  • scale used at :24, anyone know?

  • Great job, your bends are full and rich, something that most youtube guitarists are lacking. I would like to share with you my own version that I just recorded with the rest of the song included. Please check it out on my profile!

  • you have a fender squire?????

  • i have the same guitar, but different color

  • u should post a video lesson on how to do this

  • u should post u doing the end solo to holy wars by megadeth!

  • Me and kevmanpwns playing Metallica Medley at a variety show. I hope you learn how to play it like this...

  • that was really good, man... u encouraged me to learn this song now... if ur ever checking ur comments, please reply to this question... (how do u go down the scales so quickly? at 14 seconds u should see what i mean, please answer me i need to learn the rest of this solo before the variety show, if u can help me i would be very happy :)

  • thanks a lot ^^

well, i have been playing Metallica solos for quite a long time now. The triplet descending pattern is a lot common and you can manage to do it quite easily with just two fingers and sliding (just keep increasing the speed). I advise you to try quadruplets as well, downwards and upwards (the last one is more difficult, though), since they appear a lot on solos like this ;)

the key is playing slow and then gradually increasing tempo (if you are getting it accurate)

  • wow, thanks a lot... that is the same way i learned how to do the sweep picking solo in creeping death... lmao i was also wondering is it the same thing (practice slow and get faster) with the part of this solo, at 45 seconds and at the end?

  • hum, the part at 45 seconds seems easy, so i don't know if you're referring to the pentatonic part. supposing that you're talking about the latter, i'd say you try to play a lot of pentatonic work, and then you should be able to nail that without a hard time. if you are able to play creeping death, you should be able to play this as well.

  • well i dont mean the 12-12-12-12-13-12-12-12-12-15-12-12-12-12-12-15b17 part, i mean the part where it alternates between strings at the whole 15-12-15-12-15-12-14-12-15-12 (the tabs are incorrect, but i think u may be able to find out what i mean. thanks for all the help so far lol

  • so, it's the pentatonic part as i said. well, i sincerely don't remember if i get that part from ear or from a tab. but i most probably checked my master of puppets official tab book for it. so, try to get an accurate tab and nail it down. for me, the trickiest part was by far the palm-muting part (the right notes). i spent a lot of time trying to learn it by heart since it is so unusual. the rest went more smoothly (although i had some trouble at the beginning part as well)

  • ok thanks, it seems the whole practice slow and slowly increasing the speed seems to work best. Anyway, i must say that this is quite an amazing cover and is it just me or do most of kirk hammet's solo's sound alike or what? lmao im taking ur advice and practicing slowly...thanks

  • they don't sound alike that much, but it's true he uses a lot of same scale patterns, so they get easier to figure out.

  • man, you know what would be so awesome?? if you could play it reeeel slow for all us noobs, then maybe we could learn it!! ya know? like an instructional video...if yer not too busy....

  • noob

  • man that was good

how long have you been playing?

  • That sucks more dink than you. and ulook like u suck alot of dink

  • 20 bucks says you probably cant come closs to that yourself.

  • bullshit, "Rawk"20. just for your illogical comment I one-starred all your vids. :D

  • Hey Man Can you Post Tabs?

  • i guess so, on rapidshare, or something like that

  • buy the book

  • ... it's kirk hammett

  • is that a G&L guitar?

  • noo i was actually talking about the guitar that headbanger thought it was (which in fact wasn't way off, i had a differnet ibanez in mind, no mean to diss)

but the solo itself was pretty good much better than I can do. props

  • how much that amp set you back

  • lol.. way off dude

  • is this an ibanez grx 40?

  • yamaha eg112

  • dude great job , but shifty audio

  • i have to agree with you, the sound quality isn't really very good, but i have to compress the video and the quality of image and sound go down... :\

  • Well you're great and stuff! but i still want some iron maiden! so... plz pretty plz? ;(

  • hum...this song...I remember now...you sent me this solo...but before that I didn't know this song...but it's great...lol...ok,it's awesome...I love you...
