However, Israel has a diversifying series of military and trade relationships with countries like the UK, Italy, Turkey, China, India, Canada, Thailand and Singapore. It has stable relations with France, Germany and Spain... as well. The U.S. is VERY influential in the world. Decisions by American leaders have serious repercussions for every country. Israel is tiny so American decisions have a huge impact. As the only democracy in the Middle East, the U.S. supports Israel NOT out of the goodness of our hearts but because Israel is a VERY important strategic point for U.S. security. It is the intersection of three continents: Europe, Asia, and Africa. There are many reasons that it behooves Americans to support Israel.

Israel should not agree to a two state solution. They should go for a one state solution, meaning there will be no Palestinian state! The West Bank should be ceded to Jordan and all Israeli Arabs should be encouraged to immigrate.
Why should the West Bank be ceded to Jordan? Israel was originally supposed to receive this land. However the day Israel declared independence, seven Arab armies attacked, including Jordan's. Jordan controlled what is now the so-called West Bank, including half of Jerusalem and the entire Old City. Nineteen years later, in 1967, Israel took it back. For 41 years, this land is part of Israel. There are patches of land (like Indian reservations) set aside for Palestinians. But this land is Israel.

However, Israel has a diversifying series of military and trade relationships with countries like the UK, Italy, Turkey, China, India, Canada, Thailand and Singapore. It has stable relations with France, Germany and Spain... as well. i can't think of any scenario when the US has been ready to put troops on the ground for israel. it never would have to. no country is going to carry out a ground attack against israel. nukes can play a role in deterrence or at least in destroying an enemy entirely. the only likely threat to israel would be bombs, which no US ground presence could do anything about. in any event, it's secure enough either way, and we american jews have other issues like the financial crisis, housing crisis, etc

There are plenty of terror attacks that weren't 9/11 or Israeli bombings. For example, the Oklahoma City bombing killed 168 people in 1995. That's not a lot compared to 9/11 but it was a big terrorist attack, planned by...2 white guys.
Not all terrorist attacks are on the news.
As for Bill Ayers, he was on a school board that Obama was on. They knew each other a little bit, they weren't great friends.

And why was Obama kicking off his political career in Ayers livingroom if they were only vaguely known to each other? I was initially "for" Obama until I began to research more into the beliefs he held and the company he kept. The U.S. is VERY influential in the world. Decisions by American leaders have serious repercussions for every country. Israel is tiny so American decisions have a huge impact. As the only democracy in the Middle East, the U.S. supports Israel NOT out of the goodness of our hearts but because Israel is a VERY important strategic point for U.S. security. It is the intersection of three continents: Europe, Asia, and Africa. There are many reasons that it behooves Americans to support Israel.

Khalid. As a UK citizen, I claim the right to have a say (but not a vote) in US politics, simply because what the US does will have a huge impact over here. It was largely US financial madness that led to the current crisis that is hurting the UK badly. I don't agree with this video, but I think Jews have every right to be concerned about US outcomes. Israel could be destroyed if US support were taken away, and that would be a disaster for the democratic world.

Dude you're 100% right but by this definition of Democracy, the U.S. is NOT a Democracy either. The U.S. is actually a Republic. The name Democracy only became associated with the U.S. with the formation of the Democratic Republican Party, now called the Democratic Party. You could just as easily call this country anything else, based on which of a dozen or two parties you support. According to a list of parties on Wikipedia, there's actually a Marijuana Party! Go figure...

Why should the West Bank be ceded to Jordan? Israel was originally supposed to receive this land. However the day Israel declared independence, seven Arab armies attacked, including Jordan's. Jordan controlled what is now the so-called West Bank, including half of Jerusalem and the entire Old City. Nineteen years later, in 1967, Israel took it back. For 41 years, this land is part of Israel. There are patches of land (like Indian reservations) set aside for Palestinians. But this land is Israel.

There can be no real peace between Israel and its Arab neighbours, unless Islam is reformed. And that might take a 1000 years. But China is growing, Russia is making a comeback and America, while still the number one, is more like the first among equals than an outright dominant power. So Israel has to be play smart.
