  • Everybody loves Bob........

  • Is that a little kid sitting there at 0:09?

  • @raceday2011 YES THERE IS at 0:10

  • Unfortunately he convinced our zoo to get rid of the pandas.

  • that was longest entrance ever :D

  • Anyone catch Bob's little wave with his hand as he walked out, that's a rare sight there, he really hardly did anything like that that I can recall, was just a straight march to the front part of the stage generally speaking.

  • The way the music and the ovation happened, you'd think it was the final episode or something.

  • Of all the years, Johnny Olson announced, he only missed one taping on Match Game from 1977, I forgot who subbed for him.

  • @danbarker39 I think it was Gene Wood,but I am not sure

  • Bob's so great I gave him a standing ovation in my own living room.

  • When was this episode aired?

  • Why was there a standing oviation?

  • THAT WASN'T JOHNNY OLSON AT

    00:59.

  • bob barker kicks ass

  • @springmist775 Happy Gilmore would be the 1st to testify.

  • It was the enthusiastic intro provided by Johnny!

  • @DorvellTStewart His voice was like gold, glad to have had him in our lives and living rooms.

  • If I am right, I think this is the show he did after his wife passed. I remember that he took time off from taping to grieve, so this could be it. Don't quote me on that , but I know his wife passed in late 1981. That might be the reason for the great show of support from the audience.

  • That can't be the reason why. First of all notice the design of the turntable, that padded design started around December 1982, nearly a year after his wife had passed. I don't know the exact reason why he got a standing ovation on this particular episode.

  • because he's awesome nuff said there

  • Wow...the theme's on for a full minute at the top of the show. That's extremely rare.

I'm amazed it took him 10 years to get his first standing O, especially since he was number one from day one.

  • @devswartz Personally I'm hoping that Alex Trebek will go on until at least 2019 which would mark his 50th year in television, and I hope they host a big event episode at Carnegie Hall or something like that, and the audience gives HIM a standing ovation when he comes out.

  • Bob entered the doors using his arms,

  • I think i see Johnny Olsen at :18 seconds.

  • thats not him thats the ticket guy for cbs johhny o had a little spot on the stage

  • This is correct. Johnny, Rod, and Rich up through season 35 had a little spot right on the corner of the stage. Now Rich has his own little platform just off the stage.

  • He says, "OverHwhelmed" Reminds me of the episode of "Family Guy" when Stewie says "Cool Hwhip" and Brian gets pissed off lol

  • This wouldn't be repeated until at least the late 1984-85 and 1985-86 seasons.

  • Exactly why did he get a standing ovation?

  • wow this is beautiful. it has been way to long since ive seen bob. next time im having a bad day im just gonna come watch this and ill b happy again

  • If this took place right after Dorothy Jo died, you would think he would have thanked the viewers for their cards and letters of sympathy. So maybe it's not that episode.

  • His wife died 14 months before this episode taped

  • maybe he didn't want the viewers to know what was going down

  • he would get welcomes like this for the next 25 years. lol.

  • very true until the last day

  • i miss the old game show network

  • I think you're trying to lower our hopes. Remember, never say never!

  • I thought Bob's wife died in 1981.

  • 1981 or 1982...one of the two

  • I hope Les eventually gets off his kester and gives GSN TPIR again, soon

  • "I so would like it to continue..."

    And it never stopped...

  • But his wife died in 1981...so I'm guessing he took a week off to mourn her death, and then he filmed it, and then this aired a year later...

  • No wonder Bob got that standing ovation!

  • Actually, I hear that he didn't take any time off at all.

  • They didn't tape every forth week anyway.

  • Near the end of the season, they occasionally take a week break (and I think around Christmas they do the same thing). However, for the most part, they tape every week.

  • Did this episode ever air oin GSN?

  • Yes, back in early 1999

  • great me and my grandma was wathching in 1982

  • I think everyone just wanted to be on camera lol...

  • Sometime either 1981 or 1982 they redid the stage with a new background for him coming out, no more lights around the borders and also the newer more modern theme.

  • in 1982 for the 1982-83 season, they redid the turntables with a more modern background

  • for xmas 1982 it looked funny as the turntable had been refinished, but the rest of the set around the turntables hadn't been. Something you'd NEVER see nowadays.

  • This must have been shortly after they introduced the purple, red, orange turntable.

  • the basic 1972-82 turntables had little light bulbs that can be seen easily depending on which angle you're seeing it

  • "If you're planning to come to our show, I certainly like to have it continue!" I think audiences on the show took him up on it!

  • bob get an standing ovation golden road

  • The microphone is too short!

  • Man, I loved how the last five-ten years of the show, he got a big standing ovation EVERY SINGLE TIME. I'm guessing this audience was juiced into doing it, too--not the case later on. Him and Oprah, man. They were the only ones who could command a huge, crazed standing ovation every single episode. We'll miss you, Bob.

  • Oh, I hope GSN gets The Price is Right back now that Bob's gone

  • I think I know why they gave him a Standing Ovation, He won his first of MANY Emmys for hosting TPIR in 1982.

  • Does anyone ever wonder why the she show never had differently-abled person as a contentant? Blind or maybe in a wheelchair?

  • On September 27, 1999, TPIR had its first wheelchair contestant. They had another one on October 2, 2003.

  • Now you've made a jackass of yourself: you assumed something without any real facts. The show, indeed, has had its share of "differently-abled" contestants. There's even a youtube video of a wheelchair contestant playing switcheroo. Do a little "searching" before you make false accusations, how about?

  • Here's a dirty little Price is Right secret: These days the staff directs you to give Bob a standing ovation. At least that was the case when I saw the show a couple years ago. Two staffers were on stage giving everybody the signal to stand up and applaud.

  • I seem to remember Bob at one point saying that sometimes kids were let in, if it was for like "Make A Wish" or something like that. Alternatively, they might not have had that rule at that time.

  • brought a tear to my eye... thanks

  • I'd say it was for the 10 years on the air?

  • Bob deserved that standing ovation. I hope he gets one on his final show.

  • Honestly, do you expect anything else?

Heck, I'm sure everyone watching at home will give him a standing ovation!

  • well seeing how most people watching are shutins at home, they will have to do the lying down ovation lol.

  • He absolutely did and his final words were "Now folks,I want to thank you for inviting me into your for the past 50 years I am very very grateful".

  • imagine his reaction if he didnt get one today...

  • What this episode took place after his wife died?

  • so this is how it all started with the standing ovations !

  • Oh my! There is a kid in the audience!

  • where

  • At 8 seconds in! There is a woman leaning over to a little girl in purple!

  • Yeah! I didn't think kids were allowed at tapings.
