  • without yoko we wouldnt have Look at me, Oh my Love, Oh Yoko, Hold on, Jealous Guy, and many more. sure the beatles broke up and sure yoko had a part in it, but after they broke up john produced great music for a good 10 years.

    fuck MDC

  • @laama6

    Yeah.

Maybe John started to break away from The Beatles and spent more time with Yoko.

  • @laama6 this is always a good point against the people who say stuff about yoko. if she truly did break up the beatles we have her to thank for all the great solo work

  • Just what I needed to hear. <3

  • That was beautiful . Thank you for posting it. And thank you John.

  • 1 person doesn't want too look at John Lennon :(

  • @MJpoet1 i know that sucks i wonder ho that 1 person is

  • great song.. great pictures. thanks for sharing m8

  • It was Donovan that showed him that style when they visited Mahareshi's camp.

  • Auguri per i tuoi 70 anni GRANDE JOHN!!!

  • seems like lennon spent more of his lifetime in front of a camera than he did not

  • @MoveOverCasanova It only seems like that because that's all you've ever seen of him.

  • It's also a lot like Pink Floyd's Pillow of winds. Another great song!!

  • @adam74100 hmmmm...never thought of that. Guess it does sound like.

  • Great tune. I love when in a moment of assertiveness, he still draws back every time as if really asking "Who am I supposed to be?"

"Look at ME! ..oh my love"

  • Dear Julia is a Warm Gun?

  • The style is called Travis Picking named after Merle Travis.

  • Great song ! great slideshow ! I posted my original "Reflection" which is inspired by my Lennon influence.

  • Wow, loving the 'Julia' backbeat. Love this song. Great pictures too! :)

  • The fingering picking was common for Lennon during the white album sessions, as seen on "dear prudence," "happiness is a warm gun," and "julia." He learned it as a form of "travis picking" from Donovan, when they were both in India.

  • great selection of photos

  • great song

  • He is just experimenting with his songs.

  • amazing slideshow!! :)

  • Hes tired and trying to be, not let it be, its obvious thats hes in his depressed state...a thinker is always that way, it drove him to the point of insanity!

  • Beautiful, Beautiful Man. One-of-a-kind. One-in-a-trillion!!!!

  • was he a beautiful boy or what!

  • he shouldnt have died

how can i think life is beautiful when he dies like that

  • the beggining sounds like im so tired from the white album

vocals sounds like julia from the white album

and guitar sounds like dear prudence and julia from the white albumm

    pretty good

  • BEST-SINGER-SONGWRITER-EVER!!!

I love the slideshow also, shows him aging.

  • @FilmStudentWannabe agreed. John Lennon was the best singer-songwriter. Love the upper case caps. he deserves that and so much more....

  • what a great artist ever!

  • cmartmozzy: You're right. This song was written in 67-68 (I believe it was '68), around the time the White Album was being recorded.

John is just the best... A brilliant person, really.

  • This is very simular to Julia on the WHITE ALBUM!! almost as good!!

  • ah, beatiful, a real confession from John <3

  • John Lennon was such a beautiful song writer, singer, man, He still is..

  • beautiful as always

  • wow

  • I think if I met John Lennon i would have fallen in love with him.<3 Great song.

  • i haven't met john lennon and i am in love with him!

  • Agreed. LOL He had such a beautiful soul.

  • i love john lennon i wish he was still alive so i could meet him

  • great song

  • Does anybody else think the guitar picking is a lot like 'Julia' from the White album.

  • Its a pattern that he used in a lot of his songs e.g. Steel and Glass and Dear Prudence

  • It is, as well as on "Happiness is a Warm Gun", "Julia", "Octopus' Garden" and many others around that time in ''67 - 68 and on, since that was about the time he was taught the "Travis Picking" style by folk guitarist Donovan when they all went to India.

  • dtx120:

You have an excellent ear.The guitar picking is similar to "Julia",as is the mournful melody.Lennon's was an excellent lyricist.Imho, as a composer his range was limited.Sir Paul is a musician who could compose in any style ranging from 1950's American R&B,standard rock and roll, ragtime, hard rock, bluesy bits,

British funk, and of all things, sacred music. The Liverpool Oratorio wasn't half bad either.Ringo& George had musical talent w/humor and sincerity.I LOVE the Beatles!

  • Yeah those first notes sounded an awful lot like I'm So Tired too XD...but yeah...it sounds very White Album-ish.

  • @dtx120 The fingerstyle picking is exactly the same, though the chords are much more demanding. Other songs that have the same picking rhythm include Octopus' Garden, Dear Prudence, and quite a few more. It's apparently called "Travis-picking".

  • @dtx120 Yes It is!!!!!

  • @dtx120 haha i was thinking the same thing. also a bit similar to 'dear prudence' :D

  • @dtx120 it's no like, it's just the same technique, and John use it in dear prudence, sun king and octopus' garden too :P

  • @dtx120 No thinking. It is.

  • @dtx120 this song was actually written during the White album sessions....The finger picking technique is known as "travis picking"

  • @dtx120 This song was written in India in 1968 but was not put on the White Album. Just like Jealous Guy, Not Guilty (George Harrison) and Teddy Boy (Paul McCartney) and other songs.

  • @dtx120 u're right!

  • @dtx120

it is, the same method, Donovan taught him this method in India. You can also hear it in "Dear Prudence"

  • @dtx120 I thought it sounded like Dear Prudence.

  • @darknight10000 Dear Prudence, Julia, Happiness is a Warm Gun, Everybody had a Hard Year, this song, and probably others all use the same picking pattern.

  • @skullface89 Yeh,"travis"picking

  • @dtx120

It's been written at the same time so it's possible

  • @dtx120 Yes I've noticed that... But the little intro... Isn't it sounding like a intro of "I'm So Tired"?

  • @dtx120 i fact it's the same technique that he used on dear prudence, octopus's garden, happines is a warm gun, sun king and emm maybe other else XD

  • @dtx120 Yes and it is gorgeous. A lot of songs can be invented from notes played from previous hits owned by the authors of that specific music. Great isn't it.

  • @dtx120

It's because this is a white album outtake, he learnt this guitar plucking technique from Donovan when they were in India

  • @thecollectfew Doesn't that mean this is a beatles song then?

  • @residentevlidead technically I guess it is

  • @dtx120

I see your point there. Picking is pretty hard, Take it from a guy who plays.

  • @dtx120 it is actually :)

  • @dtx120 Artists do it all the time. Sometimes when you fiddle with a neat sounding chord for long enough it can turn into something entirely different. And just by adding different lyrics to a song that is essentially similar to another makes the tune an entirely new song.

  • @dtx120 i'm hearing blackbird also

  • @dtx120 it's a technique that Scottish singer, song writer Donovan taught Paul for mother nature's son, rocky racoon, ect, and Lennon for Julia.

  • @dtx120 I think that that was a way of always incorpoarting (Spelling?) his mother into his music. Not saying it's a fact but that is what I think. John really loved his mother and I think that this was kinda his way of communicating with her

  • @yourlostlittlegirl I agree completely, you gain a lot of identity and self-confidence as you grow up, your parents are the first people in your life to love you (mostly) and give you validation. John never received this so is almost belatedly asking for it

  • @dtx120 no shit. it's also in octopus' garden, dear prudence and happiness is a warm gun. it's a great pattern learned from donovan, why not use it everywhere?

  • @dtx120 Yeah, it's pretty much a slower but similar rhythm. The picking pattern on the strings from Julia is almost the exact same in Look at Me too.

  • @dtx120 It's called Travis picking.

  • @Jah044445 Travis who?

  • john is my hero.... i love him

  • @cokkiepartylennon93 He is my hero too, my favorite Beatle and my favorite solo artist of all time. I too miss him dearly for his music, his strong stand as a peaceful activist and so much more. Love and miss ya Johnny.

  • damn! he was so fuckin' sexy before he grew out his hair and everythin'!

  • OMFG!!!!!! those aerly pics were georgouse!!!1 why did he have to grow out his hair and everything? :'(

  • It was a kind of protest I believe. Once he showed people that he was not only a cute guy but a Person with his strong opinion and desire of peace.

  • awsome video!!! He was so beautiful as a boy and then he grew up to be a sexy man :*3 xD

  • Oohh he's so CUTE as a little boy! He kept getting beautifuler by the day, until they took him away...
