no it is not the glorification, its the exact opposite. its contardictory and written by the perspective of the common man. just because mark is saying that its so easy to be a rock star doesnt mean it is (for him at least). hes making fun of the excessive lifestyle in the 80s, and also poking fun at untalented artists like pop and hair metal that are only in it for the money. knopfler is extremely anti-industry and doesnt care about money. he plays for the thrill, not the fame.

Supposedly mark was watching film clips when the delivery guy walked past making comments about what was happening on screen. The chorus and the line "whats that? hawaiian noises" are what the guy said verbatim
