@alpacafiberest There are already videos online for most dying methods. No since in repeating what someone else has already done. Most of the time I do pot-dying with Jacquard Acid Dyes. :)
I disagree. I would recommend that you re-watch & listen to what I am saying about those pieces that have stuck to the licker drum. Smaller, short fibers, that stick to the licker drum after the carding is said & done I save for felting. That fiber is till useful, just not for spinning.
i tried to do a video reaponse, but i am not having luck posting it. To see my video respons please search "Capture 20090209 3" on youtube.
I'd like to know if you could show us how to hand card angora with a cotton or angora carder. Then take the carded wool and make bats or roving... I'll mail you the angora if you show me what to do with it.
Hiyah! I could not find the video, what I did find was some kids being really trippy! I am allergic to Angora, so although I would love to show you, I am unable to work with the fiber.
You are awesome! Thanks for the helpful videos. I have an alpaca farm and am just venturing into hand carding. Who's the manufacturing for your drum carder? I have to get one! Thanks again. Let me know if you would like some alpaca fiber - I would love to see what you could do with it!
Hey girl..you are really the best..love all the spinning related video! I'm a newby.. so am terribly addicted to all your 'learning videos'..now for a request..will you do a video on using hand carders..just got mine in the snail mail today! Looking for a good/correct way to do this. Thanks ever so much! I've seen a couple of others doing this..but no one has your panache or sense of humor!!! Keep up the terrific work you are doing!
Thanks so much for all the postive feedback! If anyone is unaware, I am doing a fundraiser to raise the funds to replace a RAM chip in my puter that is crappin out, making it impossible to edit video to upload to youtube. I have two more waiting to be edited! You can find my fundraiser page at rexenne. chipin. com/ new-1gig-ram-chip (take out spaces). I appriciate every little bit that helps! Thanks for your consideration and support!!
Again, great helpful video! Thanks so much for putting in the time and effort to share your knowledge. Now, I'd love to see what the yarns look like after these batts are spun, ie how to use the results of all this fun!
Sure thing! You can check out my Spinning P0rn folder at flickr here: flickr dot com/photos/c4g/ (replace dot with the actual thing, and take out the spaces)
I can't seem to post the spacific photo link because youtube won't let me! Check out photo "Into the Deep Blue Sea" to get an idea of what the yarn may come out lookin like. It really sparkles!
Great! Thanks, I'm looking at them now. And, tonight I tried my own carder for the first time, the cat got REALLY interested and is in full red alert mode now, and has just flung the doffer down the stairs! Brat! I'll put her through the carder next :).
Thanks for showing us how to get creative with fibers & the drum carder. The tips on washing the fleece is very helpful, as is adding glitz with different fibers. As Confucius said, "after enlightenment, the laundry."
rexenne, thank you for sharing. Could you please show how you dye your yarn? What brand die, etc... Thank you,
