The Chevy dealer was at Oxnard street and VN blvd. It was PWR for years and now I think it keys. I cruised it in the 60's, from Bob's on Sepulveda in MIssion Hills to the AW on Ventura Blvd
This reminds me of the Woodward Dream Cruise Detroit,MI. By the way there is a cruise night everyday of the week all summer long in Detroit. I use to hear about Van Nuys, CA when I was a kid growing up in MI.
Bring it out and SHOW IT, too many people keep their rides, locked up in a garage sitting some where.Who knows ,you could die tomorrow and someone else may just sell it.
thats prolly why you dont see any cops interfereing, cause they know how to act and drive the right way otherwise the cops would put an end to this, and before you open your big mouth, yes cruisin' is illegal in some towns, bonehead
george......next time you WILL take me with you to cali, we can crusie the strip and hang out at the chevy shop.... sounds like fun to me! cruzin to find some girls...yea!
In May of 1966 we moved to California. I was 17 1/2. We lived in Sherman Oaks. It didn't take long for me to discover Van Nuys Blvd. My first hot rod - a 1969 Chevelle SS Rat 396, 425 HP, 4 spd (of course), next - 1969 Camaro SS blueprinted Rat 396, 425 HP, 4 spd, Thorley headers w/4:33's in the rear end, last -1970 silver Corvette 454 4spd w/aluminum heads, lake pipes & Thorleys. As a member of Chevy's Inc. I raced my cars at Irwindale - turned some 12's. Best of all....I'm a girl!
The past 2 times that I have gone to this, the lights @ the Rydells parking light have been turned off. My guess is that if this continues to happen, Van Nuys cruis night will die once again.
san fernando valley is destined for a ghost town if da cops and polititians there dont eas off da cruising let be free in laurel cyn or in van nuys blvd, its harmless and the taxes of people buying shit would be benefecial, like in santa ana, ca bristol
Now that was bitchin. It used to be like that on the weekends here in downtown Phoenix, but that died off in the late 80's due to gangs having shootouts with each other, etc. Police I remember limited the number of times you could pass spot within a given time frame, and good cruizin pretty much died.
This is awesome though. I might have to build another car and move over there. Loved all the beautiful and sometimes quite rare muscle. Amazing, didn't know this was still taking place........
Great to see that the Van Nuys cruising is back! Another reason to come for another visit to L.A. asap! Awesome footage, thanks for sharing and hope you will shoot some more!
Does anybody know if Van Nuys Blvd. is still going for summer 2012?

So was it illegal to cruise Van Nuys Blvd or something? I read reference to earlier in 09' being the first time there had been cruising in 28 years.

So like where is this camera stationed at for the majority of this???? Where on Van Nuys Blvd? I'll pull it up on a map.

Van Nuys Blvd. Forget the cross street but it's at the Chevy dealer.
kameano 2 years ago
Yeah, I figured out where this was later, after looking at a clubs website talking about the dealership, etc.
