better, it looks more like a les paul because it has a rosewood and normal inlays, and no binding on the neck

  • Great review and nice playing man.

  • @kizmetx

Thanks for this nice comment. Glad you enjoyed the review.

  • finally nice guitars for a fair price!

  • hey that melody u play did u make that up or did you get it from a song? its very catchy :)

  • @Daniel12USA

Glad you like it. All the tunes on all the videos are my own music. We'll try to release a CD in 2011.

  • why is there all this washy effect going on in a guitar demo ?

  • @HackerGuitarist

If you mean the chorus effect through the amp then we're guilty. The early videos used a line 6 amp with chorus. We switched to a tube amp with a straight clean sound and then some gain sound as of Episode 34. It's been good listeners like you that have helped us make better videos. Check them out. We are up to 47 at this point.

  • @brianway1 thats good to know ...I am interested in some of the Agile line but would really like to know them from a quality and tone standpoint. I have read alot of reviews and hear alot of comparison/bashing of Gibson...I have yet to find a comparable instrument that touches my 85 LP STD. That said it's not possible to try before you buy an Agile so I'm understandably cautios and learning all I can about them ...thanks for your reviews

  • @HackerGuitarist

This isn't your 1985 Gibson Les Paul. Most of the comparisons we discuss are people looking for an Epi LP, and this guitar blows those Epi LPs away. This isn't going to be as nice as a Gibson Les Paul. Poly finish vs. Lacquer finish, etc. In your situation this may make a very good 2nd guitar. Hope this helps.

  • Could you please do a review on the 3100 mini humbucker one?

  • @Kingddd333

Sure, but the best thing to do is send Kurt an email requesting us to review the 3100

  • @bryansouza

The only real difference is going to be the width of the neck. At the nut the AL-3000 is 1-5/8" whereas the AL-31000 wide is 1-3/4" wide. Everything else is fundamentally the same. No difference on abalone or mother of pearl regarding dirt. They would both last a long time.

  • Boy, just listen to the tone of the body-wood. You can really hear it underneath all the processed effects on that digital amp (And people wonder why I hate Line 6).

I'm only saying this because this is clearly a vintage-style guitar aimed at the Les Paul market. It would make more sense to me if you used a simple tube amp like a Fender Deluxe reissue or maybe some Marshall-type amp that will better amplify the guitar's acoustic-tone. Call me crazy, but that's how I'd do it.

  • Hello Jon. I really like AL-3100 HSBF But Iove my action really low. Can I get this with the HSBF?

  • @choplass

Yes you can, but you want to make sure the frets are perfectly level and dressed. An easy job for a good luthier.

  • 4:03, The evil stare of a Metal genius. Don't even try to front, Jon Way will fuck your shit up!

  • @clutchfan256

The Agile AL3000 is really well made, so you'll like the guitar. You can change out the pickups to some Seymour Duncan Dimebag humbuckers to jack it up a notch.

  • I appreciate the review, but it would be nice to hear the guitar without all the effects.

  • @TruckyNiggets

We hear you loud and clear. If you get a chance check out episode 35 where we use no effects on the review.

  • @brianway1 PPPPLLLLLEEEAAASSEE! Mr. can you tell me if an Epiphone LP Studio Deluxe, or this one is better, I got money fo both but I just can't decide. PLEASe , tell me with details why wich one is better than the other! With respect, thank you.

  • @Macsk8ing

Too much info for here. I'll send an email. Go for the Agile AL3000

  • @Macsk8ing

The Agile AL-3000 is WAYYY-better than the Epiphone models. First of all, the Epis are made in China, while the Agiles are made in Korea (BIG difference in quality-control). Plus, the AL-3000 has nicer pots, tuners, pickups, etc. Much-better deal for the money. Their only issue is the weight. They're heavy, but so is a comparable Epiphone. So basically, buy the Agile. Between the two, it's a much-better guitar. Epiphones went to sh*t when Gibson started having them made in China.

  • Hello Jon and Brian can you tell me which amp Jon plays through it has a unique tone thks Jeff

  • Really nice and smooth guitar! (and playing)

Would you please do a review about the AL-2500 with Bigsby vibrato?

    Thanks a lot...

  • @TheWyldepanther

We've done the AL2000 and AL3000, but if you drop Kurt an email maybe we can do the AL2500.

  • witch would be better an agile 2000 or the 3000

  • @cojo3989

Go with the AL3000. A lot of guitar for the money.

  • @brianway1 thank you very much but i just found out i cant by the 3000 but what are the cons and pros of the agile 2000

  • @cojo3989

I'll send you a comparison link

  • @brianway1 thank u very much but sound wise what would u recommend doing to the agile 2000

  • @MrXAVIERDB

Thanks for the kind words. We'll keep the vids coming......

  • Jon Way, you have convinced me to get an Agile ASAP. I've been watching your videos all day, and might I say they never get old. Thanks a bunch for putting these videos up!

  • @Fireskull39

The AL3000 is nice. Hope you get one.Glad you like the videos, and I'm a

Darth Vader fan so you're the man........

  • a Fast answer would be much appreciated thanks

  • holy shit you have the perfect radio voice!!!! and nice agile dude

  • @deathcore1239

Thanks for the nice comment.......and now a word from our sponsers....;)

  • Hey i have another question! there's a slim neck profile of the AL-3000. Does it affect the tone at all if it's a slim neck? - Thanks

  • you remind me of john wayne gacy and your name is jon way. hard stuff. just levels up your coolness.

  • Most affordable electric guitar on the market. I have been playing my 2500 for 2 years without any problems. It is a bit heavy though. After 30min of playing you have to stretch or put it down for a bit. Totally worth buying unless you will be playing a 2hr set.

  • I agree I don't understand why you demo these with effects and your idea of a little distortion is not anything I would ever chose. I have three different progamable multi effects processers and spent a lot of time programming them and would never consider hiding the basic sound of the guitar. On these all I hear is the effects unit.

  • @scottduncan44

Try episode 35 for a more direct or clean sound showing the real sound of the guitar. Also we should be switching to tube amps soon. Stay tuned.

  • Jon Way is a gentleman

  • Fat guy, "What we have here is a beautiful cheap knock off of a Gibson..."

  • @spanishmikealverez

Absolutely. Hope you get to try one. We'll review the Gibson Les Paul Custom in the near future.

  • Why would you use all that delay and chorus for a demo of a guitar? The sound has been doctored too much to get an accurate perception of the core guitar tone. By the way, doctored or not, I didn't think those clean tones sounded anywhere as warm as a real Les Paul... just sayin'.

  • @lastdon5581

Great point. Check out episodes 33,34,35 to hear straight signal through the amp instead of the GX700 processor. Also looking to go to tube soon instead of solid state.

  • You know if epiphone had something like this,it would be well over $1000.They'd slap some "custom shop" decal on the back of the headstock and some cheesy certificate or plaque just so youd pay an arm and a leg.

  • @rockerdude29

I mostly agree with you. This blows away an Epiphone LP, but the Epi Elites that were made in Japan were pretty sweet.
