Legendary country artist like the late great Jerry Reed and Chet Atkins along with legends from Haggard to Jones and all in between through their music inspired me to save my life. After losing 534 pounds & surviving 39 surgeries & 3 heart failures all that I want to do is to inspire others while performing the music that has saved my life and means so very much to me. I made a vow to God on my deathbed that if he let me live I would do all I could to keep this music going. Thanks for posting!!
@steveyraynelson I'm guilty! I play it a little faster than this version.. It's actually easier to play it fast. I'm trying to slow it down though. Ever heard Lenny Breau's version? pretty cool
its still sad that even in their old age the video is in crappy old VHS.... but these guys are the nicest/ best guitarists ever.... buckethead, steve vai, slash...... maybe all be good and stuff.... but they dont have the sould like these 2 here! Jerry Reed and Chet Atkins for ever!!!!!!!!!!!!
Guys, gals - this is the kind of music you want to memorize in your heart. Down-home guitar doesn't get any better than Chet Atkins and Jerry Reed. They were a duo, indecipherable, one soul connected to the other. Good thing is, we have Youtube contributors to memorialize their genius. Listen, enjoy - and tap your foot on the bottom-side...
It's always a great moment of guitar and music to see and hear these two masters. But it is also, alas, now, a great moment of nostalgia. Regardless, their music will remain immortal. Thank you ...
Ya gotta love it - Jerry, the one who always humbles himself to Chet - then Chet just stops playing, toward the end, shakes his head and Jerry sets up the ending. They both hit the same notes perfectly. What a duo they were...
when i was growing up my dad used to tell me how great these guys were but i was to busy trying to rip off srv and evh. wish he was still here so i could tell him he was right
I never got to meet Jerry, but Bill wound up with his Yamaha delay for a long time. Pappy has it right too...when I was around Bill and Chet, I kept my mouth shut and learned as much as I could. So much of what Brent Mason has done in modern country is because of these guys. Throw in some James Burton and Don Rich...a dash of ROy Nichols...and there ya go.
I dont know what it is, but all the old country kinda finger pick players like Chet and Jerry always seem to be, and are spoken of as real gentlemen.
As a 17 year old, I only really recently got into Chet and Jerry's work, but after hearing it, and how they were spoken of, I would have loved to meet one of them. It's such a shame they're both gone :(
@googuse You are a idiot and you are showing it like all idiots do. You don't know what you are talking about like all idiots, you just open your stpid mouth and show everyone how stupid you are. All idiots thing they are smart, you are just proving this point. You can't procees what they are doing, because it takes talent and brains to do that. you are just a stupid smart ass.
Funny...Chet is trying to look cool with his leather jacket and sunglasses, kind of reminds me of the song he did with Mark Knopfler "There'll Be Some Changes Made".
