  • In 1982, following the success of Sesame Street, an organization of Ministers approached Muppets' creator Jim Henson about the idea of doing a Christian-Themed children's tv show, going so far as to make rudimentary puppets of Christ and St Peter. Henson said he'd consider it, but the idea was ultimately rejected. In 1983 the Henson-produced Fraggle Rock, a show that focused on a group of Demons living in the 1st circle of Hell, debuted. Later that year Henson was diagnosed with terminal cancer.
