I took my Adventure out on the Silk Road in China last year and I have to say it is the best ride ever. handling and performance are exceptional.

Don't buy the Adventure unless you are really tall and need an enormous tank. The regular model is good enough for almost every situation and much lighter with the same power that the Adventure model.

I bought the new 2008 model last year (more power and torque, electronic adaptive suspensions etc) which I use in the Alps. It's unbeatable on small mountain roads and perfect also for long distance.

Hate to be a stickler but that is not an R1200GS Adventure. It is a regular 1200GS.

That is not an adventure. It is a regular GS

agreed, but doesn't the regular GS have cast aluminun wheels? This bike has the adventure's spoke wheels on it.
