I remember that Thor has actually gone up against Galactus while fighting against the Silver Surfer, damaging him with little ill effect to himself (watch?v=RmgkmxY24xE), but I haven't read too deeply into that so I can really say how the two could be compared, strength-wise. In the animated cartoon though, Thor was unaware that Bruce Banner had been separated from the Hulk. He did not want to kill Bruce Banner.

I'm thinking about the one connection between Thor and Captain America would be the women in their lives. Not speaking just as guy talk, but as character dilemmas.

Thor is literally an immortal compared to Jane, so her death will be too soon for him, and Captain America is in cultural shock and not able to see his lover again.

Be about the disadvantage of being a superhero compared to the average human. That I think would complement the heroes in their standalone films after the AVENGERS.
