i can see it better as an off beat commercial but not as a short. i didnt get what the film maker were trying to say. i got a feeling they were trying to be shocking/ smart ass about it but it didnt come across that way, instead it came off rather akward because it ended abruptly. the actors did a great job though.

There was no message. There was no story. It was just entertainment. That's what art is most of the time all about.

yes, film is an entertainment, but if the filmmakers decided to do a film in a certain way [like this one] it needed to be communicated clearly. if like you say 'there was no message, there was no story, just entertainment' then what's the point? G.I joe had no message and no story, it was meant to be purely entertainment but after 30 mins i wanted to stab my self in the eyes because the movie was craptacular.

G.I Joe is something completely different. First, it's a film, a long film. this is only about 4 minutes. Second, I've never seen it but I heard it's pretty violent, this short film is not violent. Third, I just realized that this does have a story but not an ending. Forth, films don't always have to be communicated clearly in order for it to be a good film because what if it's a mystery? What if there is a cliff hanger?. And fifth, I like that word, craptacular.

exactly dude, the filmmaker was playing around with the film structure/narrative. they 'ended' it in a cliff hanger/abrupt situation, the thing is i've seen so many shorts like this, it becomes like a story that serves the style instead the other way around. filmmakers like godard and truffaut also played around with structure in their shorts/features but they managed to pull it off [most of the time]. but if you think this film worked thats fine, at least its better than G.I joe hehe

I nice example of the film makers ability to create a little drama film. I liked as well how it played with the drama genre as well: useually in a drama somebody would be happy and then their told something depressing that spoils everything. In this one it had guy saying somthing like "oops killed your sister, sorry." While in a more conventional drama it would be people crying, shouting dramatic depressing music and everything would just melodramtic etc.

He is correct in the sense that keeping secrets from each other is an unhealthy basis from which to start a family. And so he was right to tell her the truth.

But he was wrong to hide it from her for so long. I strongly believe that if you kill a lover's family member, whether it be an accident or deliberate (and this example sounded like an accident) that you tell your lover as soon as you can.
