  • he's such a gentleman for remembering the linesmen and security people!!! :) You don't hear that in a lot of victory speeches. Marat's such a great guy.

  • 1:36 i love that he thanks the Hewitt camp haha

  • safin is the man.much rather have had him dominate then federer.

  • yes he's hilarious

  • The Last of the true tennis characters

  • great speech ! love you safin :))))

  • They always MUST thank the sponsors, big banks and corporations. This is of course BS. These corporations have got NOTHING to do with tennis, which they are using, as they use everything else, brainwashing us with the reality of a world dominated by them, in which we CONSTANTLY have to thank them for their crimes.

Without them the tournament couldn't take place?!!? Well why the hell not? Why do we hear this all the time?

It's not like tennis and the ATP don't make shitloads of money, is it?

  • @suddenlyitsobvious Actually GS are ITF events and yes corporate spoonsorship is needed .Where do you think they get millions to improve facilities and give away prize money.Of course Tv viewership and audience are important but so is corporate sponsorship and thats why USA is so successful in sports. In case of china government provides everything.

'.Where do you think they get millions to improve facilities and give away prize money.'

The ITF states sponsorship, competition and television income combined represent about 80% of its income. The ITF can obviously be conceived of as a rather large and successful business with numerous financial options and I maintain it's completely ridiculous to have tennis players publicly thank sponsors after each victory, even if YOU find this perfectly normal.

What this really corresponds to is an unrelenting, concerted effort of impressing the public -us- with the increasingly absolute dominance of big corporations over every single facet of life and the ridiculous proportions this process is taking easily transcend a 'balance-sheet' picture, as you are suggesting, and rather hint at a more and more blatant fascist organization of society.

I think it's silly to suggest the only alternative is government funding.

  • I am happy he was deservedly world no.1 and won two grand slams. Miss your fun and miss u Marat.

  • I respect him )) such a person!! such a real man))

  • what did the man yell at 1:53?

Good job parents, coach, girlfriend... LOL

Thanks all of you to come here, to support me to support the players. Thank you even though half of ...hm... 80 - 90% ... hm... who were late tonight... ROFL

    I love Marat so much

  • @michaelowen8

Can't quite catch it all, but he said something about "Home and Away" (the Aussie soap Lleyton's wife Bec Cartwright used to star in).

  • @michaelowen8 : i think he meant to say 90% were with Lleyton tonight. not late tonight lol no one would be late for the AO with lleyton in it

  • @michaelowen8 : i think he meant to say 90% were with Lleyton tonight. not late tonight lol no one would be late for the AO with lleyton in it

  • I'm Australian and Safin has always been my favourite player, I was going for him in this game.

  • Can you upload Lleyton's speech????

  • I still remember this match and speech. My family and I were all rooting for Safin in this one :)

  • Safin deserved a lot more. After putting in the hard yards coming back from a serious wrist injury in 2003, he was destined for success, but right after he won this, he got another injury, to his knee and was never the same. It's a real shame, because with Lundgren as his coach, starting in 2004, he was gaining massive momentum. He should have been THE guy to challenge Federer and Nadal in years to come.

  • bahahaha thats why i love the guy. his unpreparedness for speeches, his just random hit-me sort of personality. so good. so human. so epic.

  • He knew how to make people love him :)

  • Lol he really took his time :) Nice speech

  • What a top, top man. Would love it if he came out of retirement.

  • cool outfit

  • I loved that speech. Still remember it :)

  • hewitts girlfriend is damn hot!

  • @jasongardener too bad shes a gold digger.

  • He's simply the greatest!

  • I really love him. When is met him he was so kind and cute i'll never forget him..(L)

  • marat and all the other internationals is the reason why australia should say YES to multiculturalism.

a bogan stands no chance against marat. for one, marat speaks at the least, 3 languages!!!

  • god i love him.. i wish he was still playing i remember crying in this match and the federer game so tense and close to tears lmao

  • What's the stuff he says about Lleyton's box?

  • he's the best man and the best man what I ever met in my life. and anything what will be happen in your life I hope you'll be same Marat. "I'm alright?" You'll be forever the most charismatic tennis player. I love you.

  • Nobody has the charisma that Marat exuded on court! I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm a Roger fan through and through, but Marat was AWESOME.

  • surely you're allowed to like more than one player! <3

  • man is he gonna be missed or what??

    such a legand!

  • Marat = pure entertainment !!!

  • until next year he says, :-( he couldn't make it and soon after his career was ruined with a knee injury, such a shame.

  • can you give me please this speech written with english I went to traduct it in french to understand wath marat said. thanck you!

  • Hi, I just sent you a message with a transcription of Marat's speech!

  • please can u give me the translation ?

  • Check your inbox!

  • im glad that after 2 lossed in finals he managed to win the AO :)

  • Aw I really love Marat even though he can get a tad heated on court! He's so funny!

He's losing to Federer right now though! :(

    Hope he doesn't retire!

  • @brokeyankey i like the heated part as much as the speeches and talking part for marat

one of the true characters of the sport

  • why did people boo when he congratulated lleyton?

  • They thought he was being sarcastic because he said "First of all congratulations Lleyton, you had a great start this year", after beating him in the centenary final in front of a home crowd. Marat was actually being totally sincere in his congrats, which is why, after realising his mistake, he immediately apologised.

  • @PagodaGarden

He is smart enough)))) and i think he did`t mean to bother Lleyton!!!)

  • He is smart enough)))) and i think he did`t mean to bother Lleyton!!!)

  • LOL watch out Home & Away !!

  • I did not know Safin is such a humorous guy!!!

  • He's always joking around.

  • wow, i never realized he was so very humorous.

  • he is funny!

  • Safin the best!! thumbs up for him!

  • lets just hope for safin he can start playing better again

  • lets hope it for both of them...tennis really needs some new big players besides federer, rafa, and djokovic!
