  • I hope you exercise regularly and have a good diet. We want you around a very long time too.

  • thats awesome you know so much about computers for your age, No offense or anything, it is really amazing.

  • lol I think the man from your village was only trying to be amiable in a backward sense lol There seems to be a taboo or a self enforced taboo about talking about the war. The war generation should realise they dont have to keep shtum about the war and no longer have to 'not grumble' about the hardships and extraordinary experieneces they went through, because my generation (I'm 23) feel quite alienated from what happened in the 1st and 2nd world war.

  • @asonofleemarvin I just learned in school (I'm 16 so i guess I'm part of your generation, although if you're comment is 3 years old I guess you're 26 now, don't know) that the atomic bomb survivors of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were actually restricted from talking about it by the govn of Japan. didn't get to speak until very recently. that killed me! WWI is too long ago but I think anyone who is old enough to remember the WWII era should talk about it. same goes for the Cold War, more recent

  • Apology accepted

  • Whinging? Moaning and groaning? Methinks your village acquaintance might be a bit envious, Peter.;-)

  • Not for a moment did I think you were complaining or groaning. He is wrong. You are reminising about old times and telling us all about it. We are so so interested!! We love you!

  • "wrinklies and crinklies"? "whinging"? You always make me smile, Peter! I love your readings, and want to own "All the Way Through". Is it available on your website? Anyway, thank you, I'm off to the next blog...

  • I don't detect any moaning and groaning. Keep on keeping on!!! :)

  • dogs!

  • dogs! what the hell?

  • your the coolest, grooviest up to speed, computer literate Grandpa i Know..keep on tubing ....stretch from Australia

  • I have never had the impression that you are moaning and groaning. Who cares what he thinks. If he doesn't appreciate your contribution as we do he is free not to watch them. I cannot understand why he would feel the need to approach you and say what he did.

  • hey assholes give some respect to the man! ha budd53 you think this man is stupid. GO SUCK YOUR DADS CANDYCANE i done give a shit if you saying this crap to a 10 or 20 yr old man or boy buhh to this man he is more older and is spending his time with up. give the man respect,

  • Perhaps the person who was introduced to you only watched your very first video where you mentioned, if i remember correctly, that you INTENDED to do a bit of grumbling about the state of affairs and just never watched a majority of your videos. Keep up the work!

  • you are old ;) LOL

  • don't pay much attention to the folk's on the street, i've only found you're blogs in the last few days. it's nice to see an older person of the british community embracing new things. (sometimes rare) keep up the bloging and i hope to hear more in the future. Dean, south coast, England.

  • What an ace man

  • OMG, you build your own rigs? You have got to be one of the coolest elders i've ever seen. Seriously you rock Peter!

  • You don't need to apologize for the sound quality nor the manner in which you tell your life story. No, you do not sound like you are "moaning and groaning"! Sounds as if that man in town may have a slight case of jealousy. Please keep doing what you do now. We LOVE you!

  • Just want to say, from my point of view, it has never seemed to me that you are complaining or grumbling. They are very interesting stories. You have no reason to apologize, and keep doing what you are doing.

  • Peter I agree with many of the viewers. You are fantastic and it is lovely seeing you online regular. My dad passed away a few years ago - wish I had really listened to all his stories more:)

    Thank you

    Thea

  • Apology accepted, dont let it happen again ok? No more excuses.

  • Hey what a treat. Your well up on computers for an elderly gentleman.

  • Apology accepted.

  • I love how British people say process. Like "pro" at some type of game or sport. Great Video!

  • YOU ARE AN INSPERATION ;o)

When you come across negativity go to you tube LONG BEACHIN WITH MO

    hugs to all..

  • I love these stories. You are so with it because you know more stuff about computers than I do and I have grown up with them and always had one.

  • Wrinklies and crinklies lolz

    love you GP

    Ineke

  • You're videos are awesome.I'm Your biggest fan.

  • I never thought you were grumbling! That person who said that was dumb. You're videos are awesome.

  • hey geriatric1927 aka peter (I think) I'm 15 and just wanted to say you are the coolest old man I've met (sort of :\" anyways I just wanted to say your video logs are great and that you should never stop and don't listen to people trying to discourage you.

  • the critic in your town can't have heard manhy of your videos, as you most certainly do not grumble a great deal. Please don't take one persons ill informed comments to heart. Take on board the comments of the masses, not the odd naysayer. Didn't it occur to the guy that HE has grumbling at you ? :)

  • Don't listen to your neibhour or second guess what you are doing. Keep up the good work!

  • For any newbie watching geriatric1927, he relates to us his history because we have asked him to... time and again, and we will continue to ask him to share his past with us. Peter, did you say a "Wrinkly & Krinkly" town? I love it. Am adding to my list of descriptive phrases.

  • Peter ,I enjoy your story's,I don't think your grumpy.I think your just being your self and that's what I like about your blog's.please keep them up.

  • I've never thought you were grump - you rule

  • I love seeing new videos from you when I log onto youtube, Peter! :)

  • You make your childhood sound magical. I think kids today have no comprehension of being able to run free and do half of the things that you have had the chance to do. I think that the person that said those things has a wharped perception.

  • Please carry on "blogging away" :)

  • I never though you were grumbling in your other videos

  • Where did you go?

  • does he no how to use a computer or do people do it for him

  • No apologies are needed. Everything you have done has been great.

  • a) we don't think you're a grump; b) we love that you had a great time growing up - it's what made your life so interesting to listen to c) Yes, you're quite progressive. The guy that complained has NO clue why we love you Peter. Tell him to stick it up somewhere where the sun don't shine.

  • You do not come across as a grump Peter.

You live as though there is a tomorrow and we are the beneficiaries of your enterprise.

    Keep it up.

  • I think the guy is just jealous....

  • I haven't heard any moaning or groaning. All I've heard is interesting stories of your life and times. Most people don't hear this stuff from their own families anymore.

  • An awesome collection of videos.

Its taken me a while to get around to watching because i was moderatly cynical of the hype recieved in the UK but it really is inspirational, informative and entertaining.

    Congratulations.

  • Thanks for your videos, please don't apologize to your YouTube fans! When you were talking about your computer, you reminded me of my grandfather who I would guess would be a lot like you right now if he was with us, sharing stories on a new form of entertainment and talking about his computers.

Also, I like what you said about living in the present. Made me realize it's OK to think about and talk about the past, but you always live in the present. Thanks for that.

  • Your videos are fantastic Peter. Don't worry about what the man in town said, he sounds like he's just a grumpy old man and probably jealous of your technical abilities and success. Keep up the good work!

  • You have nothing to apologise for at all, they think it's a load of old rubbish, we don't, we love all your blogs mate, and your stories are great too, hope there's more if you have the time

  • Young is a state of mind.

  • Thank you. I can hear you, now.

  • No need for apology. We could hear it quite well, and were so glad we could. You are an inspiration!

  • I doubt that guy got beyond your first video where you said you wanted to grump a little. Honestly? I'd love to hear more of your grumps but there haven't been any. I love anything you put out (and it's OK to grump sometimes!!!)

  • Bah! That man who said you were moaning and groaning is a fine example of what we call a "grumpy old man". Your videos rock my socks and i hope you make them forever :-D Dont apologise at all, your videos are the best in the universe.

  • i don't follow your adventures like some people do, but i am proud of you for making it this far and am glad that you did not quit.

  • I'm watching all your videos and I'm very impressed of your life. So I send many greetings from Austria to you and hope to see much more of your videos.

  • OMG I love you! Dont apoligise! You are such a interesting person and I love waching your videos. Keep it up youtube would not be the same with out you!

    I LOVE YOU!

    -777cowgirl-

  • Keep it up, Grandpa!! We love you! ^_^

    Love,

    Shlie

  • Peter, you are the same age as my dad.I love his stories,as much as yours. His philosophy is,"No one controls me except me." Don't let the people who WON'T get a life run yours. They're getting a thrill right now from your response. You have many people who are watching your videos around the world, and enjoy your stories, and ask you for more.Don't waste one more minute of your time addressing people who get off on insulting you.Keep going, I love listening to you. Take care always.BK

  • Hi Peter. I looked you up when I heard about you in the media... I remember reading some comment about 'grumbling and griping'. I was surprised when checking out the videos at how un-grumpy and affirmative you seemed. I've since come to be a regular visitor, watching all your videos... I don't remember getting bored by them at any point (including the hour-long stories!) Your videos hold my attention throughout... which is something that real grumbling videos can never do!

  • Peter - see how many people love and encourage you? I find you to be an inspiration in my life - 53 really is pretty young and I better "get with it" so I can "get it" like you do. You have made me realize even with all the bad news - there are many many lovely people in this world. xoxoxo

  • Great video, look forward to the next.

  • That guy who said what he said to you had no idea what he was talking about. He needs to watch a couple of your videos in full.

  • No apologies needed. I've always enjoyed your videos and will continue to do so. By the why, 'YouTube' was featured in the latest issue of "Which Computing?" (a UK magazine) and you were featured as a good example of why people should visit the site

  • I love your vidoes. :) So interesting.

  • For some reason YOUTUBE says 'adding post' when it actually doesn't. Hope this works. This guy obviously hasn't watched your vids at all. He's heard a few seconds of it and not listened to any of it. You don't complain, infact the opposite. I remember my late grandad telling me that people made the most out of a bad situation, your comments are not depressing at all.

  • No apologies needed. I find you fascinating and think you're wonderful for being one who isn't afraid to journal on the internet. My mother is younger than you and she's never used the internet by herself. Count yourself cool that you're not afraid to venture into the unknown.

  • Keep it up peter =) really enjoy your blogs! You reming me of my great aunt who i dont see very much who loves to talk about her past and stories, she'd love to share her stories to the world and as shes 97 she has alot to do so but unfortunately cant as she cant use a computer/doesnt have access so keep them coming as its great you can bring your knowledge/past to everyone.

any more stories to come or back to normal blogs?

  • Hi Peter, you don't come accross as a grumpy whinging old geezer at all :o)

  • I don't think you are complaining AT ALL!!! Your stories about your life are very interesting and informative. It is always healthy to learn from the past and at the same time always look foward - and you do JUST that! You are a model of how to live - always learning; going foward but never forgetting what the past has given you. KEEP IT UP - you are great!

  • Hmmm I was never under the impression that you were..moaning or groaning. He shouldn't judge what you do by one(or how many he watched) videos...oh oh I also wanted to say that the shound on the part 2 (story) didn't bother me at all...I enjoyed the story VERY much

  • You just carry on the way you are!! Fascinating!!

  • I think you're cool. Simple as that.

  • no you are not being a grumpy old man, in fact you are being quite descriptive and interesting about times gone by and I find it very interesting.

    Keep it up,

    Maria.

  • well you are lucky, i am always going on about how terrorble the world is today. most young people i have met are not very nice at all. most of which happened whe i use to live in london. there are a few where i live now. they are just getting worse, yes peter, you are indeed very lucky.

  • You are not a grumpy old man...you're telling stories about your life as it was (which is VERY interesting!). Ignore those that haven't seen all of your videos, which of course I have. Your videos are very informative and at times quite comforting.

  • Another great video Peter. Glad the site is up and running again too. Look forward to chatting to you again soon.

    Greetings from Mark in Swindon

  • You dont seem to grumble or gripe in the least. You just tell us all about interesting stories about your childhood. Thats all i see it as.

  • Whats wrong with having a moan? Your tales of the past are very informative and amusing. I didn't get the impression you were unhappy quite the reverse so keep it up please, hearing your take on life today could also be interesting

  • Hi Peter, This is the third time Im trying to make a post but its not posting. I'll try once more. You are not a grumbler. You are a talented, adventurous soul. You don't buy into the nonsensical belief that you should somehow lose your curious nature and boyish charm just because you get older. Thats what makes you so enchanting. It's your sensitive artist side that grabs onto this one naysayer. Dont pay him any mind. He talks rubbish! We Love You! Peace, Patti pi in the U.S.

  • Hi Pete. I had a good laugh through most of #30. I could tell there was a slight twinkle in your eye from the older gentleman in your community who wondered what all the "fuss" was about many years ago. My mom was a young lady working during the war effort here in the States, and she always said the same thing: "Ah phooey, we had a GREAT time!" Life goes on...!

  • we all love you, you are clever enough to know the comments from some grumpy old guy differ from countless messages from people of all ages whom adore you

  • great videos peter

  • yeah who ever said that must of not been watching YOUR videos. haha, forget what that guy said. No apologies needed what so ever. Keep the good video's coming

  • Nah, your not a grunmpy old man. Your a cool old man.

  • Don't let anyone marginalize your stories or discourage you from going forth! Thank you.

  • this is the first video that I have watched of yours and I must say, I was moved! An authentic voice always has a way of doing that... You are an absolutely beautiful human being. Full of grace and wisdom and kindness. I only hope I am as evolved as you are when I am where you are.

  • you should watch more vids...he is a great story teller.:)

  • you really should watch the rest of his....ive been watching since mid/late august....he's one of the most interesting people ive ever come across

  • You have never grumbled and moan at all. You stores from your child hood are nice to listen to. As for the book type stories are also nice. For the sound trouble it was cool. The way that it sounded at that part put the setting sound in an open area.

  • Peter, Peter, Peter, You have never grumbled or moaned, and have always been a joy to be in your company. You have no need to apologise but being the gentleman you are ,you probably always will.

  • Dearest Sir - one thing I wanted to mention but keep forgetting...one way I know a good writer is when I want the story to continue. I want to know what happens to the characters after the story ends. Now THAT is good writing. I wanted to know more about both the boys in the Ma Rainey tale as well as more about Thelma and her family.

continued thanks for all your efforts.

    nienna from oregon usa

  • nienna, why do u talk to him like he was an infant, like he needs to be treated a special way? do u think he'll die if u dont write in the most noble way ever?

  • I agree with the majority of the other comments! Your stories are wonderful so please do not stop reading them to us. The man that said your were whining and grumbling sounds like a person who is not happy with his life and is jealous of you

  • Plz read more of your stories, i really like them

  • peter, i love your videos. you are graceful and wonderfully articulate. thank you & please keep making videos!

  • Your stories are wonderful!

    No need for apologies!

  • Oh - please tell more stories!

    They were great!!!

  • Hey Peter. Don't worry about the guy. You know how crusty old people can be. That's why you like hanging out with us anyway! ;)

  • Peter, years ago at school on a U.S. History course, our teacher declared that it's essential we learn the truth about the past, positive AND negative, because "history repeats itself". 30 years on, I've seen that is painfully true! The worthwhile lessons in life are culled from difficult experiences and how we learn to transform them into positive outcomes. PLEASE keep "moaning" and "grumbling"! We're learning so much from your generously shared views.

  • dont worry ducky ? lol

  • haha, i get it

  • Nice of you to explain your outlook on life but most of us already know from your stories what a wonderful life you have had thus far. I for one never took them as nagging and complaining. I love hearing about your life even if some of it was not picture perfect. I don't think many peoples are. Keep 'em coming that goes for the stories that you read as well.

  • Peter, it would take a negative person to interpret your stories as pessimistic! I think we all walk away from hearing your stories with a smile on our faces - they are so delightful! They are FAR cry from being 'grumbling' stories about hardships. I take them as they are - humanistic! Thank you so much for sharing, Peter!

  • Peter. You are a computer genius? Why didn't you tell us before?

  • I see it as jealousy with your neighbour making cruel comments about your video. The other day I got my Dad one of those set-top boxes and he treats it like it's his enemy, swearing at it and such-like! Thank God I don't have to listen to him as I don't live with my parents anymore. 100 miles away with my "beau" in Carlisle lol. I do visit, though ;-)Mum is my soulmate, more of a friend than a Mum.

  • Dear Peter, You need not worry about the opinion of others. You tell the stories that you want. I feel the person has confused living in the past with reflecting upon the past. You can't tell a story if you don't reflect upon the time now can you?

  • I really enjoyed your stories and listened to them to fall asleep. They were so soothing, please don't stop writing them or vlogging them. Ignore that person who is just trying to rain on your parade. I really look forward to all of your vids, so keem 'em coming!

  • how nice, intresting video

  • lovely person.

  • dont listen to that man when he knowns nothing of what you have done in your life , look at how many subcribers you have , that just shows how loved you are =]

  • your really amazing i always love your stories

  • you are a champion, the best youtuber around

  • That's exactly what we think.

  • Oh Peter, you should know that greatness is never appreciated on it's own turf! We love you and your stories, so carry on the way you've been doing and don't change a thing! Lots of love to you!

  • Awww, quit yer grumblin' ya old fart. <Smirk>... hehe. Anyway, you tell your neighbor if he picks on you again I'll fly over there and beat him up for you. :)

  • I have never thought you were a grumbler...even when you did geriatric grumbles and gripes....keep doing what you are doing....you are awesome Peter.

  • Peter give no regards to that man. We enjoy your work and stories. I have not seen any signs of grumbling and I have watched you from your begining here on You Tube. Listening to a Man of your age ramble off Tech Jargon is amazing. You are an inspiration to many Best of Luck Sir.

  • Peter, do whatever you feel moved to do - read your stories, talk about your life, however the spirit moves you. It's all fascinating and I'm delighted and thrilled you're here.

  • Hello Peter. Well, as you said, the person who spoke to you in the market knew nothing about what you're doing in this forum. So disregard what he had to say and keep in your mind all the people who enjoy listening to you. People can really spoil things, particularly when they just want to criticize. He sounds envious to me! Best regards from Boston.

  • You rock gramps (that is good). Keep up the videos!

  • Peter, you have possibly thousands of fans. Do you think we'd keep watching if we thought you were a grumbler? No.

Instead I view you as a once very ambitious young man that took 'life by the horns' and you are still that person today. Who else builds computers, youtubes, or let alone has email at your age? Just about every person I know your age would say, "World wide what? Quit talking crazy youngster." Or atleast thats what my Grandparents say.

  • You are the coolest person ever!

  • What a silly criticism, that you are a grumbler. Obviously untrue. I admire you for your stories and also your technical abilities in things like motorcycles, computers, and art. My dad is your age, and a very intelligent man, but I try to imagine him knowing his way around a computer in even a fairly basic way, and it is impossible. He can barely check e-mail. You have really kept sharp.

  • I really love your videos. No need to apologize for any of them! Please keep telling your war stories and such. It reminds me of my grandfathers who have passed on, one 6 months ago.

  • He's our YouTube grandfather.

  • I agree.

  • Hi Peter, I don't think that any of your friends here on YouTube think you are complaining. You seem like a very modern and interresting person. I think your willingness to grow and learn and your openess have made you popular with younger people. You don't talk down to them and they can relate to you. I think we all hope to have your attitude someday at your age. The man in the shop thought that you were complaining obviously didn't watch your videos.

  • It is odd how others perceive us.... Obviously anyone who has actually WATCHED your videos could never come away thinking that you "grumble".

  • You're not a complainer Peter. We know that. We check our computers every day to see if you posted a new story. That's what you are. You are a very gifted story-teller, and we like you just the way you are.. I know I say this a lot, but thanks Peter!

  • Keep the video's coming. They are so refreshing. None of them have been grumbly or bitter.

  • That "person" who came on to you while you were shopping in my opinion was rude! Obviously he doesnt understand what it's all about but to come up and say something like that was totally uncalled for and that is where manners come in to play. "If you dont have anything nice to say, then dont say anything at all .." He could quite possibly be the type of person who could only wish he could do it to! Nobody feels you have in anyway whined or complained and deep down that person knows it to :)

  • Peter --

I never thought you were complaining or that you didn't like your life. Life comes with good and bad points, and mentioning the bad doesn't mean that you are unhappy with the way things are. That man either was talking out his arse or simply misunderstood what you were saying.

  • You have nothing to apologize for because we are asking, nay, begging for your life stories and the history is wonderful to hear. That fellow knows nothing from just listening to one vlog. Keep up the excellent videos, excellent music too!

  • I once visited people in Basilton (all the way from Texa) and we walked to the mall to buy groceries. So I can just imagine you riding your bicycle to the grocery store and bank wherever you live! Cheers!

  • peter u are the coolest keep doin wut u do! YEA BOIII

  • Hi, Grandpa!

I've always thought your stories exhibited a wonderful sense of happiness, while being truthful and descriptive about the times you lived through. I especially enjoy hearing about various "escapades" you pulled. Hehehehe!

    I love you very much.

    Wendy

  • Peter -

Since you are clearly living in the present as you say (being a tech whiz and all) tell us a bit about current stuff too. Do you have a girlfriend? What kind of motorcycles did you sell? Just a scooter now, or something more too? Whatever strikes your fancy!

    Peter

  • I never thought for a second that you were complaining. I really enjoy your remembrances of the past. I don't date back to the war, but that time in history really fascinates me. Thank you so much for sharing it with us You Tubers. I do hope you will continue.

  • your the man! and not someting boring about the wartime.. but life. that is sooo good to lisen and see. not manny build their ovn computer...at 79! that just grat.

  • i love your stories peter.. i think he's full of rubbish!

  • We Love listening to you, the sound wasn't a problem - please keep going! Wrinklies and Krinklies? Love it! Pat from Colorado

  • Peter,

That person who said that to you did not know anything about your videos. Your not grumbling about anything, instead your sharing your wisdom with us about life. Please dont let him get you down

    Take care,

    TJ

  • I love listening to your voice :D and your stories are good to hear because I love hearing about history. I'm allways watching the history channel.

  • Apologies 100% unnecessary. "Moaning and groaning"??? Nonsense! Sharing your insights is more like it. Keep up the good work!

  • god stories

  • wooaa happy hallowen

  • Video blogging is good theropy :D and its cheaper than a srink.

  • Telling isn't it?: Someone who hasn't seen your videos criticizing you for whining about your life. Couldn't be further from the truth. You're helping all who watch to understand that any life is too rich to be summed up in a few words. I love your assertion that you were "lucky" to have associated with people who were young in spirit. As if you hadn't chosen to work in a field that assured you those kinds of associations!

None of us controls our lives, but we do guide them somewhat, don't we?

  • Remember your first Vid..."Geriatric Gripes and Grumbles"? I think he saw that one and maybe one or two others and just put it togather wrong. For those of us who have watched you all along, please continue. 'WE' enjoy it or we would not be watching!!

    Good Luck Peter,

    Watcher2554

  • I agree with a lot of others here.. dont worry about the naysayers! I think its so wonderful that you're sharing your life with us here.. I love hearing about the good old days and all the incredible things that have gone on in your life. You are wonderful, please keep posting. I have a lot to catch up on.. but please know your work is appreciated and respected.

    much love

    CZ

  • I hope you will reconsider and will read us more of your stories..Maybe you can designate by title which ones are blogs and which are stories for those that want it distinguished..

  • Oh for Pete's sake! You are not moaning and groaning...you are regaling us with wonderful stories from the past. Keep them coming Peter! We love it.

  • I agree with Momotaro. Your stories are very enlighting bits of history and have never come close to resembling anything near "moaning or groaning". Please don't take one uninformed opinion to heart.

  • You're most clued up that I though :o

GeForce 6800's are very good for the price, just so you know...

  • DrFrag, He doesn't need any top end gaming card like that (unless he does play games)... Just a real low-mid range card is fine for speeding up 2d graphics and video...

What he probably needs more is a couple 500GB Hard Drives to store all these long videos he has been doing lately.. LOL

  • He might not game, but it leaves open the opportunity to do some 3D work.

Good call on the HDDs though :P

  • Wow you build your own computers too? Is there anything You CANT do?

  • Peter,

You've been nothing but positive about you childhood. Look at your numbers, you're doing fine. Keep it up.

  • Don't worry about quality or the person you talk about, we know how you carry out your blogging, it is a great reflective for everyone. I think we all can relate in some way but you just have the best talent. People can just be unhappy with everything. So don't let them get to you cause you're great!

  • I have never once heard you moan and groan about how hard you had it. You've told wonderful stories and I along with others enjoy them very much. It allows us to get a vicarious view into the past, which I can't express to you how much I appreciate. People that don't want to hear you don't have to tune into your channel. If they do, that is THIER problem, not yours. As always, I look forward to hearing more!

  • I have never thought that you complained. You were just telling it like it was. I enjoy hearing about your stories because it WAS a different time than now. Some ways better some not.

  • how many telling its are there gonan be omg

  • You keep it up. This is a very valuable Forumn for young folks as well as those your own age to compare, reflect, learn and share your memories. This is how people lived in the past and carried on their legacy, by telling stories. I think it is Grand! That old booger ought to try it... mybe he can learn something too!

  • Peter..do not worry about the naysayers..they are just a bunch of unhappy and miserable people who are jealous of your fame. You cant please everyone..you know that by now. Just keep the videos coming and realise that for every one that is negative..you have 100000 that enjoy your vids.

  • Jesus was not seen by the people where he grew up as anyone special. Speaking for myself I would hate to be living near people I grew up with, if I did i would be incarcerated.LOL I like the things you talk about and your way. You have a good way about you.
