  • Sweet. That's basically the modern version of mine. 9 HP? that's alotta mojo for that little guy. :) mine is only 5 hp. :'(

  • What a little piece of SHIT

  • Nicely done video.

I bought my Ariens last year too and it did the job every time. I used stabilizer and it started right away yesterday.

We are getting 6-12 inches today and I have to make sure I finish because the temperature will drop below zero tonight (NW Illinois).

I am happy to be an Ariens customer.

Merry Christmas and a very Happy and Healthy New Year to all!

  • Thanks man for the reply - do you have a video of your machine in action. What model do you have? And how long have you owned it? Its stormy here today but the snow has changed to rain-its very sloppy and slushy right now.

Happy holidays back at ya !!!! Cheers

  • I bought a 624E from GrandRiver Sales last year too. John was great to deal with. It was great having that machine last year as we got snow in mid november and it never stopped until spring. even though it's compact and has 6 hp that thing went thru the EOD crap no problem. I end up doing about 3-5 neighbours driveways, walks and EOD everytime. Way Too Much FUN ! ! ! !

  • Right on man - you ready for lots of snow this year. I know I am. If you have a camera take a video of that orange baby and welcome to team orange. John was excellent to deal with - did you purchase the Opti 4 oil ? Im going to crank my machine over this weekend and fire her up for a bit. Hope she runs like a cheeta and purs like a kitten.

  • fired mine up about 3 weeks ago. started first pull. i didn't purchase the Opti 4. I figured hey, it's an Arien's with a Tecumseh engine. nothing but top quality. it's like buying a toyota and getting the extended warranty. not required, in my opinion. Changed the oil in the spring before i put it away and stabalized the fuel. don't forget to buy a grease gun and top up the grease in the auger shaft. (Cdn Tire has a mini grease gun for $13.79). JUST WAITING FOR THE SNOW NOW.

  • Mark, thanks for the up on the mini grease gun - Im heading over to crappy tire right now. Thanks again man for the reply and info.

    Cheers

  • just because it says compact doesnt mean its smaller it means the engine is smaller but more powerful

  • nice video and snowblower 5/5

    -Jaycob

  • did your unit come with oil in it?

  • BRooo28, yes the snowblower came with the oil in it. I purchased my oil from the dealer and it came delivered with the new oil in the machine -I got an additional 2 year warranty on the engine for doing so.

  • Thanks for the tip on the Opti-4 oil. I wasn't aware of it. Even though we have Ariens, I would have purchased the oil, had I known about it, for the additional warranty.

  • Coronakid67,

Thanks for all your input on the snowblower. I ended up getting the Ariens 924 deluxe platinum. It's pretty much the same as yours but it has a 249 cc Briggs OHV engine rather than the Tecumseh you have since Tecumseh is out of business. I get the blower at the end of September. Can't wait to try it out in snow.

  • Joeraptor1, congrats on your purchase and welcome to team Orange...hahaha !!!

Love to see your new machine if you got a video camera... I'm about to change the oil and wax my baby up with Zaino car wax...wait till you see the shine on her.

I have read that the B/S OVH has more lower end torque - so you might throw the snow 50 feet or more now...have fun with it.

Let it snow let it snow, let it snow

  • Coronakid67,

    Thanks for the compliments.

Dealer told me that the deluxe platinum series is still being built at the factory. They expect to get it at the end of September or early October.

The B/S OHV engine should be fun to use.

I got a good deal on it. It's normally priced at $1800. They had an early bird special for $1500 plus I had them switch the metal shoes for the plastic ones since my driveway is interlock stone.

Can't wait to use it. Hopefully, we get an early winter this year.

  • Coronakid67,

Thanks for your response. I'm having a tough time picking between

    1. Deluxe 24: $1260

    2. Deluxe Platinum 24 $1784

Same basic machine except the platinum has the auto traction control while the deluxe has the pin lock axle. Platinum also has headlights, heated handles. Weight is very similar too. I don't know if it's worth it to spend the extra $500 for the platinum. The deluxe works if one wheel is locked with the pin lock. Not sure if this makes it hard to turn.

  • I'm looking at getting a similar Ariens model this year. It's called the deluxe platinum. It has a 9 hp Briggs OHV unit. I need the compactness for the same reason has you.

How easy is your unit to move? Does the auto traction control allow you to move the unit easily both when the engine is on or off?

  • Joeraptor1, congrats on your upcoming purchase - the snowblower is very easy to move on or off. This machine spins and turns on a dime when you need to turn in either direction. The traction control prevents wheel spin when digging in deep snow and senses directional change when you move left or right by locking up one side when it senses pressure on the wheels.

    Hope that answers your question.

  • Im having trouble posting with the reply button but this is a reply------ My machine does have the 318cc tecumseh snowking L-head engine which is the same as yours. Although my previous snowking lasted 15 years no prob. i wish ariens would push brigggs engines on their machines. they are a quieter cleaner burning OHV design and have MUCH more torque. Typically you only find them on ariens "pro" models. do you prefer B/S or Tec.

  • @pat12047 I have the same year as the original poster, except mine is the 11 hp 358cc (1130 DLE) with the Tecumseh engine. I went and listened to a 2012 Ariens of the same size as mine, only it had the B&S Motor, and I gotta tell you, I was not impressed with the Briggs and Stratton's noise level....that engine is way much noisier than the Tecumseh, plus when they shut it off, it backfired 3 times. Did the same with 2 other units as well. I'll stick with Tecumseh thank you very much.

  • I love my 2008 927le, there is just nothing like it. Why did you get the 924dle rather than the 1130dle for ~ same price. Only thing i regret is not getting the "dle" my neighbor got the 1328dle and he loves it too.

  • Hi Pat, the reason I bought the 924DLE was due to my space restrictions in my garage. We park a car in the single car garage and with the 24inch cut width it was the smallest blower with the most features that Ariens makes. I did not want a 2 stroke blower either...so the the 924 was the best choice for me. The price was a bit more than the 927LE but it has a few extra features like the remote chute controls and the traction control system as well.

Does your machine have B/S or Snowking?

  • Nice machine. It's a few years newer than mine. How much is that model going for these days.

  • Paisteboy, the machine base price was $1433.00 plus taxes. I put on poly skid shoes for $33.00 and Opti-4 oil 6 pack for about 60 bucks...the oil purchase gave me 2 more years additional warranty as well.

  • Cool. My brother in law bought a brand new Husquvarna 32" snow blower a couple years ago with the steering control and everthing. I went to his house the other night a used it for a little bit and realized that the Ariens snowblowers work better in a nuber of ways. I'm glad I bought the Ariens.

  • the reviews on the net about the Husquvarnas are very negative. I was looking at them during the summer, but I am glad I have the Ariens.

  • Oh. Where did you read those reviews? I like to read them too.

  • My brother in law has a Husquvarna too. It's too bulky & harder too move around. I agree, he should have purchased a real orange baby.

  • This machine is perfect. Nice investment.

  • Great Decision, Ariens really did awesome with their design on this one.

Was that Opti-4 oil put in special from Tecumseh or Ariens or did the purchasing dealer pour it in?

  • The Opti-4 was put in by the dealer that sold the machine to me. It gave me 2 extra years on the engine warranty as well.

  • I was just curious if Tecumseh or Ariens was pushing it ;)

  • Tecumsehs are good engines for winter operations. Snowblowers, ice augers, etc. Were made in New Holstein Wisconsin not sure if they still are.

  • Its pronounced "Aarons". Made in Brillon Wisconsin.

  • im not saying all tecumsehs suck i mean all the older ones pre 1980's where fricking dreams. some now adays suck completely butsometimes you get lucky. imgetting atecumseh tommorrow but im happy either way

  • Sorry to say Tecumseh is history NLA , you have bought a dinosaur , return it and go with an OHV Briggs for sure . Good luck with that unit :>)

  • Not to worry about the Tecumseh engine.. My old snowblower had the exact same engine and i kept it for 22 years.. My niece's boyfriend has it now and it's still going strong..If you change the oil every year and put fuel stabillizer when winter is over, that engine will probably outlast the machine itself..By the way, my new snowblower just got delivered to my house today and it started at first crank..CoolCat

  • Cool Snowblower!.. I've just bought one myself and it's a 9526DLE ..But i don't have it yet..It's on order and the shop is suppose to receive it by mid november..So i guess by next week or so, i'll have it in my garage..

  • Well Coronakid67, you made a wise choice there for sure. I actually work for a small engine repair company and what we see are the exact opposite as mentioned by mechjoe. The B/S engine run quieter however, we do see alot of 5 year old and up machines neededing valve jobs. The tecumseh is the way to go...its old school technology but way superior in terms of performance. Ill post pics of the B/S engines we've worked on...we call them the "bullshit" engine here at the shop.

    Lets hear it go

  • nice. but............. you might want to take it back. its got a tecumseh. sure it runs fine no but notfor long.the resone ppl dont by tecumseh's isbecause there carb is lower thenthe engine which causese themto suck. also the block is made out of cheap materials . look forabriggs engine

  • what happened to tecumseh they barely make anything anymore
