Hi all. I'm just wondering, but is this really an issue of taking a liberal or conservative approach to Catholicism? Isn't the ban on women priests a doctrinal teaching and therefore cannot be changed?
resurrected Christ. Jesus left his church with no priests at all. If you argue that it is tradition and tradition cannot be changed then let me point out the ruling on celibacy. Peter was not celibate. The rule that priests must be celibate did not come around until hundreds of years after Jesus. Same with Papal infallibility. In fact there is more support for women priests than not given as I said what is said at the end of Romans.
None of what you say makes any sense at all. Priests did not exist at the time of Jesus. In fact if you read the letters of Paul there are women deacons, apostle and disciples. Women led the early church. Jesus did not call Saint Peter a priest. He said on this rock I build my church. Nothing to do with his gender. And I am not talking about Gnosticism or any of that. Jesus had women followers. In fact it was women who stayed with him while he was on the cross and women who first say the
Women wanting to be part of the Catholic leadership? This is about as stupid and insane as Muslim women wanting to wear veils in France. Ever think of Altogether GTFO of this depraved form of Christiainity altogether? Or becoming an atheist? You're all under stockholm syndrome.
@madmanmantra - you have an excellent point too - it is a form of trying to fight the system from within the system, of civil disobedience, similar to the civil rights movement. It looks as though nothing is world is granted unless fought for, using the same system peacefully can sometimes work if souls have courage/are brave enough.
Jesus said, “Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’” 18 Mary Magdalene went to the disciples with the news: “I have seen the Lord!” And she told them that he had said these things to her. John 20: 1-18
Jesus appeared to a woman and sent her out as his messenger of his Ascension. She was his first Apostle after his death.
First, it is a mistake to equate the Roman Catholic church with all of Catholicism. There are other smaller, but equally valid branches of Catholcisim. The religion and the institution are not the same thing, and the institution has shown itself flawed repeatedly through history. There is no reason to believe it is objectively right about this. It is only able to make it's own rules, not to determine what is 'true'.
If God wanted to, he could have sent Jesus in the year 2000 but he did not. He chose to send Jesus to the world 2000 years ago.
The Church was established 2000 years ago by Jesus. It was not a mistake. God chose the time. God chose the culture. God chose the people. Jesus did not leave us His Church with women priests. He left us with Saint Peter and his successors to lead us and for us to obey. We can not change what Jesus gave us just because we "feel" like it!
@GabrielsGrace Jesus did not come to establish a new church. He was a Jewish man trying to teach people about the nature of God; that it is less about piety and more about how one lives in relation to the "other"... remember his healing ministry and how much time he spent with women? He treated women as equals, not as inferiors. This was a scandal in his time.

Romans 16:1: I commend to you our sister Phoebe a deacon of the church
Now some say there are no women apostles but
Romans 16:7: Greet Andronicus and Junia [female], my relatives who were in prison with me; they are prominent among the apostles
I can keep going on and on.

@GabrielsGrace Galatians 3:28: There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
You would pervert one of the strongest messages in the Bible just to satisfy your misogyny? Disgusting.

Mary was a woman priest. The Gospel of Mary is as legitimate as any other Biblical book.
