I had my female betta in a tank like that, but I had to change the tank to a smaller tank. and she got really sad so I put her back in the large tank.

The female has an ovipositor (egg tube) and usually has shorter fins and you may see breeding stripes on her abdomen. I have a link with pics for you but it won't let me post it. If you go to google images and type in female Betta,ovipositor you can see pics of it.

That is a female, not a male. I've had two females in the past with longer fins just like this gal. She's gorgeous with an equally gorgeous tank!

This is a long tail female betta, it's body is small and if you look at a short tail male betta, his body is fat from the head to the back of the body or watever u want to call it. female betta's also flare their gills.

In my opinion, that betta fish appears to be a male. The males have much longer fins and are less colorful. A good way to tell for sure is to hold a mirror in front of him/her. If the fish flares its gills, it is a male betta.

Definate female. Its a female version of the Royal blue veiltail or could be turquoise veiltail. Not use about ovipissitor but - fish don't have that do they?

What a beautiful female Betta! So nice to see someone keeping a female Betta ALONE in a nice large tank without other females there to harrass each other. Too bad others couldn't understand how much better it is for them to be alone! They are SO much healthier and happier when they are alone. The tank looks really nice too. Great job decorating it!

It's a 6 gallon Eclipse and the filter and bio wheel are in the hood.

I change 25-30% of the water with a 25% gravel siphoning weekly. :)
