Lithium polymer batteries would work till the last drop without losing performance. Plus brushless motors have way better lower end torque than gassers. Does make sense. But in along endurance race, electric wouldn't stand a chance

@icanp00nyou I think the biggest super pocket bike is actually 110cc dude. Other companys make like 250cc dirt bikes, but i might be wrong, if theres 125cc pocket bikes, then i need to get one cause the 50cc is just not doing it at all.

That is a karting track in Fremont, CA. They used to run pocketbike & scooter races a few years ago. There are actually TWO electric race bikes in this vid. I raced the black #58 (with the headlight) and we placed first and second. I was running a 48V@20Ah SLA pack, and I think Dave was running the same setup ..gassers never heard what hit em.

gassers take like a minute or two to get filled up but it takes super electrics like HOURS to get charged... and the power they get is from the same basic thing... fossil fuels!! you greenies have your own opinions but i believe its just a cycle in the earth to have it be warmer.... remember the ice age???? its just a million year cycle so im gonna pollute the air i dont care it can all float out of the hole in the ozone layer

Yeah... I would have to agree with you there, and the fact that they are phasing out 2-strokes, the racing industry has changed... you cant buy big bore 2 strokes new anymore.... I love 4 strokes for their smooth power delivery, I deliver pizzas on a 4t 50cc but still when it comes to racing, fuck the greenies!

Look at the date of the video. At that time there were only Cateyes and X1's. Now they have gas pocketbikes with 4 strokes and gears boxes. But then again if we were to build another Electric Pocketbike and with all the new battery technology and brushless motors We'd still blow the gassers away. Look at RC racing and the brushless motors and Lithium battery setups. Those things will hit 100mph.

Dude, This vid was taking years ago when there werent any 4 stroke 125's. Only Cags and Polinis. This Electric Pocketbike was built well before its time so it was was very adavanced. Now even with your 125 4 strokes Electrics have come a long way also. Just check out the Electric Tesla Or Tango Roadster....

You have to build them. We bought some gas versions and trashed the gas motors. Added an Etek 15hp Electric Motor, Alltrax 300amp controller and 4 12v16ah batteries. They dont make any Electric pocket bikes that have decent speed

At the time he was using heavy SLA batteries but now Lithiums are coming out which are much lighter. Sometimes quiet is good specially when cops are around

Electric could easily beat gassers on this track. If it was 1/4 drag, electric would get smoked when the gasser hits the pipe.

Dude these Electric Pocket bikes could top out at 60+ mph. My brother had his geared for only 40mph at this event so he could get the hole shot and if you watch he defenitely got the hole shot. $150 pocket bike is a piece of crap. You get what you paid for. His set cost about $1200 all together and it sure didnt suck. Even all the gassers were all hyped about the electrics.

Because it started out as just a hobby racing other electrics. Then we found out about local gas stand-up and pocketbike racing.

cool vid. starting procedure is a bit odd though. think that sucks is the e-bikes shit out after a long time. ive had to pit for my "B" bike during an enduro race this year. we can get a strong lead ahead of the gassers but its hard to hold that lead.

Yah the only thing holding the Electrics back is the range. Now with Lithium batteries you can get longer run times with a lighter bike since Lithium batteries are so much lighter than heavy Lead Acid. The down side is the Lithium Batts are still real expensive. We are now looking into the Milwaukee V28 Power tool batteries.

Well I've been running a 1500wt hub motor in a 26" rim Mt. bike for a while now on 2s3p (56v9ah) with a top speed of 42mph. Range if kept in the 20-30mph is around 12-15 miles. The Batts have been running great so far.

The two in front were Electrics. They both topped out around 40-50mph but the track was real twisty with lots of turns. The main straight was on the left of the video so you see not much time to open her up. This video was taken before all the geared 110-125cc's were out. They were mostly all X1's. The only gassers at the time to give them a run were the Polini's......

This track had a lot of twists and turns and thats why the Electrics had the advantage. At the time of this race the only SUper pocket bikes that were out were the Cateyes and the X3's. None of the larger gassers with gears were out yet. So since you weren't there you don't know what you're talking about....The onlyones that could beat the Electrics were the Polini's.
