@ten8goa I can translate a little, the old guy wit glasses runs this rotory company, the way he started doing this is when he was little he was in love with triangles, so he thought about a triangle car wit three wheels, the he saw a guy raping his mom in circle style, but that was his dad, and then it hit him, what hit him was a 4cyl honda engine, then he said to him self imma make my self a better engine that would be smaller and run on triangles, so he combined circle with triangle and
he called it a rotor, cuz his full name was Akinawa Rotory Hirashima...doesnt make any sense but thats what he said...I know it all sounds dumb, but Japanese are like that, they dont make any sense but when they make something, everyone in the world is jealous about it.
A German invented it so Give him his respect ,,,it just so happend that the japanese made it a bit more practical , fuel efficient and not to mention LIGHTWEIGHT
Honestly IF THE U S would've made the ROTARY Engine It would've been a Peice of shit and it wouldve drank more gas and burned more oil than it already does
no offence ...
The rotary engine is not the best of engines but for its size its performance is OUTSTANDING especially when its turbocharged and maintained properly,,,
@JuanPapaNicolao it was orignally designed for aircraft - which is where its light weight and high power ratio makes it extremely practical - special for fighter of the time that it was designed
@JuanPapaNicolao ironically a german guy (nicolus otto) did the same to the 4 stroke engine .. some guy (french i think) tried to patent it years before but otto got a hold of the design improved it, patent it and was the first to sell it to the masses
@JuanPapaNicolao The rotary engine missed out on WW2, therefore the technology to make it even better was not developed in time. Piston engines were developed while the rotary engine was left in the dust. I'm sure if the NSU started developing rotary engines a little bit earlier, they'd be mass produced equally to or more than the standard piston engines we have today.
@JuanPapaNicolao their are allot of other possibilities for the engine style aswell not just using combustible's.. the rotor format was banned from Le mans because it was far too effective.
@JuanPapaNicolao Starting in the mid '60's, GM was heavily involved in rotary development, and that's just what they ran into, they couldn't get it right, and then the fuel and smog issues killed it completely. The Vette was to be a mid engine 4 rotor, it would have been a ferrari killer, but we had to wait a couple decades for that to happen! NSU and Citroen both built rotarys, and had the same problems, NSU being ruined and sold in the end. Mazda had trouble as well.
chevy had dibs on the rotory first for the vette but couldnt get the gas milage out of the engine so mxda bought the right's google it i know what im talking about!
oi dyno1316 ur a fucking wanker shut the fuck up you really dnt knw what the fuck your talking about......fucking faget get ur facts right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't bash him ppl he is right. The original design was by Plymouth or Chrysler or something like that. But it never made it of the draft table because it was to costly to make. Japan finished the development

People don't know about history of cars, as far as i know there are 4 corvetts in the USA with 4 rotors each they developed after Crysler sell the patent to Mazda that was in the 40 or 50s i don't remember the time fact, but I know that the people who oun these vehicles can't ride it in the streets... of USA at least...
Trust the Japs to beat the Europeans in their own sport! Tora Tora Tora! LOL
