  • Gosh, I wish I could sing this like Ainsley. The colaratura is other-worldly!

  • Who is the soprano? She and John work so well together in this. John Mark is a master of coloatura. I liked baroque but now I am in love with it.

  • @MotherWaggy I'm pretty sure that's Rosemary Joshua.

  • @Firestarjude Yep.

  • why do you hate the rubato? whats wrong with it?

  • Isn't that the very lovely Rosemary Joshua singing Semele and slinking around the stage?

  • Yes.

  • Phenomenal singing by Mr. Ainsley. Bravo.

  • The most beautful tenor voice

  • LOL:}

  • this man's voice is awesome

  • I cannot find ANY recording of Mr. Ainsley singing "Semele." Frustrating!

  • Have you tried the Hyperion Label?

  • Is this Covent Garden?

  • I think this is ENO

  • his Masters Voice !!!

  • he amuses us with his speed!!! (heh)

  • The best baroque tenor ever!

  • Damn!

  • incredible coloratura!!!!

  • BRAVISSIMO!

  • he's excellent in monterverdi, also.

his orpheo seems pretty influenced by nigel rogers', but i find ainsley's voice more beautiful.

  • I would be lying if i said that i have heard a lot of tenor coloratura, but still, i've never heard a man sing coloratura this fast and steady

  • I agree and I have heard a lot of tenor coloratura :)

  • never seems to be enough time to finish the soap operas ot the super rich in a setting like this - Tune in tomorrow when John Mark Ainsley continues to win over his beloved...

    budwoodjr

What I say is a bunch of nonesense so please don't right me and tell me to get a life...

  • what does this have to do with the video playing?

  • your mom

  • John Mark Ainsley is all! Wonderful, beauty.

  • he has the most beautiful tenor voice i've ever heard

  • Thank God!!! John Mark Ainsley videos...now youtube can truly do some good. One of my all time favorite tenors. One of my favorite all time performances of his is from the broadway score "Brigadoon"..."Come to Me,Bend to Me" is an all time gem because of this man

  • Marvellous!!

  • Indeed, I need to go cry and then practice my fioritura more.

  • great coloratura...he is why god made tenors.

  • any chance of posting him singing 'Where'er you Walk'?, that would be wonderful 'bigpinkypig'.

  • I lost the complete video in a computer crash. I cover my head with ashes.

  • Ditto to all your comments! Also, I met him last September and he was a lovely guy. He even helped me obtain some unpublished songs of Herbert Howells which he sang on a recording produced by Hyperion.

  • Ah! My Hero! John Mark Ainsley! I would say that he is the modern version of John Beard! He's a great Handelian tenor. Handel would have made more composition for him if he's only alive at this time that is. Thanks for sharing this.

  • terrific - love JM Ainsley

  • I met his musical talent listening a cd of MOzart Don GIovanni... wow... he is so great :D

  • I completely agree with all the comments on here - John Mark Ainsley has one of the most beautiful voices ever in the classical music genre. And he's not a bad actor either. :D

  • John Mark Ainsley is a real example of a good singer. He´s wonderful. He´s complete. I like him.

  • I will agree that John Mark Ainsley is a wonderful tenor. He usually performs on oratorio concerts and few on operas. I would recommend to listen to him when he sing the wonder Handel Aria "Waft her, angels through the skies" from the oratorio Jephtha.

  • couldn't agree with you more!!

  • This is a perfect example of the great REAL talents that are going unnoticed in hands of the media and record companies. Thanks for the clip, post more!

  • He is very well represented on recordings and we are, after all, watching a video of him. Maybe there's a legimate reason for why he isn't more in the public eye. I suspect it's because his repertoire doesn't capture the imagination of the Bocelli-loving public as much as if he sang "Con te partiro."

  • You are 100% right!!!

  • Such a fantastice talent. Excelent.
