  • The remark "no diction german sucks" - if I understand it - is the opposite of the truth: her German diction is perfect, better than many a German singer's. (FYI, I have spent 42 years of my life in Germany, going to the opera houses of Hamburg, Darmstadt, Frankfurt and Berlin.) But it is sad that nobody thought to ask her to record these songs with an orchestra.

  • I agree... absence of an orchestra... such a pity... But her voice is still great!

  • I love Troyanos' voice but her interpretation doesn't quite touch me. The big problem, of course, is the absence of an orchestra, so I can't really blame her. The horns and woodwinds are crucial for getting the heartbreaking pathos of the song. Mahler's orchestrations are so beautiful that the "voices" are already there. The singing voice is almost unnecessary except to render the text.

  • I was really looking forward to how she would treat "Bei meinem Herzallerlieble," which drains every ounce of breath from me when I sing it. Turns out, she cheats! I should have considered that option.

  • no diction german sucks

  • Wonderful!!! I just find there are a little too many glissandi, but as a singer myself I cannot criticize, for very few people are capable of singing that beautifully today in the world...

  • Absolutely a lovely, lovely instrument, but I might have to agree with who ever said a little too much slurring... and I crave a little more tenderness in the piano moments, the dynamic brought down a little more. I'm performing this, so I have the translation right here... an interesting interpretation at times!

  • She lives inside the music and her legato singing is something all aspiring singers should clap their ears on - there is absolutley no strain and the entire range is in one piece. I just don't hear it form singers these days - bel canto technique RULES and the sooner we get back to sculpting sound and freeing teh voice instead of pushied and over inflated sound the better! And note, this true artist sang with consistency and beauty until her untimely death - what she could have passed on!

  • Maravilloso eco de la desesperación y la tristeza... Vocalmente prefiero a la Norman, pero Troyanos es desgarradora.

  • OH I love Tatiana Troyanos

  • Che dire...semplicemente meravigliosa.

  • Nice, but she slurs a bit too much sometimes. I love the accompanist.
