GOD i loved this scene, esp with he turns on the power, and world apart starts playing, along with the arcade machines sound effects... it took me back, like everyone else who loves arcade games, and the 80's, thanks so much for the upload, a classic scene for any1 who loved the arcade culture in the 80's
@tswagg504 of course, but going to the arcade was funner than sitting on a couch playing against a bunch of people you've never met in your life. You would have had to been born in the 70's of 80s to understand
@Anndi84 the song that was played while he was at the arcades is "Separate Ways" By Journey and the one played when he was walking down the stairs is "Sweet Dreams" by Eurythmics.
@ DarkPrinceNH5570: the original TRON came out in 1982 I think. I haven't seen it but I've seen the trailer for it & it looks really good! Jeff Bridges is in that one too :)
The arcade scene is pumping. Got goose bumps as soon as the music came on. Now I know what the song was. In Tron the whole scene blended together beautifully! Great movie and effects too. Awesome.
Since Sam Flynn opened the doors and turned on the lights and the video games came back to life at his father's arcade, it would be nice to have visitors piling in like from the 1980s era. Flynn's Arcade should be back in business.
I like this scene a lot. My favorite scene part is when Sam finds his dad's secret work area and uses the special type of computer to get into The Grid. When the laser gets Sam into the game, I like how it happens. I also have the movie.
the dude turns the electricity back on and 'separate ways' starts playing. that moment was priceless man. along with the arcade machines and the apperance of the place, that brought back many memories. i almost shed tears of happiness. good old times man, good old times.
i am not gay but can someone atleast admit that garret Hedlund is the most handsome actor against taylor lautner and robert pattinson? im serious cuz he is into his roles better while the others just try looking good. my opinion is that he doesntcare bout his looks and he just cares of his skill for acting
@DonChilenito dude if i stated clearly im not gay and that i have had crushes on girls than im not gay. i am one of the very few boys in my class and girls always complain about who is ''hotter'' or shit like that. my sis hates twilight cuz she hates the actors, same with my ma and the fact that you take it immaturely to state a guy lookin handsome. for instance. ive heard alot of guys saying johnny depp is a handsome guy and yet they are married. So i would say you are takin this immaturely
continued: It's kind of like in Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time when Link is walking down the great hall of the Temple of Time, getting ready to make the trip into the future.
Born in 1973 I was truly a kid of the 80's. Someone did their homework right for this scene. I remember listening to Journey "On Vinyl"!!! Summer of 82'. Going to the local arcade "The Showboat & Malibu Grand Prix" with my older cousin was a big part of growing up in the 80's. To bad places like this don't exist anymore. There should be a throw back. Favorite game of all time was "Tempest".
The TRON version of "Separate Ways". The lyrics would be like this:
"Someday, Tron will find you. De-rezz bits that bind you. One night will remind you of playing all those games in Flynn's arcade. If Sark ever hurts you, Bit will not desert you, You know I still love to be playing all those games in Flynn's arcade."
Watching this scene was like being teleported back to the 1980's when I was a kid. I'm glad this scene was in the movie. My favorite part of the whole film.
Did they play this song in the first movie on the original theater release prints? I know the original just released on dvd and the arcade scene didn't have the journey song or Sweet Dreams.
I was in high school in the 80s, so I guess that was the ultimate. I remember when all of the 80s stuff was new release. At the time, we took all of those great bands and songs for granted. That was all we knew and that was just how music was. Little did we know, music wouldn't always be that good and future bands wouldn't continue rocking like that. Now we look back and say, "Holy shit! Our era was hella cool!"
One question: Why didn't Yori's system become a reality instead of being just something Kevin Flynn used to enter/exit the Grid? What a world that would have been-instant transport to and from someplace!
As a person that was born in 87', I like the 80's as well. Even though I didn't fully live in that era I still somewhat experienced it. The early 1990's was still in the 80's like time.
@MRW2276, Defender, Spy Hunter, Mario Bros.,, VS Super Mario Bros., Track & Field, Gauntlet, Hard Drivin', Route 16, Mortal Kombat. I wonder if that arcade had Zaxxon, Hang-On, OutRun, Space Harrier, Congo Bongo, After Burner, GORF, Space Invaders, Ms. Pac-Man, and VS Castlevania.
This film felt very 80's even though everything about it is technically well above anything from the 80's. I think the synth score and little nods like the journey song really get you into the movie. It just should have been much shorter maybe an hour and a half and make it more action oriented rather than techno psycho babble.
I luv how he returns to "Flynns" this such a great scene cus it kinda brings it all bk, that nostalgia feel.
