I live directly across the street from this building on the Hall street side and I am of retirement age and would like to sell my home. This eyesore is detracting from home values in this neighborhood.
What I don't quite understand is why this derelict abomination hasn't yet been demolished? Yes, nostalgia may play a role, but the place looks like an architectural time bomb in my opinion.
A little paint, a little spackle, maybe some floor polish, it'll be fine. :)
There's still several groups, suposedly, that would like to gut the place to the bricks, and make it into something. It's just a matter of the economy, and people putting the millions into it.
As for demolition, the asbestos and lead paint removal alone puts the price tag of demolition out of the city's price range, if taken by eminent domain.

I'd love to see something done with this place, along the lines your neighbors accepted a long time ago.
Then again, I wonder where all these other groups that want this place dissapeared to?
