  • @tricome420 yeah pritty much all of them i have a 96 GS with the 420A to tell the truth the thing runs like crap and nothing i do fixes it so i cant wait to sale it for another honda. But there was a JDM eclipse it was turboed and even had more HP then the USDM one by 10 it had 220hp which im guessing is a form of the 4g63t never really looked that far into it but people were always saying there not imports when the truth is they have a JDM model

  • i talk to some guy who use to work at pinks all out, he said the reason why they didnt use to have imports was because "it was made to look like a classic car show" aka Muscle cars only. I was really surprised. Nice one speed Channel.

  • Every local track has a 30 cars or so running 6 flats in the 1/8. Youre lucky to see one import on youtube doing that lol. Let alone a local. v8's own the track, thats not even an argument. Imports can make quick street cars and thats it. Take them for what they are and enjoy it. If you want to get serious in drag then its time to step up with the big boys.

  • Another thing is most people buy imports because the cars are cheap and the parts are cheap. Not many people would be willing to dump $20k on a trans. to pts series race with. Only a hand full of people are able to take the cars to that level anyway. The market just wont be there, even if it were. not many would buy it. Maybe some day. Drivetrain parts are the only thing that make imports unreliable imo.

  • @comgeturs nah, imports just need to step their game up and not break every other pass. im a dsm owner btw. Go to an import shootout, the track is shutdown half the day cleaning parts and coolant/water/oil off the track.

    This show is a joke. I have lost all my respect for it and probably won't until I see another import, USDM (DSM's...etc) or something with 4 or 6 cylinders.

  • @toymachinefreak0 Theres a reason for that man.imports can be fast street cars, but they cant hang with the big track cars. A big reason is lack of real race proven aftermarket support. So we have go fast parts, but no one makes an import trans for a 1000whp car. Or a rear end, center diff, front diff, etc. If there were big money drivetrain parts for imports that would allow them to run consistently with like pts series then it would all be different.

  • @nallen100 aftermarket companys make trannies good for 1000hp most imports break because there owners pick cheap and fast. pick 2 cheap fast or reliable. Ive seen more V8s blow at my local dragstrip then imports. And I have only seen one DSM blow.

  • @numba1netsfan Then youve never been to any big import event. Like import shootout/ faceoff or dsm shoot out. Only 1/4 make a clean pass. No aftermarket company makes an import trans that holds 1000hp, especially not for a dsm. The 3k "built" shep trans still use the stock gear sets that shear off at 450lb/ft. Also no awd trans that can hold enough to pull a better then 1.3 60ft. Shep only pulls a 1.3. Kiggly built is own trans for his fwd auto that pulls a better 60ft then shep and its fwd.

    Wow you guys really are biased. John Shepherd runs the Dogbox in his own car that is pushing somewhere around 1400hp and holds the world record for the fastest AWD 4-cylinder in the world 7.70 @ 191mph

  • @DigiTuben Besides their full "builds" are 3k+ that still use stock 91-92 gear sets. Take your own advice dipshit. Their dogbox trans dont even list a price haha, can you say 10k lol. 1400hp is still pussy shit when it comes to real drag cars.

    Their Stage 4 is $2.4k and have been in many cars running in the 8s and 9s. A few years back the Dogbox listed for somewhere around $5k, what it is now, I don't know. But well worth it for someone looking for a lifetime warranty with no questions asked.

    John Shep was limited on his certs for running his times. Besides V8 Methanol powered cars only make about 25hp per cylinder more then Sheps 2.0L. And weighing half what Sheps car does ... not very impressive ...

  • @numba1netsfan The winner of quick 16 last year(which is supposed to be the fastest class at shootout) ran a 10.6. That was slower then the winner of the "true street" class. Who ever makes it to the end with out breaking wins lol. Its pretty sad. Most import owners are cheap skates. Hence the reason for no purpose built race parts. With muscle cars you can go buy a 10-20k trans and run 6's in the 1/4 on it. Then a bullet proof rear end and run a few seasons on that set up.

    JDM Talon/Laser/Eclipse? lol.. These cars are the complete opposite of that They were made directly for the American market, by Chrysler and Mitsubishi, by Americans in Normal, Illinois. DSM was competing against the American Import market, not part of it. You Foxbody owners can, and should, make fun of the crap box they ruined the eclipse name with. 2000+ Eclipse makes baby Jesus cry.

  • @B18CTurbo1 Yea but for the same reason i just said in my last post. I own a built dsm and even i know this. built muscle cars can run mid 8's all day for an entire season. A mid 8 import is lucky to make 2 clean passes in a day, without breaking, bogging launch, missing a gear, popping the motor, etc.

Any Japanese OEM Mitsu. part should then be appropriately called JEM. Japanese EXPORT market. I agree with buddah, chinesemonk is retarded.

  • The drivetrains were Japanese through and through. They were more like assembled in Illinois. But The Talon/Eclipse were a great little sports car.

  • Do you know what a DSM is? Diamond Star Motors. A collaboration of efforts between Mitsubish and Chrysler, who helped design the Mitsubishi Eclipse, Eagle Talon, and Chrysler Laser of the 1990's. The idea was cheap power.

  • eclipse/talon/laser are domestics, period. the motor maybe a japan mitsu motor, but the car itself is american and only built in america(straight and to the point)!

  • Can the Eagle Talon or the PLymouth Laser run in a Domestic Class? Yes it can as it is a Domestic. The only difference between those and an Eclipse is a bumpers and side skirts, everything else is the exact same. Acuras are made in Japan where DSM's were made in 1 place only, Normal Illinois and were exported from the US. Dodge D50 and Mitsu Mighty Max are the same trucks as well :D

  • Educate yourself. Chrysler designed the body, Mitsubishi did the engine and drive train. The car was made in Normal Illinois and EXPORTED to Japan in very low numbers. Its considered a Domestic, 1st character- Identifies the country in which the vehicle was manufactured.

    For example: U.S.A.(1 or 4), Canada(2), Mexico(3), Japan(J), Korea(K), England(S), Germany(W), Italy(Z) Eagle Talon and Plymouth Laser are the same exact cars and those are not considered imports.

  • Mostly Correct, the engine is Mitsu but the transmission was actually designed by Mercedes.

  • DSMs get such an unfair rap. I'd bet there aren't too many other cars with such a high percentage of people forcing as much hp per liter out of their engines. My '99 GSX has had zero problems in the five or so yrs I've owned it. Mainly because I haven't modded the hell out of it, and I take care of it.
