@oxacillin ir it could be because of the fuel that the car can't combust, and throws out into the exhaust system, and get's ignited by the explosions in the combustion chamber, and says BAM :) just sayin.
Cars with the original exhaust system, with kat and no after market muffler, don't say bang, since the explosions get's 'killed' before it reaches the end of the pipes :-)
nice, get a paint job, some rims(if u can put ae86 spindles great) and ur set to go oh and a nice quiet oem muffler...i got one like like u and i love her
trust me ppl i know every nut and bolt on my gt. the engines are as follows.
2-se: good on gas but only 97 hp.
3s-fe: higher hp like 135 or so but not the best.
3sge: non turbo version something like 150-170 hp
3s-gte: the big man himself. something like 180-190 hp turbo.
3s-gte "beams" rare and valuable. never seen one in person but they're valve cover is red. dont know much abut them but its rumored to have upwards of 250 hp.
the 3sfe came with 115 hp stock and the 3sge came with 135. the only difference between the two is the cams and the tvis intake manifold. both were 2.0L dohc 16valve.
I own an st162, GT-S. It has the original 3s-ge engine, about 135 hp. The 3s-fe comes in lesser GT model, and only gets about 115 hp. Both engines are the same size, one is tuned for economy, the other for performance. This is for North American gen 4 Celicas, anyway. The 3s-ge makes a beautiful sound, nice vibration, and sporty feel. In reality 0-60mph in 8.6 sec is kinda lame now-a-days... but it still sounds nice
3sfe did exist. id know i have one :) its just a weaker version of the ge and gte, however it provides higher horsepower at lower rpm's. how you can tell is look at the intake system. does it say efi or t-vis? t-vis is toyota variable intake system which is a ge or gte.
T-VIS and EFI are basically the same thing. T-VIS is just the proprietary name that Toyota used for electronic fuel injection in 1987 models. I noticed that 1989 models just say EFI but the intake system is essentially identical. You can tell if your engine is 3sfe or ge by looking at the stickers on the car, under the hood, on the engine itself. Mine says 3S-GE on the timing belt and all over...
@SnugglePuma uhh no.....tvis are butterfly valves in the intake runners that only the gts model's with the 3sge engine came with...they provide low end torque and at high rpms they open for top end power...its not efi...
you know... i like the looks of the ST165 celica's... kind of like a smoother AE86. But jesus man! atleast be tasteful about it. get a reasonable exhaust system, not too loud, not too flashy. get a damn paint job. don't act like an idiot with the car.
You're kidding right? That car sounds like a piece of cr@p. Fix the exhaust leak so it stops backfiring. And put a muffler on it. All it sounds like is you are running it with little exhaust. I'm guessing you are a highschool kid based on the fact that you thinks that is cool....typical.
how do u make it pop like dat

Those are missfires. The car is probably just a bit out of timing. Not the best thing in the world for an engine
