  • Nice job man, greets from the Pure Symbol Boys

  • Awesome songs

  • Harry Manx is great, and from BC!

  • whats that device he uses to raise the strings?

  • @mafew129 I think it's just a special slide guitar capo, don't think it's raising the strings at all (if it's the metal bar at ~3rd fret you're thinking about). Not sure though...

  • hallo everybody....just a question ...

can anyone say me what the hell he has in his left hand when he play... is something like roundglass??? or what? sorry...im not a guitarist than a beginner so... HELP ME PLEASE BECAME A SLIDERNEWSIDERBLUESMAN :-)

if some one has some link of a online shop to buy that is appreciated! harry you have SOUL POWER! i can feel it!

    ciao from ITALY!!!

  • @claudioaloe - He uses a metal bar for the slide, players use metal or glass depending on the sound they want. This is just good slide guitar blues .... open tuning, I have talked with Haryy Manx he uses over 70 different open tunings ...

  • @claudioaloe its a slide, not a bottle slide like Duane Allman but like a slide you would play on Dobro. It doesn't slide around your finger though, so you got to play the guitar over your lap, like a Dobro.

  • This guy knows how to play blues guitar. Amongst other things. So don't tell me white guy can't play real blues.

  • @VioletGiraffe Harry Manx actually spent 5 yrs in India learning the Mohan Vina, which is the basis of his lap style technique. Colour doesn't come into the equation...certainly not for Harry anyway.

  • @taildragger53

True, but there is quite a persistent stereotype, so I felt I should point to it being wrong.

  • @VioletGiraffe The stereotype is in peoples heads. The same way the line of defense is in yours. There is NOTHING to defend.

Music is a universal language not a means to develop paranoia.

  • @taildragger53

Not defending, pointing to facts, nothing more.

  • @VioletGiraffe Those are not facts. Your opinion is not based on facts.

What is a fact is that there is NO colour in music. Music is based on feelings, NOT ego, intellectuality, pride or politics. Music is one of the only non-judgemental forms of art in this World..now let's keep it that way.

  • This is awesome.

    =D

  • This guy is amazing. Saw him for the 1st time when he opened for Richie Havens at The Old Town School of Folk Music in Chicago, Oct. 18, 2009. WOW!

  • i dont hear no ragas ?

  • The raga influence isn't in this tune so much as some of his other material, he mixes the styles in varying quantities.

  • finger picking method...if you like it check out tommy emmanuel...he's the god of this style!!

manx is amazing too, but they are very different...

  • He is GOD!

  • anyone who says theres a second track obviously doesnt know the beauty of the acoustic guitar. It can be as much a drum as anything eles. Hell yeah to solo acoustic players, Keep the faith!

  • is the bridge raised from the guitar , very much like i see or am i wrong ?

  • Looks like its raised allright:)

  • Guess you haven't had the pleasure of seeing him live - he is authentic and you are incorrect about the second track - he makes all the music with his single guitar - watch again and listen better!!!

  • You're so wrong. This is all done live. Don't be sad. Maybe you'll learn how to play an instrument someday.

  • definately sounds like it but i think youll find hes playin rhythm with his thumb and melody with his fingers.

  • Fantastic..

  • Yeeeeaaaaah

  • just saw Harry in Bragg Creek, AB. last weekend, what a great show!

  • is he plam muting and striking with the upside of his fingers cos his thumb ain hitting

  • might be a stupid question, but how does he get that muting rhythm sound on the off beat

  • palm muting

  • Not a stupid question at all you have there "pierotrail" (4 months ago). There's a scond track with rhythm guitar. No doubt

  • @fengsel I play with him. That's what he does. If you watch the right hand, he uses Thumb for the bass notes, and then the other fingers for the rhythm.

It's actually high praise that you think there is a recorded track.

  • Will be great to see him perform with Richie Havens!

  • the intro sounds a bit like muddy waters youre gonna miss me

  • love this guy! I have bought ever CD of his I can get my hands on, love them all!

  • Maybe he thought "pistol" was too violent these days. Kinda funny...

  • pickle!

  • Nice vid! Thanks for posting.

  • really enjoyed this. only thing, did he say "i feel like slapping a PICKLE in your face"?

  • very cool!!....terrific performance!

  • very cool

  • super fun to try to play, somewhat technical tho

  • Wow.

  • okay, the tuning is in OPEN D, with a capo on 2nd.

Goodluck to anyone else working this song out

  • i love this, im going to learn this version as well as the orignal

this looks more fun to play!

  • I saw harry play last night at the request of my music teacher. Simply incredible. I had the opportunity to meet him after the show. He was both polite and humble.

Also quite the comedian during songs.

  • Is that thing stuck on the scratch-plate simply to rest his little finger. A sort of reference point.

  • I adore this man

  • unbelievable artistry. manx rules

  • no haters please, but i LOVE John Mayall's "I Want To Go", it's derivative, but it rocks in this style too.

  • bitchin'

  • Harry Manx a good old and well knowed man.

    keep on rocking

  • Ya gotta like this!!! could listen all day....

keep it up.... thanks for the video...

  • give me the chills!

    top notch man

  • This is first rate. Manx's guitar playing is deceptively simple; in fact it takes great craft and control to play a driving blues like this, and his singing is even better. Please, sir, I want some more.

  • To adapt such a blues standard and turn it into a new thing need a great artistic touch and strong personality ! Really loves your new way !
