  • So epic. The HDR blending and color grading is spot on (as usual!). I did a workflow tutorial because a lot of people were asking if you are interested: watch?v=bdtLZUS92Vw

  • WOW!!!!! Could you share your workflow with us?

  • could you/ have you made a tutorial on how to do this. you seem to know what you are doing.

I thought i was watching a hollywood film when watching this vid. keep up the good work.

  • Talk about film look!!!

  • God I want a 5D so bad!!!!!

  • Cool stuff man ...looking real nice:)

    Jacques

  • this was nice. wow

  • Dang Marika..your ass really look good in HDR!

  • @pgice Looks even better in real life ;)

  • @Neumannfilms good one!

  • @pgice Whoa I hope your a friend of theirs, if not that's f'd up.

  • fantastic footage and edit .....Im using a panasonic HMC151 ...and a sony a55 DSLR ....imwanting toupgrade the sony ...do i go DSLR, or do i leave it all behind and go panasonic ac160 ...any thoughts would be appreciated !!!!!

  • How did you manage the framerate? Im sure you need double framerate, that means you need 50 fps, but 5D mkII runs only 25 fps... So, how?

  • Dang those mountains are beautiful.

  • Just curious as to how you got so little ghosting in the video. Are you using the default raw.mov and virtualdub technique? Mine have all had too much ghosting to actually use in a project comfortable. I am wondering when someone will come up with a script for twixtor to interpolate the frames, seems like it would do a much better job.

  • FRICK someone needs to hack the NEX 5N. 1080p60 with HDR would be sick in a camera that small.... Would be perfect for me :/ Well I am a programmer, maybe I should do it.

  • for a test video this is amazing.

  • I still can't see what HDR does, but the video looks amazing. Is it available for the Canon 600D(Rebel T3i)?

  • Fantastic!

  • Check out my first attempt! :)

  • @Flasher732 Yeah! It's one of the free ones.

  • @Flasher732 Check the links in the information. But yes, you can.

  • How you get two files with two different exposures at the same time? idont get it?

  • @JetOuterBlack you get a frame with one exposure and the next frame will be the next exposure. it films it like its "flickering" back and forth between the two exposures you set. then you interpolate them together in post.

  • @BetaProductionsTM Wow now i get it, i will try it soon Thanku Very Much, I love your work

  • HDR isn't available on the 5DMkII with the new ML yet. Software issues... Only T2i, 60D, and the T3i.

  • @JoshuaBeeLoved Ha ha. Sure about that? Want to make a little wager? I will give you 100 to 1 odds.

  • @JoshuaBeeLoved Lol check the magic lantern wiki page, you think he's lying? This guy is legit.

  • @JoshuaBeeLoved Read the description to this video.

  • @JoshuaBeeLoved - it is available. search for xmas edition

  • Hey! Can you click the mobile devices on for these so I can view on my iPad? Thanks and keep up the great work. And...Merry Christmas!!!

  • What lens(es) were you guys using for this video?

  • That's really good stuff!! just great work!

are you gonna upload a tutorial about the method you have used?

  • What lens did you guys use in this video?

  • Am I the only one that thinks Marika has a nice arse?

    Great work guys!

    ATB Malc

  • @Ghostmaker1970 Well, you aren't the ONLY one. I obviously agree. Ha ha!

  • @Neumannfilms I am glad my comment was taken in the spirit it was intended. Really looking forward to seeing more of it in the new year =)

Merry Christmas Marika, Luke and Pete I hope you all have a good one!

  • Seriously, very nice work Luke. A good example of capabilities for this wonderful feature.

  • Great stuff man! I'm thinking of getting magic lantern man, you sure it doesn't have any hang ups? does it make the cam hang or anything?

  • this HDR isnt as i guess what i was expecting, if you've seen the HDR on canon 5D mkII where they use two cameras it has more of a glowing effect around the people it looks really nice actually.

  • @imask8r That's all done in Editing. You could totally do that with this method...I just prefer using the extra Dynamic Range to enhance the overall look. I don't want to make it look surreal, I just want to make it look like a camera with really high Dynamic Range.

  • @Neumannfilms But that is a look you can get? wow..yeh man ill be waiting on that tutorial i havent been using the HDR mode yet but i turned it on seems really interesting and useful

  • nice!!! im excited!!! thanks for posting this!!

  • Very nice Luke! Did you try not move much during the takes?

  • Do you need special software to edit HDR video? I have Final Cut X will that work?

  • Gonna Flash the Magic lantern SW this weekend and start taking some videos!

  • So if it's capturing two sets of video at the same time, then what kind of problems are we looking at with bit rate/ write speed and recording time?

  • @39 whats the hair in the sky? lol

  • @imask8r Good catch! I thought I took care of all of those. Time to clean the sensor...

  • @Neumannfilms haha how you liking it? i just got it for t3i and it does have HDR video. im slightly upset it doesnt have the manual audio adjustments like you get on the t2i's version:/

  • @imask8r I'm liking it! I want to find a better way to do post though. Don't like compressing to JPEG right out of the gate and I don't like the motion artifacts. I'm sure we will see improvements. I can't complain though...it's HDR video!! Some of the shots we got yesterday would be impossible to expose otherwise.

  • @imask8r

dude, the t3i already has manual audio adjustments built in... so you're all set

  • @bsdragons37 it has them to an extent lol...you can move em up and down i want DB audio control and noise control

  • @imask8r , i'm just getting into this DSLR video. Everyone is talking about magic lantern.

Where can go to download this OFFICIALLY for T3i (600d)

Will installing this void my warranty or damage the camera?

    thankyou kindly

  • i installed it. but not sure where to find it in the magic lantern .

  • Please make a tutorial!!!

  • @TheBathroomNightmare It's not that hard. Just follow the instructions that are given with the download.

  • Nice Ass shot 00:32 .. good job... lol

  • These look much better than your initial test, they're much more natural and appealing to the eye

  • @marksest That would be the 5D Mark II! :)

  • @Neumannfilms Ah I see, are you using the standard workflow?

  • @marksest Yeah, I did yesterday. Excited to try this new one out though.

  • @Neumannfilms Cool! I couldn't make sense of the recommended workflow, so I've been experimenting with after effects. Time remapping to 50% and using blending modes or a luma key gives interesting results, you should give it a try!

  • Am I blind or does it still have some trouble with the dark areas? They seem crushed or something...

  • @gskowal I crushed the blacks because I hate the "HDR" look. Having this much latitude really allows you to punch up the image and add Contrast where before, the shadows might be lost at Contrast of +20, you can now go up to +50.

  • sat what you will about Lady in The Water, that soundtrack is awesome!

  • IT'S AMAZING)

  • I thought the tutorial was supposed to be yesterday?

  • @vrsrox I uploaded it instead.

  • Could you please make a tutorial about the post production process?

  • the capabilities of this camera still amaze me overtime i get mine out. its amazing what you can do with just a low budget camera without having to bring around thousands of dollars worth of equipment.

  • ML is awesome, big thanks to the team, the next step would be that the HDR video doesn't need post production to be achieved.

  • Not working for ipad guys

  • Not working for ippa

  • Love it, looks stunning!!

  • WOW that looks awesome!

and you don't seem to have trouble with syncing HDR?

  • The HDR looks good, It would be nice if you had before and after shots so then we can really see the difference between a normal issue and then the HDR version.

  • @crazychristian28 Check my channel for comparison shots. :)

  • @crazychristian28 Agreed, though you really can see the difference in the forest alone. Detail in the leaves with a properly exposed sky is pretty amazing.. that's gotta be at least a few stops outside of the regular dynamic range in difference

  • That is truly impressive. By using the features of magic lantern you produce amazing shots.

One day I hope to hang out with you guys, maybe get to know something about how you film, you guys inspire me!

  • Nice, what lens were you using?

  • Looks really good, I wish I could walk up a mountain and do some filming (or drive, but I am not 17 yet), I live in the fenlands, which is the flattest place in the UK

  • The good thing about this kind of HDR video is that - on comparison to many HDR fotos - it does not look artifical.

  • Could you probably realy do a Video about shooting a HDR Video? And also a thing that would be very interesting is in generell how to the Magic Lantern Software well! I've got the Software for 'bout 2 Months and still not sure if I use everything correctly. Greetings from Germany, btw incredible shots!

  • Tutorial on how to shood VIDEOS on hdr! :)

  • @BallpenEater "HDR (High Dynamic Range) is performed in camera by capturing two different ISO values. Most of these shots were at ISO 100-800 or 200-1600. Those two streams are then split and re-fused back together in post production to produce the HDR video." <-- in the description to this video.

  • @TinyVFX I know.... I read the desc. I was just curious how he captured at 2 ISOs at the same time. I, myself have a video on an HDR picture...

  • @BallpenEater He used the new Magic Lantern for Canon. I don't know how to use it as I have a Nikon, but im sure in the settings of Magic Lantern there's an option for HDR video/multiple ISO settings.

  • what a beautiful looking place to live

  • Looks amazing! Shots 3 and 9 were my favourite (: Is there anything like Magic Lantern for Nikon?

  • I'm definitely getting the new ML right now! Thanks for keeping me updated! I've been following you guys since the hotcast zombie days! This is my new channel I just started. Couldn't of done it without ya. Seriously, you guys inspired me to buy a T2i and start Animfantastic! You are my film school. Love ya guys, Happy Holidays n Merry Christmas =0) - Daniel James

  • i don't understand how you can film in hdr?

  • @nanohack111 Check out the info of this video.

  • @Dod3032 yeahr sure, i know i understand that part, but how is magic lanther working?

  • Why i cant watch this video on my ipad?

  • @93i8 Check again.

  • NICE!

  • Looks awesome.
