I remember MAHOGANY played at the local movie palace in our neighborhood, Loew's Kings in Brooklyn NY. Somehow very fitting, a grand glamorous lady like Ms.Ross singing this beautiful and soaring song seen and heard in gigantic ornate movie palace with chandeliers , statues, etc
@MVR326 I once saw a horror flick at the Loewe's on 34th Street in Manhattan... they sure aren't making theaters ornate like the one you' re describing in Brooklyn any more. It sounds like it was a beautiful theater.
@SH000FLY I remember the one on 34th street, and the Kings was just amazing..reopening in 2014 as an entertainment center. LADY SINGS THE BLUES also played there. They also don't make too many people like Ms.Ross anymore either, complete with class, beauty, and talent.
@MVR326 It would be so great for you, if Ms. Ross would sing at the entertainment center when it opens. You are right, they are two of a kind with class beauty and talent.
Gerry Goffin is amazing , he wrote this..., Whitney Houston "saving all my love for you" Aretha Franklin " you make me feel like a natural woman " ...smh i would give credit to his co-writers but you can tell he wrote these lyrics from the depths of his mind. they sound like ordinary love songs but you gotta pay attention.
@LovergirlBeautifull there's another song that says, "if you're going through hell, keep on going" so the next question THIS song asks is, do you like the things that life is showing you?
This was the main song we sung at graduation, McCall Elementary School, 1985... I always feel sad hearing this song 'cause some of the best days of my life were spent there... Perhaps I should feel even sadder knowing that I haven't lived up to my full potential since leaving that school... Regardless, the song is a classic and has much sentimental value. Thanks for posting.
I ♥ this song, because it helped me when I came to a fork in my road of "Your life and No Longer an Option." It speaks to that brilliant article as well (How to Land Your Kids in Therapy). We need more Alexander and the Terrible Horrible No Good Very Bad Day :D P.S. the anecdote to narcissism IS Christianity.
I could swear I've heard Barbra Streisand sing this song, and I was looking for it, because it was so awful. Why Streisand is so highly regarded, I will never understand.
@jurisd0ct0r My ears are too sensitive for a lot of clanging and banging that passes for music these days, although new ears enjoy those beats maybe they'll come around to hear an oldie or two ;)
@SH000FLY I'm someone who primarily loves punk, heavy metal, industrial and other loud clanging and banging that passes for music these days... I also love oldies, classical and any piece of music that can move me in one way or another (even if it's not clanging and banging). :P
That said, Diana Ross has a gorgeous voice and many of her songs, whether with the Supremes or solo, are just classic. Unfortunately, none of the pop "divas" within the past few decades can hold a candle to her.
@xRealite Diana Ross was born on March 26, 1944, so that makes her now the age of 66. She began performing in her early teens and the Supremes were formed in 1959, when she was 15. She went solo in 1970, at the age of 26. I find her to be accomplished and talented and beautiful (in her soul too), and no amount of personal strife or trash talk about her reduces her in any way, in my estimation. She is one of the greatest singers of all time.
@SH000FLY She is one of my father's all time favorites... My father died this year at age of 66... He sure had good taste. Because I have gotten to love her songs. Singers nowadays are just not like this anymore. She is wonderfull!!
@Channel4AllCHANNELS1 Omg,me too Nick, thank u sooo much for sharing, one of my faves of all time!! And the movie waz just az beautiful, still one of the BEST films ever made!!!;D Thank u again hun,ur a sweetie, muuuaaaaah!!!;D~Lady T;D
@Cosmictalk not sure if they should ever re-make that movie. I'd class it as a B- movie, but her singing as always carried it off. But yes, Erykah could do it!
@SH000FLY forget trying to re-make this movie... instead make a sequel of what happened to them 30 yrs later. billy dee a US senator and diana a international fashion success... they get involved in some kind of international espionage with lots of drama and they now have hot grown children.
Simply forever. She is the principal and the biggest love of MICHAEL JACKSON in him heart. Believe in this, friends. Thank you, Diana. We love you forever.
