I'm 22 on my second year in my department, my base is 56k a year. Maybe where these guys are it's less but with overtime I pulled in almost 80 last year
25k in utah... pfttt eastern canada 45k for cadet and 55k for after 1 year cadet LOL us.. no prior experience needed if you have then its 48k cadet and 60k after cadet
@86bignate i doubt it plus part time usually means unstable meaning you work sum and other times its hard to find anything. at least this you get consistent work. also think about how little work most police do anyways. 25k for sitting around writting parking tickets.
@86bignate Yes, I agree 25,00 is awful. Here as a LAPD officer they get around 45,000 for starting salary and then the next 6 months you get a raise and the next 6 months you get another raise and then the next six months you get one more raise. Then after that year and a half you actually need to promote and stuff to get a raise.
@blackmist12345678 instead of behind paid 8 bucks an hour, they are paid 25,000 a year. This is based on a preset amount of hours (usually 40), vacations and sick days. also overtime is added onto that and if you pick up hours working on the street directing traffic, that is also added to your pay. To answer the question, the annual 25,000 is the salary.
mightylite94 is right the bigger community you live in the higher your income.
California police officers get paid up to 100,000 to 150,000 a year, due to higher living cost. Smaller areas such as a small town you get lower income 25,000 to 45,000. research it :)
@mxrider4321 actually california is about 65-79k and the highest paid is new jersey with 58k-97k so it seems..you need to research it lol 150k? uhm..no
@mxrider4321 If a police officer in California makes over 100,000 a year, that's either a VERY high rank (capt. or above) or you may be including overtime and details. Base pay for a starting officer, even in beverly hills, is only around 48,000 per year.

@safewaysecurity ok bud, i gaurantee you that a new cop doesnt make 130,000 a year with a high school diploma, not even a new LAWYER makes that much a year
@Mightylite94 I didn't say $130,000 dude. Plus these areas have higher incomes because cost of living is higher. Also because the libs over here vote to raise taxes for no reason. Read their OWN SITES!! They say average pay for a starting patrol officer is $90,000 and that's not including added pension and pay vacations. It may be hard for someone like you to understand coming from a place outside of where I live. But government is very big where I am and it's why we have a huge deficit.
@Mightylite94 Actually it was " Oakland police officers get even higher salaries... I heard they get $130,000" also some officers get paid even more than that. Most will not get that kind of starting salary but depending on where they work and when and their background they can get that much. Have you even researched it or are you just talking out of your ass. Their sites say what they make and I'm just saying what they say.
@safewaysecurity your nuts, and your lieing. no department is going to pay a NEW OFFICER 90,000 a year, not including pension, healthcare, and medical insurance. Thats 90,000 times a 1000 new officers, plus 130,000 times 1500 your looking at somewhere around 30 - 35 million bucks A YEAR, your crazy and we ALL KNOW YOUR LIEING!!!!!! JUST SHUT UP, AND GET A LIFE.
@Mightylite94 Well I sent you a PM with the sites including the official SFPD government website for you to look at. Stop calling me a liar if you have not even researched ANYTHING!!

@safewaysecurity your retarded, no cop gets paid that much. even sgt's and lietenants dont make 70,000 a year. imagine that san francisco has 1,000 officers, then 1,000 times 100,000 a year equals 100 MILLION DOLLARS A YEAR FOR A POLICE OFFICER, NOT EVEN ADDING UP THE CADETS AND COMMANDERS OF THE DEPARTMENTS, MAN UR STUPID
@Mightylite94 Oakland police officers get even higher salaries... I heard they get $130,000. Did you even research the matter. This is just what I have found. Search SFPD starting Salary and the first link that comes up is yahoo answers where an LEO says starting salary ranges from $79,000 - 102,000 a year. On their website it even says "The current annual entry-level salary for Police Officers is: $82,602 to $110,526" . Don't call me stupid call the liberal commies stupid.
i got a question about the American justice system. How come if i wanted to i could walk into the middle of a crowded street and execute a random person with tons of eye witnesses and still be INNOCENT until proven guilty, thrown into a nice jail cell and await my trial for a year(also post bail and flee). 1 the justice system is broken and Americans are to stubborn to admit it 2 no one wants to fix it because your all to lazy and 3 Americans are just to selfish to even care. LAND OF OPPERTUNITY
Here in Calgary, Alberta, Canada Starting wages for the police is $54,021 to $84,392 CAD in the first five years.
